i think there needs to be an honorable mention entry here. like you said, every fighter needs to be a little delusional.... for any number of reasons. sometimes its just because they dont want to admit defeat. sometimes they're just plain wrong. sometimes they're just hyping themselves up, cause i mean, if you dont believe in yourself, why should anyone else? but this dude im about to name... hes special. cause he wasnt delusional for any of the reasons i mentioned above. this guy wasnt wrong in what he said. he was actually on point. i dont think he was even hyping himself up, because at the time (i could be mistaken, but he was ranked higher and his opponent was relatively new). and that man is james vick. i think thats his name. hes that irrelevant. but the stuff he said to justin gaethje... was all on point. he was 100% right about everything. he just isnt that dude. even if he may have been more established at the time, he was never that good. i just think he deserves to have at least some spot in mma history even if its just him getting all the talking points correct, then getting his ass beat.
