It's an aesthetic thing for Memphis rap. No one is out killing people and making beats from it. Memphis takes a lot of influence from horrorcore. They literally want the image of "I'll murder you and sacrifice you to the devil" because that's the genre. Doesn't mean people are actually doing that.
There’s no such thing as a Memphis rap sigil, in-fact this is just normal horror rap, popular back in the 90’s, sampling horror beats ex, Michael Myers and turning it into a song, had some really good songs too

I listen to Memphis rap a lot and have an auntie and uncle from that era of Memphis. Yea some of the tracks I’ve heard were confirmed to have been taped over murder scenes, dark and abandoned places where bodies can’t be found because no one will ever go to such places they don’t trust. If I find it I’ll leave it here in the comment but I heard some songs that featured really weird and warped screams, sfx, and sound loops that are constant within songs. One song I cannot find now is of an old tape pic and the whole song was like a freestyle that was done rushed but you can hear just different eerie sound fx playing in the background. I 100% know that’s what they did this back than because of these weird locations bodies would be found at almost like purposefully killed or placed in places that were great for recording at or just record nearby the bodies.

As a person who listens to Memphis rap, I can agree that it’s pretty cursed and it’s not too noticed among people. That was a while back when people made them but there are some rappers that still make them.

There are also certain experimental type musics that people speculate are actually heavily altered audio of murders. If you've ever heard of these or know what this genre is nicknamed, you know what I'm talking about. That stuff sounds like if a computer got possessed
to be honest this is one of types of rap I love the most, the ominous vibe, the low and slow beat, the disturbing but calming voice of the rapper it's just awesome. and no, I don't think that's actually true, remember kids don't believe everything you hear on the internet

I listen to black metal bro . Mayhem literally took pictures of their murdered front man and put it on an album cover. If that's not cursed idk what is.
For one the frontman wasn't murdered, it was suicide. Second, the bassist did take photos of the body but the album itself was a bootleg. Doesn't make it any less morbid though, especially considering how the bassist had moved things around to make the photos look "better" and he apparently collected skull fragments, made necklaces out of them and gave them out to people he deemed "worthy". But that was just the beginning to the.. Mayhem they'd end up causing along the way, including multiple church burnings, two murders (including the bassist) and causing the death of at least one in the fires
@@sackettandres9457 What Black Metal cause it's dark and awesome. Those freaks in Mayhem did some fucked up shit back in the day for sure,but I still like the music. That said not a huge fan of Mayhem I prefer bands like Emperor or Bathory.
