I don't see the controversy... You pro men have forehand in the middle, and it's much more effective with more power, spin, and accuracy. High level women players understand. Now if you play with a lefty woman then it would play out a a bit different. She could and should take certain balls in the middle depending on what angle they are coming at.

I am so bad at this. My coach is constantly telling me to be more assertive on middle balls, and I just cannot do it, it feels so wrong.

I paused this out the gate. I've seen dudes literally push their female partner out of the way, going all the way to the sideline for a ball. I've seen very many females show their 'disgust' at the male players who run them over going for a ball. When I first started watching pb a year ago, it seemed silly playing mixed doubles because the male seemed to be taking 90 percent of the shots.

If you're playing seriously to win, you have to have the stronger player get big in the middle. Rec play is different if you're just playing for fun, no need to take up that much court if your partner didn't agree to it beforehand. Nice vid.

Thanks for clearly demonstrating the role of forehand player for middle and high balls. How about if you play with a lefty? Would you play the same or let her to hit the high balls going towards her forehead?

Thank you, Christian. I thought it was how crappy the Vulcan ball is but nobody can say anything because PPA will screw them over. Fantastic match against BJ and ALW. Both teams were evenly matched IMO, with just a few lucky shots on them to win. I hope you stay with EW. She has become an incredible player. me and my wife play straight up but she plays the left as well as most guys and i get some right side play to practice backhand ernies , btw i play with the tko-cx 12.7

I think it depends on your partner and how they feel about it at least in rec play. Sometimes if my partner is slow getting to the kitchen I will get a dink on their side and then we can call switch.

If you're below 3.5, just play more and try to have fun, win or lose. If you're 3.5~4.4 drill as much as you play. 4.5 and up, drill as much as you can. Ben and Colin Johns don't play at all outside of tournaments, they only drill. Importantly, try to drill with players who are much better than you, because they will give you the best advice.

@@dude7597 CP is certainly NOT the #1 female pickleball player. ALW is #1 in all divisions by a wide margine, except women's doubles only because CP is her parter and she played an extra tournament she didn't with someone else.
