Many people say the Goat Rocks Wilderness and the Knife's Edge Trail in Washington are the most beautiful and scenic sections of the Pacific Crest Trail. Ironically, many NOBO hikers quit before they get to the Cascades because they mistakenly think that after the Sierras there isn't anything else to see. Fools! I loved hiking the Sierras. In 2017 it was a badge of honor to go through them. I loved hiking in the Trinity Alps of Northern California. But nothing could prepare me for how beautiful the Cascades were in Washington. This was easily my favorite day of peak-gazing. I hope you enjoy this excerpt from my hike. Is there a section from the PCT you think is better looking than Goat Rocks? Never Hiked the PCT or the Sierra's but I do live near the G.R. In April when I turn 67 this will be my first hike in 30 years . In the pass I used Packwood Lake as a base camp to day hike all over the place. This way I didn't carry much food but would have to catch it in the morn and evenings.

That's awesome that you're planning to get back on the trail! Goat Rocks completely blew my mind. I'm hoping to be able to go back sometime for a basecamp hike just like you described. I'd love to spend a week exploring the area. Hope you have a great hike in April! Would love to hear how it goes.

I’m glad you like the tunes. Sometimes I worry it’s a slippery slope with the EDM. Could quickly degenerate into a Russian techno club.

I LOVED Cispus Pass. That was the first part of Washington where I thought it looked like the Sierra. Sadly when I hiked up to Goat Rocks in 2018, it was socked in with fog. We took the "easy" way/stock route since we couldn't see anything.

@@HackYourPack Yes I only live a few hours from Goat Rocks so I try to get out there once a year. My favorite section is the Snow Grass Flats loop up to the lake and around. Up on the PCT has the best views, and if you get a chance to go back on a clearer day I would totally recommend it. On a clear day you should be able to see 9 volcanoes, 6 to the south and 3 to the north.

Great channel I love the goat rocks I got right up to the edge of them this year i’m starting in Campo and attempting to through hike the entire PCT again I did 850 miles this year and it wasn’t enough you have a great channel just need to promote yourself a little bit

I have four kids in a beautiful wife and I started missing them bad and my aunt had a funeral in after the funeral I allowed myself to get out of shape only one week But that was enough when it was time to go back to trail it been a month and I was on able to get this party started again I’m doing a lot to combat missing my family in hopes that I can reach my goal of making it to Canada

The Goat Rocks Wilderness is my favorite section of all the trails I've hiked. I'm in the process now of setting up to live as near to it as possible. Eventually owning a piece of land to run an off grid trail angel support camp for hikers of the PCT ❤ ✌ 👣 👑 Goat King Camp.
