There is a historical precedent for cavalry besting naval ships! The Capture of the Dutch fleet at Den Helder. The Dutch fleet was frozen in place, which allowed for French hussars to capture the ship. According to Wikipedia

wiki is basic for basic info, but for 100 percent reliability then you would want to refer to actual specific academic sources, by historians etc., wiki changes often with info. sometimes even with the same page ever contradicting with the same information displayed.

or heavy armored mameluke cavalry, for a unique mameluke civ. historical depiction of their armor wear is very unique.

maybe a new unique upcoming civ as a suggestion, the Bahri mamelukes, who defeated the strongest heavy armored cavalry of Europe, the French royal knights, and captured one of their most OP French king, louis the saint, one of the few most regarded significant kings of medieval europiun history, specifically of France. the mamelukes have defeated enemies from multiple directions at the same time while against a combined Christian and Mongol force, they are by far the most interesting considering their background as slave boys, I recommend you watch the YT video about baybars " from slave to Saviour " by kings and generals.

Most of the current civs in aoe4 appeared early in aoe2 as well. If the trend continues, you may get your Mamelukes or something close to Saracens. That would make the likes of Vikings, Goths and Celts strong candidates too. Would be great if we got all of them, but I think we'll have to wait a few seasons for that

@@Eoin1 that would be great, Viking barbarians would be nice with the unique round shields, however I have never seen or imagined what a Celtic civilization would look like in Age of empires 4. or for any game in that matter, I assume they look similar to the Germanic barbarians etc.

Horsemen = too low dmg cause of camels, can’t keep up with raiders past feudal, and wouldn’t have done as much damage as mounted samurai raids. Barracks units get kited by raiders and don’t do much, also the prevalence of demos on this map makes it impossible to go infantry, so same goes for archery range, but gets absolutely stomped by ships and camel lancers, so mounted samurai’s were his only choice
