Today we take you on a 3-prong spearfishing journey, targeting one of the most buttery and delicious fish on the reef, the Yelloweyed Kole! The water around the Big Island had been rough for the past few months, so we were stoked to finally get back in the water for some diving.
Brandon creates an epic gyotaku fish-print with the Kole, blending both the traditional and modern styles of the art form in one!
Most times, Kole are deep-fried crispy, but for this dish we created a delicious Kole Pot Pie using fresh, local Ulu (Breadfruit) and smoked mozzarella cheese.
Another full circle process from start to finish...definitely not your average Catch and Cook!
