The coolest way to break in a subwoofer I have ever seen was from "BareVids". I cant think of his name but he had 6 12's in a 6th order and he would simply place a subwoofer or 2 in his passenger seat with no power hooked up to it. The pressure inside the cabin moves the sub substantially with no actuall power being applied to the sub. Genius. He also showed an ingenious was to hook up 2 subs to 4 subs without strapping them and still always get even output throughout even if the 2 amps aren't putting out the same power. Its how mine are wired. Genius!
@Locally Hated 219 Yes that video he made of gain matching amps by reversing polarity- so genius! I just bought a 2nd amp exact same year/make/model to run 2 subs with 2 amps in the same box and can't wait to see how it sounds. Only thing is I am pretty certain he said that you could not do it with 2 different amps.. at least he said he wouldn't recommend it in the comment section.. sounds like you are trying it would love to hear how everything is holding up and if getting heating issues or anything with the subs or amps.. cheers
👌🏻 Jacob, btw this weekend I contacted Fi (to ask a question) and informed them about your 2 YT channels (in case they were unaware of JV2) and how if I were Fi, I'd be supporting JVs channel(s) in every way possible because if JV chooses Fi as his single choice of sub while striving for mid 150s dB then Fi MUST be a worthy subwoofer brand. Which is mainly why instead of going with Deaf Bonce, Resilient Sounds, Sundown, etc, I'll be going with Fi. Now for the hardest decision, deciding on which model of 15" sub, a single Delta or Omega, or a pair of Team Fi or a pair of what you went with which has an unbelievably low Fs! (Either or will be powered by a Taramps Bass 8K and the adequate electrical to go with it which makes me think wouldn't be enough juice to push a pair of Team Fis)
What i do in daily drivers, I just wire my subs to 4 ohm for a week or so, then bump it down to 1 ohm and it works like a charm. Just not everybody has the patience for that.

Best way i found to break a sub in . 20hz test tone moderate volume play for 1.5 hrs for 3 days in a box Outside a box ( free air ) 20hz with more volume for 1hr , you want the sub to look like its really stroking , you want to hear the sub chaffing as i call it It's just rapid flow of air thru the breather holes on the former .
@@troyhooper4126 Subwoofer manufacturers do not have listed anywhere in their instructions or warranty about a mandatory break in method. So yeah, keep telling yourself that, just quit spreading your BS to others.
When you mention its not ported, so not free air, what is the gap you put the camera into? Is that not a port or does it have a different name? Honest question, I am trying to get my memory back after a serious head injury. I qualified at the British academy of new music, but most of it is now gone.
@@JacobViral2 Thank you, I was unsure. I feel bad not knowing things I likely knew from before my injuries. I found your video as I bought myself a new 10inch studio subwoofer- I am remembering a lot of things and have got back into using logic, and wanted to see how others broke them in.
Like that you are showing this process most don't. But I've seen too many ppl talk crap on great subs because they threw it in and went ham. Not only do the spiders need to loosen up but the coils need to go through a few heating and cooling cycles to allow the coil glue to set properly. With these big power handling subs the coils have to break in properly. Other wise they unwind, glue melts and so on. If you plan on running these big subs plan on taking your time breaking them in.
None of what you say is true whatsoever! All subs, even high powered subs, can run their RMS straight out of the box. It's only when people try and slam 2x, 3x or whatever else through them that they better watch out.
Melt the extra glue form the coil help loosen the the spiders to help with better movement and that helps with the response and lowers the fs by1-4 hz and helps a lot with cooking because the coil doesn’t have to take as much power to move and alround sounds a lot better when broken in
Great 👍 Video and explanations... I been doing this car audio "hobby" for over 30 years. Slowly breaking in the subwoofers is key 🔑 with the proper amp and voltage ⚡ YOU ROCK BRO...
@@z1berzerker Doesn't matter what the difference is, break in's are not necessary. A subwoofer loosens up over time anyway so trying to rush it via some special ridiculous break in method is just silly and accomplishes nothing special at all.
@@MotoAtheist Loosening up and becoming more sensitive is post 📫 break in. The Egg 🥚 came first. My opinion it will never change been doing this 35+ yrs
Won't make any difference at all for general music builds. Faster break in is strictly an SPL thing so they can get the final specs of the speaker as fast as possible so they can build their box around using the final specs. Let's say a sub plays 0.25db louder after it loosens up over time (broken in). Nobody will hear that difference with one sub, however an SPL build with 10 subs will increase that by a factor of 10 and get a 2.5db increase and whatever other increase by building their box for those final specs. Basically, no speaker ever requires a break in period, it just takes longer to loosen up when playing over time and it really doesn't matter for general music and just a couple of subs, you simply won't hear the difference.
Steven c I’m new to systems, I’m mid forty’s but always wanted to get one so I did and did the complete install myself. Head unit, sq 6.5” front, rear speakers, subs @2, two amps one for subs and one for 4way. My subs are wired to one ohm and they are loud and hit hard but my subs are four ohm. I also have a clamped 2k amp only turned up barely a quarter of the way up. It may also be gain. After I tuned my amps I went into the head unit settings and adjusted all speakers and subs and it’s amazing, I’m a proud papa lol.
