The Most Bittersweet Recovery We've Ever Done...Ron and Beverly Barker ( 

Look, we all know that you (Heavy D) and Diesel Dave have money. That’s a given. However, what you do with it is just plain remarkable. Not only that, it’s your time. You, Diesel Dave and the crew out there, sometimes doing back breaking work to help common folk is just plain awesome. Thank You.

I am full time RV. The entire RV community has followed this heavily. Heartbreaking, Thank you!

I can’t imagine the horror of knowing you’re dying and leaving your wife without protection, something you’ve provided for years.

I can’t imagine the survivors guilt I would feel if I went through this with my love…. My heart breaks for Beverly, Ron, and their families. You guys are great for doing this.

Man, this is just worst case scenario after worst case scenario. My heart feels for them for sure. I can’t even imagine having to drive the rv home after going thru such a traumatic experience, that’s going to be tough for her. I was a manager at an rv park for a few years and one weekend we had an elderly man pass away in his rv. He was on vacation with his wife and an rv group. He passed in his sleep next to his wife. She woke up and found him. Their friends comforted her for hours but as it was a Sunday they all had to get on the road and return home as well bc it was just a weekend trip. I also had my sons birthday party that afternoon at the park bc we lived on the property. But I refused to set up while she was there. Since he was deceased he wasn’t taken out in an ambulance, the poor woman had to wait hours for the coroner to come. She also didn’t know how to drive the rv. Luckily her kids lived within driving distance and drove to pick her up so she wasn’t stranded, but she asked me if I could park her rv in our storage facility until she could make alternate plans. I gave her the rest of the summer storage for free and told her no rush. My heart broke for her. She kept saying “he was going to teach me on the ride home. He wanted me to learn to drive it. It’s like he knew he was leaving me.”

I couldn’t imagine my husband passing away while we were stuck in the middle of the desert and the very next day, search and rescue shows up. I would be so angry at everything.

Dave, I know I’m just some random guy on the Internet. However, I want you to know how special of a person you truly are and how pure of a heart you have! You and diesel are hands down top notch guys! I would give anything to spend a week with you guys and pick your brains and just study how to be a better man from you guys. Truly inspirational!

As horrific as this story is, seeing people go so out of their way to help one another, there’s just something beautiful about that. Your time, your expertise and your hard work was crucial. My heart goes out to Miss Beverly and her family, she sounds like one tough woman but my heart still goes out to her as she mourns the loss of her love Ron.

The walker was hard to see. Thank you all for what you did for this family.

Sadly this reminds me of the German family that got lost and passed away in Death Valley. While their rental van was found right away, it took years before their remains were found. Won’t deny it…when you said, “Oh the walker” I teared up

Some good lessons there. Went through something like this myself, got stuck, almost bitten by a couple of snakes, nearly ran out of water. Phone was crippled, in an iron-rich canyon, and could only make 911 calls out, not get calls in. Was able to eventually get a call through, and baked in the hot sun for hours before rescuers came. Glad I didn't die. Lesson 1, don't go out alone. Lesson 2, tell people where you're going.

Thank you Heavy D for recovering the Rv. Ron and Beverly was related to me. Ron was my mom's cousin. My grandmother was a barker. I watch your videos all the time and never thought you would ever be doing anything the would have to do with my family. Small world. My family been through alot through the years. We lost my dad and grandma and grandpa all in the same year. I lost my dad to liver cancer. I been out to Utah and Arizona. I love moab Utah. I have a uncle out in San Manuel Arizona. Just wanted to say thank you very much. Your a very good person to go out of your way for things like this for people you don't even no. God bless you.

I live in Oregon and we have “seasonal” roads. Roads you can’t go down basically after the first snowfall. GPS doesn’t say that they are seasonal. A family tried to pass over the Siskiyou Mountains and they ended up on a seasonal road. The husband died trying to get help. Wife and kids traumatized, but alive

It breaks my heart that they were out there for so many days alone. They had each other, though. RIP Ron, my prayers are with Barbara. If you have loved ones who travel, invest in a SPOT tracker, or some sort of emergency radio transmitter. They work, and literally can save lives.

watching this is absolutely horrific, seeing how things are just frozen in time. I hope Beverly is getting therapy and is recovering.

It’s clear HeavyD was thinking about and keeping Ron and Beverly in his heart the entire time, and was genuinely upset by their experience. As tragic as this is, it’s good y’all do this incredibly physically and emotionally difficult work and bring these situations and events to everyone’s attention, so people can learn from the tragedies, and hopefully keep something similar from happening to someone else.

When placing the cross, I teared up big. I hope years down the road, the memory of Ron's last big adventure can bring a subtle smile for all. To the great man I'm certain Ron is remembered of being!

Watching this video kinda rights a world that feels upside down lately. A beautiful reminder that those who espouse compassion, generosity, and selflessness still walk among us, while at the same time inspiring others to do more and give more of themselves when possible. It feels good to have modern day heroes to look up to, thank you HeavyD and crew!

This is an amazing thing you did for this family. I can’t even imagine how difficult that was for them both, let alone Beverly. The walker got me too. It might have turned out so much better if they had stayed with their motor home. So sad, but this is also a great reminder that if you leave your motor home, to pack food, water, blankets, medications, shovels, tow ropes, First aid. I never go on a trip without these things, winter or summer, or any season! My heart goes out to this family. You all were so amazing to get those vehicles out for them.

I'm a 42 yr old Army vet who's seen and been through more than most could ever possibly comprehend both in the military and moreover personal life experiences and this brought tears to my eyes. I'm not someone who normally show's emotions or even cries, but if a story like this doesn't have the same affect on yourselves then you must not be human.

This is so sad. Here I'm worried that my 76 year old husband might die, in a rented cottage. This woman lost her husband, in the middle of nowhere, with no one to help. 😢

Man this was hard to watch my parents out camping in Smokey mountains with no service in their 70s I worry but know they are living their best life,Sorry for their loss, will be praying for comfort for the family. You guys are just good dudes plain and simple.

This reminds me so much of Rita and Albert Chretien from here in BC. They became lost in Nevada and sadly, Albert did not make it. Rita was found 7 weeks later and it was a miracle she survived. Such a tragic ending for both of these stories.

Man, that story is sad as hell. I think about all those times my grandparents would take their van up in to the mountains 30+ years ago before GPS and Grandfather would just pick a random trail to drive down looking for a good fishing spot, it's kind of a miracle they never got stuck and stranded like this. You sir, are a wonderful human being for doing things such as this.

These are my new favorite videos to binge on. Hits close to home. I went on a search and rescue to find my brother and his friend. They were snowmobiling in the Little belt mountains near Showdown ski area. That is the most snow I have ever ridden in. -40F and 30 ft of snow. We could not go anywhere on the sleds of that era. The Air Force found the fire they had started by infra red. They survived 3 days and nights inside the fire pit. Only frostbite and broken egos thank god! Thank God for you guys.

This recovery was very emotional to watch. My parents are in their late 60's early 70's now and starting to travel more in a setup almost exactly the same. I am going to make sure they understand their GPS unit and ensure it is not configured to take them on roads like this if possible.

My eyes watered when I saw the walker and you explained what she was doing to get water. God Bless you Heavy D and the boys for doing this.

I felt so bad when I saw their story a couple months ago. Such a tragic incident. I was thankful they were together when Ron passed away. God Bless Beverly, her family and all those that helped recover the vehicles

This is insane, I got lost here a few years back and luckily my wife at the time figured out gps had taken us the wrong way, and turned us around. We ran out of gas as we pulled up to the gas station luckily. Sad to see this happening to this family. God bless this family!

This hits closer to home. I'm so glad you were able to help this family. My grandpa pulled over on a road trip for a nap one afternoon and never woke back up. I can only imagine what grandma went through that day. Such a sad sad situation and the family is in my prayers.

Years ago my girl friend and I (2 women) went on one of those no plans, no deadlines trip. She brought a Tom Tom. After getting directed to a dead end at a junkyard, at midnight I questioned her about when was the last day she uploaded it for changes. “Not since we got it about 10 years ago.” It was pre good programs such as “Ways.” I was glad I had a paper atlas in the trunk.

I’m from Indiana and this was all over the news. It was so sad hearing the outcome of that story. I’ve been around that area of Nevada and couldn’t imagine an elderly couple in an RV trying to navigate those trails.
