I wrapped a p71 out of PA around a telephone pole. My truck pulled it out of the bank I was in. And it drove. Drove perfectly fine actually. Hardly out of alignment and with a complete S curve in the B pillar. Ford used to manufacture great cars. Not the politically driven ball-less GARBAGE now.

I have P72 as daily driver. It's really fast, but very far from stock, of course. 351W F4TE roller block from E250, ported heads, good Weiand dual-plane intake, AVS2 carb, HEI ignition, HV oil pump and water pump, full-aluminum huge radiator with 2 fans, and heavy modified AOD with 4R70W gears in it. And 3.73 rear end instead of 2.73 stock one. When I buy it, it rotten as fuck, I can literally brake with my shoes, but the frame is nice, so some MIG welding and all OK.

I was actually hoping the police or other law enforcement would see this guy driving reckless like this and throw the book at him. Driving down the access road one day 55mph in my vic, no signs, boom hit a step in the pavement and got 3 feet of air. Landed and expected it to be folded up. It was perfect, still driving it to this day.

While it does suck that it gets destroyed, people do stuff like this to cars that are, in theory, not long for this world. The kinda cars that spent 20 years getting battered and worn down by police or fleet service. Theres a charm to getting a junker that would normally be scrap and sending it to valhalla in a memorable way. Gives the car a fun end to its live instead of a slow sad one

The good thing about them being so popular is that ford made hundreds of thousands of them, so they are still everywhere over 10 years after producrion despite being used extensively for derbies and hooning

Last V8, RWD, body on frame sedan (the latter of which, BOF car period) ever made. Idk man it’s one thing to do that to a 20 year old Kia or something but these things are worth a lot more than they actually cost IMO and many others’ as well.

When I was little, we had a Chevy pickup catch on fire when my mom and I was in it my mom was driving and that was back in the late 70s. The whole cab ended up a burned up rusty piece of metal. I was about 8 or 9 about 1979 or 1980. I believe it was the winter of 1979 I was in 2nd grade I think.
