Gather ‘Round has a good looking government unit. I think it’s 20 lessons and you get the teachers guide and a notebook for each grade/age to go with it.
Sonlight has a free government/election unit that might be a good option for your younger girls, good intro without eyes glazing over😉 And l definitely agree on the "drowning" feeling...hoping for a reprieve soon.
I will say a prayer for you. I am just like you, right now I feel like I'm drowning. But I know it's just a season and it will not always be like this. For me I have a 2 year old and 3 year old who are both very needy and I'm trying to homeschool my 7 year old. Everyday is a challenge but it is only a season
My daughter (12) constantly asks me about phones too. She has a GABB phone (it only texts, calls & has a tracker on it) she can’t receive or send pictures. But she wants a “real one”. I keep delaying. The GABB is great though she can have some independence.
we used GABB for my teen son and it was great and now he is a 7yr old with an iPhone he has to pay for but we have BARK and it will stay on there until he's an adult.
Cani ask what BARK is? I want to get something more controlled for my 11yo. We gave into cell phones at an early age and revretpur decision. Im trying to make some needed changes@simplefaithanddaisies
You’re not alone with starting new units at the end of the school year. We started a DIY Government Unit the first week in April. Also, in May we start our next year curriculum as a “trial period”. This allows me to see if the new curriculum works for us; before starting the official school year. We loved One Blood- it put to words what I always believed❤.
Loved One Blood from Masterbooks!! I’m on the same boat with a couples of courses left to finish. Here a BJU English user, when I don’t have time to concentrate in a writing chapter we postpone it and continue with grammar so I don’t get too behind. And then go back with the writing chapter. I just figure that out this year. 😅
Great video! Thank you. We did the Good and the Beautiful Constitution and Government over a year! I had my 3rd and 7th grader do it 20 min 3 days a week over a 32 week time. It worked great and I just added in some more read alouds on government. They really liked it and we all learned a lot.
lol I know what you mean, last year I started a whole 10 week unit in May and tried a brand new math in May lol this year we’re wrapping up everything in May and it’s so nice!
The US constitution course took us the whole school year…I will say most weeks we were doing 1 lesson but some weeks we do 2. The lessons are very in depth and we ended up doing half of a lesson each time and that took 1 hour…each lesson for us was 1-2 hours!
Yes since when is May so crazy? I saw A post about it being the new or another December and I heartily agree. I also do not like our schedule being packed so full!
My son really enjoyed Primarily Logic! I need to see if they have more. And he's not a workbook kid. We mix in logic books from Critical Thinking as well.
My kids love workbooks. We have tried all the different things that have computers involved and THEY LOATHE THEM LOL! Teaching text books is the worst for my oldest. He would rather do 10 math pages a day
yes I got TGTB Constitution unit to use with my 1st grader thinking I could "dumb" it down since political science is what my degree is in but I couldn't do it. We def put it down after 1 lesson and said we'll pick it back up in 4 years.
Hi! Are you able to link to the video you mentioned about how you do grammar with both of your daughters (I think)? It was something to do with grammar but I can’t remember for sure. 😊
