The Most Affordable Contemporary OMEGA - The OMEGA De Ville Prestige Co-Axial Review

OMEGA is one of those brands that tend to be beloved more than most brands for those that are lucky enough to say they own one. Yet the question of where to start with the brand certainly is up to the buyer, the question of what the most affordable contemporary OMEGA watch can't be debated the same way.

My wrist is over 7 1/2 inches, I used to only wear 40 mil + case diameters then got my first vintage watch an omega geneve 34 mil. The first week I didn't like it and was tempted to return it, after 2 weeks it was my primary watch, the size actually makes it stand out, it looks more expensive and elegant than my bigger watches, whose size I no longer like, it's strange how the mind works!

If it weren’t for your videos showcasing watches for smaller wrists, I wouldn’t have realized the wonderful proportions of smaller watches on my wrist. Now my largest watch is a 40mm which feels large against my 34-38mms. Wonderful content as always!

This size is ideal for many people, perhaps most. The size, in terms of the diameter of the dial in addition to the case is rarely mentioned and would be worth including.

I have 8" wrists and was really into vintage watches when I first started collecting. I think the smallest I had was a 35mm Tudor from the 50's. But, as i moved away from vintage into contemporary designs, my tastes changed and I didn't care for the smaller sizes and eventually sold all my vintage watches. I still don't like huge watches though and usually stay between 40 and 42 mm.
@MS-sy8ls

I wore a 42mm Omega for 12 years and earlier this year bought a 40mm Rolex. It felt small for a few weeks but now I love it. I also have a vintage 34mm Tudor which I inherited from my grandfather. At first I thought it was too small to wear but you’re right - after just a couple of wears you get used to the smaller sizes. Happy days!

I agree with the tendency of getting used to a larger watch. All my watches are 40-45mm size. I had a marlin 34mm and I returned it , I wasn't used to it and couldn't stand the visible tan lines lol cool vid. thanks

My 90s-era Constellation (the Manhattan series that Teddy isn’t a fan of) has a 32mm case, which is _tiny_ by today’s standards, but I’ve been very happily wearing it for the past 25-odd years. It’s only recently when I looked for a diver’s watch that I realised how huge modern watches have gotten.

As far as size preferences go, i feel its more like asking what size shirts you wear. It depends on your own dimensions and what fits. A 36mm on my slender wrists looks good, but it might not look good someone with bigger wrists. This is usually the case, unless we're talking about one off concept pieces which are meant to be a certain way like John Mayer's Concept AP chrono. I have a 7.25 wrist and work best with 42 or 43mm... but to your question about smaller watches on larger wrists: I find myself attracted to the more edgy vintage pieces of the 60's and 70's where you have cushion or tv dials that take something that is basically 34 or 36mm and gives it more of a 40mm presence to the eye.

For my first Omega, I got a 1972 C-case Constellation, and I really like it on my 7.5-inch wrist. Maybe it helps that the C-case design visually extends the case in two dimensions, but it makes for a versatile watch that fits easily under a dress shirt.

Super late comment but, I have an average sized wrist. I although, I do own a 46mm watch, and it doesn't look too ridiculous on the wrist. But in my experience wearing smaller watches, a round case looks smaller compared to a square or square-like case. I wear a 35mm Bulova dress watch quite often, and that watch looks bigger than my snk-805. So if anyone wants to try a smaller watch but hasn't found one that looks way too small, give a non round watch a try

The De Vile 36.8 is BIG and definitely not a the classic size. A classic dress watch for men will be 32~34mm. That's why I prefer the De Ville 34mm Master Chronometer. It wears really nicely. You can see the bracelet. I hate watches that cover the whole wrist; I want to see the bracelet coming off each side. The only downside is that it is kinda thick at 10.1mm and it wears kinda thick with the slab sides.

Hey Teddy, I am interested in buying a watch that found online, but I don’t know if it is original. The dial says Omega Co-axial Chronometer, but the person who is selling it said is battery operated. Would you give me your opinion if you wouldn’t mind? Thank you for your help, and thank you for your great videos!

I love omega (my everyday watch is a speedy and I have several vintage seamasters) but I can't get into the de ville. It's boring and just doesn't do it for me. Great overview though thx
