Look, we all know that you (Heavy D) and Diesel Dave have money. That’s a given. However, what you do with it is just plain remarkable. Not only that, it’s your time. You, Diesel Dave and the crew out there, sometimes doing back breaking work to help common folk is just plain awesome. Thank You.

A horrible horrible tragedy !!! I use a walker. If I didn't have that I wouldn't be able to walk. What those people went through. So so sad My heart's broken too! That's when we need to take everyday that we have and appreciated and cherish it because you never never know what's around the corner. I'm an older woman so let me tell you I've seen a lot and lived through even more. So please cherish what you have. I just loved what you wrote and me had to put in my two words. Man, this is just worst case scenario after worst case scenario. My heart feels for them for sure. I can’t even imagine having to drive the rv home after going thru such a traumatic experience, that’s going to be tough for her. I was a manager at an rv park for a few years and one weekend we had an elderly man pass away in his rv. He was on vacation with his wife and an rv group. He passed in his sleep next to his wife. She woke up and found him. Their friends comforted her for hours but as it was a Sunday they all had to get on the road and return home as well bc it was just a weekend trip. I also had my sons birthday party that afternoon at the park bc we lived on the property. But I refused to set up while she was there. Since he was deceased he wasn’t taken out in an ambulance, the poor woman had to wait hours for the coroner to come. She also didn’t know how to drive the rv. Luckily her kids lived within driving distance and drove to pick her up so she wasn’t stranded, but she asked me if I could park her rv in our storage facility until she could make alternate plans. I gave her the rest of the summer storage for free and told her no rush. My heart broke for her. She kept saying “he was going to teach me on the ride home. He wanted me to learn to drive it. It’s like he knew he was leaving me.”

Some good lessons there. Went through something like this myself, got stuck, almost bitten by a couple of snakes, nearly ran out of water. Phone was crippled, in an iron-rich canyon, and could only make 911 calls out, not get calls in. Was able to eventually get a call through, and baked in the hot sun for hours before rescuers came. Glad I didn't die. Lesson 1, don't go out alone. Lesson 2, tell people where you're going.

Also If you're driving an RV and gonna buy a road atlas, buy a Motor Carriers road atlas. They color code roads based on whether an 18-wheeler can use them. I'd also buy a dedicated GPS device made specifically for truckers. You can program the exact size of your vehicle into them, and they won't take you down roads it wont fit thru.

Does your job allow you to get paid and make a difference? Mine does. I'm a deputy sheriff and while I get paid, it's not enough to ever say it's for the money. Be kinder in your judgement of others. I live in Oregon and we have “seasonal” roads. Roads you can’t go down basically after the first snowfall. GPS doesn’t say that they are seasonal. @@JBBrickman no no that was the story in Oregon, which is confusing because this couple is also from Oregon, but they died in Nevada. The father that walked off to find help, he became hypothermic and started taking his clothes off in the snow and died. Snowmobiles found the mother and the little kids in the car a day or so later. They had tried to burn a car tire so the black smoke would attract attention and it didn’t work

My heart and tears agree with your words, Diesel. GPS's misleading and disorienting people that are using and relying on them, is not a new thing. I do feel the company manufacturing and setting up the mapping programs will not make any changes unless there is a legal precedence set by prosecuting and holding them accountable for such a case as this, therefore hopefully avoiding any potential loss of life, due to faults in this product going forward. More human brains and less robotic technology should be involved in the manufacturing and mapping programs used in a GPS. Period.

Yeah I own a GPS tracker made by invoxia. It uses cellular and GPS... Its on my Suzuki DR400 dirt bike and is about the size of a pack of gum, battery will last 3 months with a ping rate of every10 min while riding an hour a day, or 6 months if you have it only ping once per 24 hours. If I were to get in trouble. There is a button on it you can press to send sos pings with my location to anyone you want. You need to set it up before you get lost though. There is no way to do that once you are out of cell service and only have GPS signal. The thing is $120 with 2 years of cell/gps service. Garmin sells two way text GPS units that are cool but expensive.
