Splatoon 1 has to be one of the MOST CHAOTIC Splatoon games in the series! Splatoon 3 has been known for its "chaotic" theme when chosen in Splatoon 2. But Splatoon 1 with its BROKEN Special weapons, smooth motion controls and the unbalanced mains that also balances the chaotic atmosphere that is the first game in the series. Along with ‪@ProChara‬ and ‪@BrianTheDrummer‬ we revisit Splatoon 1 to relive some of the greatest things from this amazing Squid Game!

It's weird how Splatoon 1 somehow feels more balanced on its meta of "If everything's overpowered, then nothing is" than Splatoon 2 and 3's actual attempts of balancing.

Well I mean that's because splatoon 3 was at a point in the series where they had an idea of how to balance things. In 1, it's chaotic because everything is way too broken but it doesn't make the game bad because everybody has access to those incredibly broken things. Splatoon 2 went the opposite route and everything feels too weak. 3 is a good mix, it's chaotic but with purpose. It's not chaotic because everything is unbalanced and stupid all the time in a fun way, but it still has an element of chaos in everything there is.

@@lunarkomet i just like the agressiveness there is to the game. Its not whether the implementation was good, but rather how much more enjoyment i get out adapting to a massive change in the way i played since the release of S2

One small thing that I will always miss in Splatoon 1 is that little jump mini-game that you can play on the Wii U Gamepad as you wait in queue for a match to start. Despite how hilariously broken some things were back then, Splatoon 1 will always have some of my favorite moments in the series.

Even though Splatoon 3 is nowhere near done in terms of updates, I don't think I'll ever have as much fun in S3 compared to S1.

It’s such a shame. I got Splatoon 3 on release, and the game felt so unfinished that it turned me off from the game for so long. I think so far I’d rank the Splatoon series games like 1 > 2 > 3

Splatoon 1 was the best! I dearly miss being able to throw 3+ burst bombs, the pre nerf rollers, how good inkzooka was and specially echolocator it's a shame none of them will ever come back

Echolocator was wild back then, especially on E-Liter with Burst Bombs and all damage up knowing where you are almost all the time. It was the main reason why most run Cold-Blooded shirts. xD I do miss Splat 1 sprinklers, they were really good before they got nerfed in Splat 2 when they added that mechanic where they get weaker over time.

@Silxer My thoughts exactly. I main the Kelp in 1, and Cold-Blooded is basically necessary with all the E liters. And yeah the old sprinkler was nice.

@@power0029 funny how you mention E-liter being OP with echolocator I used to run Octobrush for infiltrating the enemy base and keeping their sniper completely on check worked wonders for Ancho-V-games splat zones

I just made sub saver gear and ur still able to throw 3 burst bombs with enough of it. Could u really throw up to 4 in splat 1 I don’t recall

splatoon 1 was such a fun experience when i was younger. the joys of using the broken krak-on roller and the octobrush were just UNMATCHED by any other weapon, still a roller main to this day :D i miss the olden times of instant Big Boy kraken though 😔 fresh season edit: i now main the krak-on in splatoon 3 and have never been happier :]

Splatoon 3 was my first ever Splatoon game. After I 100% the campaign I went and bought Splatoon 1 & 2. And even though Splatoon 3s gameplay is my favorite, specials, weapon kits & the maps were much better in the older titles in my opinion. Splat 3s maps are so tiny and kinda "flat" feeling aswell as there being so little flank routes and paintable walls. Also Splat 1 & 2 had PAINTABLE TREES, why can we not point the trees in Splatoon 3 it bothers me so much xV

Right! I can’t believe that the devs brought back Flounder and Museum, but not other fan favourite maps like Mahi or Hammered. Such a shame, they would have been so much fun to play on again

@@Epii_ Some more than others. Museum and Flounder escaped scathed but still better than most S3 maps, but what they did to Mahi and Hammerhead... They shouldn't have even used the old names. They're nothing like the originals.

I think what I miss the most from Splatoon 1 and 2 are the defeat screens. When your character actually showed they were somewhat upset they lost.

It's been interesting to see the public conversation around Splatoon 1 change. Back in 2019, it felt like all I heard was "Woah, the menus look SO dated! Haha this game is broken". Nowadays, it's being re-evaluated as a wild, fun-as-heck shooter game. IDK, it's just nice to see 1 get recognition beyond "Splatoon 2 but worse".

About the comment on Splatoon on PC -- there is actually an ongoing Splatoon 3 PC Project. I'm not a part of the dev team, so i don't know how fast progress is, but there is a Discord server where they post updates. (I would link it but - a: I don't know how, and - b: I don't know how many people they want on the server.)

They took my Kraken and I'll never forgive them. It was perfect and didn't need any changes. In fact it should have lasted longer and had shorter startup.
