I really need to get back into the game, I had like 1100 hours in ToS1, I played ToS2 once or twice after the Alpha, only have around 2 hours on ToS2, but I've been watching Pipe's videos daily.

all i play tbh is tos1 but i’d like to see BMG get back to updating it bcuz it seems like it’s forgotten

I don't play ToS2, but I do play CRK. This comment *vividly* reminded me of a time that someone used tk referring to Tea Knight. In Cookie Run name abbreviations, tk is Timekeeper.

That happened because a publisher got a hold of BMG no? The real question is why did BMG decide to hand over the game to Digital Bandidos, a publishing company MADE ONLY MONTHS AGO LIKE THIS YEAR when BMG has been here for like, a decade now.

I wasn't aware of this, is that a bad thing? I thought BMG made the game, if you don't mind explaining it to me that would be lovely!

@@LuciMax Its unknown if its bad or good but general opinion is bad so far. But on July 5th they announced they were working with Digital Bandidos but in turn after that announcement there was massive lay-offs. Curtis and Tuba who were hired after they made the the mod Better Town of Salem 2 and their lead Artist Blue with a few more.. Leaving the company with only 3 people. The publisher according to their Linkedin page, the company was made 2 months ago. So personal opinion but I was say laying off most of your team to be picked up by a publisher than nobody has ever heard of is pretty bad,

The game used to have active communities in every gamemode, but now it’s just aa. If you want to play other things, better town of Salem 2 mod has a pretty active casual queue right now

I do think so too, tos1 had many "chaos" roles like transporter and hypnotist to say the least. But i think there is a fine line between the game being "complicated" and "bullshit" if you know what i mean

As someone who spent tons of time playing tos 1. I still don’t accurately understand how transporter works. 2 transporters were enough to blow my mind

I have not, and honestly i dont think i will, i kinda use TOS as my "relax" game where there no pressure, so id rather leave the modded to people who want to take the game a bit more seriously :)

@@LuciMax Yeah I do understand that BTOS2 is a lot more stressful cause ya have to deal with more stuff and the players are more competitive. I do also sometimes just hop into some regular AA and just chill.

​@@LuciMax To be fair from what I gather modded just adds some ToS1 roles and balances some stuff. I'm really just shilling it cos its fun. Also, the creators behind the mod actually did work with the devs at a point (until the recent massive layoffs) since the mod really seeks to balance roles, and in general is pretty loyal to vanilla.

I have no idea why but btos2 has been alive everyday for at least a few weeks now. Playing with people there is a doozy for sure though. Wouldn’t recommend it for casuals

Yea i am aware of that, i was thinking about mentioning that but the purpose of this video is to entice people into the game and just do a quick review, not to diss and review every aspect of it, ill let the people who choose to play the game do that :)

Ehh... I never really noticed any problem with it from a free player standpoint. I don't think that people scrolling with stronger scrolls really affected my chances at getting good roles. I just used the standard scrolls that you can get by just playing the game, and even without scrolls I get pretty decent roles. (though specific roles like Jailor, Coven Leader, and Pirate are very rare for me, likely because they are scrolled by others often.) It's also important to keep in mind that scrolls don't actually affect the role list, just your chances of getting assigned that role. Here's how role generations works: the game creates a list of roles that matches the constraints of whatever role list the game mode has, then it goes through and assigns roles to every player; the scroll only changes your chances of being assigned a role already in the generated role list. (At least that's how it worked in ToS1, but I doubt they changed it.) So from a match balance standpoint, scrolls change nothing. I do understand and to an extent agree with your statement, though. It's just that from a non paying standpoint I haven't really felt the effects of it. This is just personal experience, so others may have differing experiences, but overall I wouldn't let it deter new players. I think the biggest issue for new players right now is the learning curve and the toxicity of some players that can follow. My first few games were actually pretty smooth since I've watched games from PipeTron (and others) before playing so I had some idea of what every role did and what some of the abbreviations meant, but I doubt many new players would be going into the game with that prior knowledge, and I'd bet that many would have some unfun first games as a result. The main thing I don't like is the advertisements. I stopped playing for a couple months and when I came back I saw that the start screen was flooded with random micro transactions that I generally hate in my games, and I especially don't like it because ToS2 was once not free on steam (which is when I bought it) and I'm beginning to wish it stayed that way.

@@samsungrefrigeratorcondens4354 I almost fully agree, but with the scrolls and tomes I meant what you said, that because a lot of people use powerful scrolls they get really rare Like for example I have pirate scrolls, but they rarely work because of the other people scrolling it, and I noticed that my jailor scrolls only actually started working since I got a few mythic ones from the cauldron. And the free to play perspective you mentioned, I'm also f2p so I can't really tell you about how the Tome is, but I have a friend who bought the Tome of Fate, scrolls TPow and she almost always gets a TPow. But yeah, you broke it down really well and I agree, but the Tome is a really big problem, especially how it gets even more broken over time

@@valaki4227 Yeah, I get it. I never really scrolled those super popular roles so I wasn't really thinking about them. It's unfortunate that some roles are almost completely impossible to get for f2p players because the scrolls don't work. Thanks for your perspective.

I think TOS2 is an objectively more polished and balanced game, which is why i prefer it more and chose to talk about it, but you are welcome to stick with whatever you like

ToS1 is dying though, lots of players left on all any are throwers
