Without a doubt the Easyrig is an essential piece of film gear for handheld camera work if you want to have any sort of longevity in your career as a filmmaker / cinematographer. After years of renting I've finally purchase my own Easyrig Vario 5 complete with a Stabil G2 arm, a somewhat overpriced back saver.

Nicely done, great video! As you mentioned the price is out of reach for some people. Everything is Made in Sweden, that's the reason why the price is so high. The Easyrig could be made in China for a tenth of the cost, but then it would not be the same quality as it is now. For example, we see Easyrigs at shows etc, that have been used for 15 years without deteriorating, the only thing we suggest is that the user change the line every 2-3 years depending on use. And if you want any tips on how to adjust the Vario 5 & STABIL please send us a mail and we'll help you out ASAP. Have a nice day!

Is there any way that we customers can buy the line separately?

My god found you through the cinematographers insight fb page. great video. What i loved about it the most is the actual insider things and not just another youtube things. I have been looking into the actual cinematography for quiet some time and i hope your channel will help me for sure. I dont know why you dont have many subscribers but that does not matter. Keep making great videos.

@scottpeters - do you recommend the stabil arm version - just asking as the standard version is cheaper but would be good to know if over time you feel the Stabil is worth it.

Thanks for this. Do you actually find the stabil arm makes a huge difference for the extra price? I'm looking for a vest for triathlon race footage (I'm cycling next to them) so need something stable that can hold my RS2

Hi Scott ! Is the Stabil G2 worth having, even in terms of size difference (compared to the 130mm arm) ? Using the umbrella holder seems to be a bit trickier also. I guess the Stabil Arm is more dedicated to gimbal operating rather than handheld stuff ? Thx 😉
@travisp.hodgkinson.artist

That's what I'm thinking as well.
@bastienchill
@bastienchill 2 года назад
@@travisp.hodgkinson.artist Now, I own a Vario 5 + Stabil G2. It gives the camera a floating effect thanks to the vertical suspension axis, even when using it handheld. It also helps smoothing my steps on moving shots. Even if it’s quite big, I feel like it’s a more versatile tool and a great addition even if I am not using a gimbal.
@ScottPetersFilms
@ScottPetersFilms 2 года назад
Sorry guys I'm rubbish... fully with Bastien, I'm onboard for the Stabil G2 on both accounts in terms of versatility. I also recently got the additional EasyTilt for when using a gimbal with it which really makes life a lot easier.

Thanks for the video. I'm curious how you like the Flex vest. I have a standard Vario 5 and am going to sell it and purchase a G3 Stabil setup so I'm comparing the different vests. I know the Flex vest was originally intended for female operators, but I don't care about that at all, and thing it might be more comfortable for males as well. What made you pick the Flex, and how do you like it compared to the other I see you wearing in the photos you added. Thanks!
@ScottPetersFilms
@ScottPetersFilms Год назад
You're welcome! Honestly the main reason I bought the Flex over the standard is because I was offered it at a much cheaper rate when buying a bunch of stuff from a retailer, I guess they maybe don't sell as many of them? But I do find it feels more supportive, the ONLY thing is if you sweat, it's gonna insure you sweat more across the chest, but now that I've experienced both options this would be my pick.

Great video. I’m about to buy an Easyrig although I’m torn between getting the stabil light/minimax with a max payload of 15.4 pounds or the standard vario 5 without the g2 arm (to keep cost down) How much does the stabil arm help for handheld work? My current rig is pretty light at 14.6.
@idabachee
@idabachee Год назад
I've got the Vario 5 w/ STABIL (OG version) and it's amazing. I highly recommend the STABIL arm. When it's balanced and tensioned right you can get some amazing results for those walking shots. It's that handheld look with an elevated look and no shot killing wobbles even after hours of use on set.

Have an easyrig minimax at the moment and considering the upgrade to vario 5 stabil g2 - it’s almost 3 times heavier though. Would you say it’s worth y payoff despite being heavier (my camera rig is just over 5kg)
@ScottPetersFilms
@ScottPetersFilms 2 года назад
I’ve not worked with the smaller models, so can’t comparatively say, but what I would say is I’ve never considered the vest heavy, it’s not a burden to wear or anything.

If you have a camera rig of 5kg, get the Minimax with STABIL Light. I bought the upgrade and am very pleased with it.

Now I'm deciding whether or not to get the Stabiliser G2 or not. There are so many mixed reviews. If I'm not using a gimbal, is it better just to avoid it?

Stabil arm all the way for me. Serene arm I've always found a bit distracting when working the few times I've used it, swinging out when I don't want it too independent to the Easyrig arm (if you don't have it cable tied in place).
@JasonCohenphoto
@JasonCohenphoto 2 года назад
@@ScottPetersFilms thanks for that. It's what I've been leaning towards so that helps... Do you find the Stabil is helpful even when not using a gimbal? I.e. only camera?

How and where did you purchase it with 3450 pound? I need me one if I can buy it with the price...!
@ScottPetersFilms
@ScottPetersFilms 3 года назад
I bought mine from the legends at CVP.com here in the UK. They very kindly gave me a heavy discount as I spent a lot of money there buying a number of things at the time. I also had to settle for a less sold model that is designed for female operators, which means a slightly more sweaty chest if you’re someone like me who starts to perspire after operating for more than 5 minutes on account of the extra support, but well worth it for the added savings.
