I see mostly 9mm, .45ACP, 223/556, and 7.62 Nato at the range for the most part. Sometimes, there will be someone shooting in 5.7x28 or 30 super carry. I'm the weird guy that carries 7.62x25 Tokarev or .30 Carbine to the range.
Before The Plague, even my local no-name sporting goods store had cartridges like .303 Brit and .30 carbine, but now that stuff's impossible to find in brick-and-mortar stores and hard to find even online
Since the range I go to is a WMA range I find a lot of 308, 30-06, 270, 6.5 cm...etc. There is a lot of hunting calibers other than the 223/9mm. Last time i went I picked up 20 30-30 cases, some 308, some 223, some 9mm, some 40 cal, some 7mag....idk ....more hunters.
I think the 'why' is because people generally shoot what the military & police use. I mean, you can dig into the why of that even more but my guess is it's because those calibers occupy a sweet spot between 'it works' and 'it's easy to shoot' and 'it's cheap' and 'the guns are cheap'. Hence there are a lot of guns sold in those calibers, hence there is a lot of ammunition to be found in those calibers. I also find a lot of 22LR, because that fulfills those metrics too and people don't bother picking it up.
Do you think reloading off sets the type of brass you find? I mean 9mm and 223 are on tge cheaper side. Could more people be picking up there own brass for the more expensive rounds? I don't worry much if i lose a 223 brass. But we look for the 257w and 358 win alot harder.
@@steveh4962 i like it alot. Believe it or not I like it better than the 338wm. The 338 faster but the 35 cal seems to hit a bit harder. Neither are really needed in fl. But before I hurt my shoulder. I liked big rounds.
Hey, I have a Rossi R92 .357. I've fired about 25 rds so far and the spent brass has a slight bulge at the case head I guess you call it. Is that normal?? ROSSI just told me it is. RockOn.StayFree.
@@theblindsniper9130 It will take me a day or two to find someone to help me do that ( I'm tech-challenged ). I don't know how well it will show. It's not a HUGH bulge. I almost didn't notice. Thx for the offer.
@@greybone777 As in it's not normal? It's not a huge bulge. If not paying attention you'd miss it. The reason I got it, not .44 mag etc... is I've heard how easy and versatile .357/.38 is to reload.
