Always good to have a few readers evaluate how appropriate it is to disclose information, at the end of the day it still needs to be a professional paper, and I think also good to keep in mind that if the staff accepts you and you attend the program, whatever you disclosed will be known information for the duration of the program.

It's a bit scattered on how to get research experience, you can ask old psychology professors if they need any help with any projects, you can ask graduate students at your school if they need any help with a masters thesis or dissertation, you can go online and reach out to students on linkedin or social media who are finishing up dissertations, you can apply to be a volunteer at a company and contribute to their research team, you can also apply to positions online like on indeed and so forth.
