Here we explore how song composition can results in louder mixes. DISCLAIMER - I don't mean to say you should compose all your music this way. This is just a demonstration of a fundamental concept. There are many ways to carve out space including EQ, side chain dynamics, etc. Just consider this another tool on your tool belt.
I don't normally use superlatives, but in this tutorial you will see that giving each sound it's own space allows for more perceived volume and results in being easier to compress or limit into a louder sounding track. This is why "call and response" style electronic music has become so quite popular. Isolated transients sound louder. And again, not always better, just louder.
