After his "joke" I love the way Jim claps his hand encouraging the audience to do likewise and when they do he then acts all bashful and waves his hands as if say "Stop it audience!"...lol

Jim Bowen used to be a maths teacher in a Lancaster England the school was called skerton high school which is no longer there, He also owned a pub past carnfoth going towards the lake District i think it was called the red well, but as a young child in Lancaster over 40 yrs ago this big gold rolls Royce pulled up with Jim Bowen and Jimmy tarbuck in it and said could you kids look after the car and if nothing happens to it, I'll give you some money and when they come back looked round the car and both emptied there pocket's and pulled out nearly twenty sheets. Wow 😲 back then that was about a million pound to us four scruffy little reprobates. Haha 🤣💙.

Thanks to Jim's interviewing technique, a giggly audience, the young bloke being nervous, and a misunderstanding, two regular, presumably straight guys probably got a lot of unfair stick for ages after that.

No evidence to say the young guy is gay or that was his partner at all. I just think he was timid and a bit camera shy. I liked Jim Bowen but this was a bit out of order: mind was in the gutter.

The other awkard moment on Bullseye when Jim had 2 contestants from Diss who ran a shop and then said ''I bet you get plenty of Diss-atisfied customers'' and had to explain the joke to them which went down like a sack of poo

It was from a time when we all had a sense of humour and weren't frightened to laugh at humour unlike today where people are so bloody thin-skinned, touchy and get offended at the slightest thing, even the mention of the name of a certain black dog at Scampton!

I love how bullseye once had an actual serial killer appear, yet this clearly trumps this as the most awkward moment

I feel so sorry for the young lad. Jim Bowen was just another crap club comic who struck lucky with The Comedians and then landed a game show. There is nothing to suggest he was anything other than painfully shy and truly innocent in that sense. He was nothing more than a dinosaur.

Why do the audience start laughing when he says "We're just friends"

I've noticed a lot of awkwardness when Jim interviews the contestants especially in the early episodes. Jim was very much of his time even into the 1980s when this sort of humour was still conisdered acceptable. We shouldn't be applying 2020s stadnards to it just to appease these thin-skinned woke snowflakes.

I liked Bullseye and Jim Bowen, however it was clear that Jim picked up on the relationship between the two and was laughing at them along with the audience. Although it was funny, it was inappropriate. Two revealing bits were when the older bloke said: "JUST friends," the word "just" being a huge red flag, and then when Jim said that Pat "should" have a girl to be "tampering" with. Also the bit where the audience laughed and Jim looked at them......oh my goodness! I don't think he'd get away with that these days!
