I remember the Hassselblads back in the 90's when they were medium format film cameras- never had one but they had THE reputation for being the Mercedes of cameras. (I had a Mamiya) These shots are SO sharp, crisp, clear and lovely- the resolution is amazing. Great job- it truly is not just the camera, but the person behind it!

@@IreneRudnyk I see someone who doesn't try to pretend anything. I think that state of mind can open a window that person's thoughts, and feelings. FYI. Have your husband check into this solution for the PC. I'm using the Fuji GFX 100II and with files that are 200mb in size it can get slow with an external drive as you have experienced. I had to move to a internal SSD M.2 4TB drive, I import my RAW files to this drive, point LrC to this drive for editing, this drive is only used for editing current sets of pictures, export to the same drive as well, I don't install programs or use it as the operating system. When all done with the set, I then move it over to my NAS for storage, I'm a bit of a picture hoarder.

Regarding Capture One. Originally, C1 was the software to use only with Phase One medium format cameras. Later on C1 expanded into supporting other cameras, as long as there were not medium format, as they didn't want competitor cameras to be used with their software. Eventually, c1 software was spun off into a separate company from Phase One. Fujifilm somehow convinced C1 to allow their GFX cameras onto C1. I don't understand why Hassy has not been able to.
@IreneRudnyk

As a follow up. I'm a GFX100SII user, so I have same file size issues. I find performance on my Mac Studio, 64Mb RAM, M2 Pro chip, to be perfectly acceptable in Capture One. I do most of my editing there. I'll use Affinity Photo for minor tweaks before doing prints. Then, I work on the TIFF file which is even bigger. Yeah, it's slow saving even to SSD but perfectly manageable if dealing with only one or two images. (I'm not printing 100 files 😂)

Irene, the reason the camera is so light is that it's mirrorless, yes, BUT not exclusively an E- shutter, its a leaf shutter (remember the ep. with Drew, and Andrew Bolton?)-yes, that leaf shutter, so no mirror slap, focus sensors, etc. a compact lens and body.

Cameras actually almost always came with built in storage back then - at least the consumer aimed ones did, the likes of Sanyo (yes, Sanyo made digital cameras!). Glad to see you're having fun with the medium format! 9:00 This isn't about saving to an external drive. You;'re using "Save for Web" which isn't meant to process high resolutions; it’s optimized for smaller initial dimensions like web graphics or social media so you're 1350x1080 stuff. Using it on full-resolution images causes massive delays, no matter where you save it too (internal or external) as it’s not designed for such large dimensions. On my X1D (50MP), it`s easily over a minute to save to an NVME. Regular "Save As" to JPEG is much faster-just a second or two-JPEG is already compressed, so the extra savings from "Save for Web" are minimal and neglible. Resize your images first before invoking save for web or stick with "Save As" for better efficiency.
@IreneRudnyk
@IreneRudnyk 15 дней назад
Hm my R5 files don’t take much time to save with the same method. But I’ll try your suggestion :)
@andyvan5692
@andyvan5692 15 дней назад
one tip, the files are called 3F, fff or FFF they need phocus (new), or Flexcolor (scanning software for the Flextight scanners)- is FREE, and has a tab for conversion (exporting from 3F to Tiff), which is something every software can see. By the way, those shots aren't exactly raw (as in sensor data), the lens characteristics (CA, Vignetting, sharpness, colour cast) are "edited out" via an automatic lens profile correction, what you see (even on the lcd monitor), is a jpeg interpretation of this data, for BEST effect, as Hassy wants you to see it.
@IreneRudnyk
@IreneRudnyk 15 дней назад
I tried Phocus to see if it converts the raw files differently then Lightroom and didn’t see a difference I just stuck with Lightroom.
@andyvan5692
@andyvan5692 15 дней назад
@@IreneRudnyk there isn't any noticeable affect on the image, its in the files, the lens profile thats created, is added differently to the raw when converted, also phocus features, like live view, tethering, remote shooting and others are only available in phocus, but glad you got the images you did, Fantastic, but notice the shadow/ detail recovery, in the edit vs the raw?, Thats the joy of owning this system (I have a H1 with Phase one P45+ and a H2 with the cf i-express back {hasselblads' own design} ), this is the 17 stops of dynamic range working in your favour! I first saw it photographing in my local market (indoors, with fluorescent lights in store counters)- the shot was way under exposed, but the files still recovered the products in the display, it blew my mind at first, but it's just the nature of MF digital, magic, what one can capture with it.
@JoshuaJonesPhoto
@JoshuaJonesPhoto 15 дней назад
Yes that’s right it’s the lens profile and distortion correction which could play with the dynamic range of the edges

@IreneRudnyk 14 дней назад
Got it! Thank you for the explanation, I’ll give it another try.
@andyvan5692
@andyvan5692 14 дней назад
@@IreneRudnyk everyone does things differently, and Yes, some oem software isn't always the greatest (Nikon & canon raw converters, just to name a couple), but this one is designed for the file sizes of this system, so even if a bit complex, clunky etc compared to lightroom, its the speed at which such large files are handled (keeping in mind layers, presets, and other settings are added to the file, as separate "bags" when exported), so just the file size from the camera isn't the final size of the exported image, ALL others Can do it, just takes longer, and for fine art / portraiture / fashion /boudoir shots done commercially a LOT of shots are used, dealt with; so this speed is what keeps everyone in deadlines, and not waiting for files to load/save, etc. thats why Phase One and Hasselblad have these software packages , they are in a different league, so solutions need to be found to their specific issues, requirements, the high Pixel count is important for quality, so you can't dump anything!, thats why they exist, to preserve as much of this $60,000 camera's image quality as possible, so the client sees why such an expensive camera was used. (more so the Hasselblad H6D, Phase One XF with IQ4, the iq4 is 150 MP, but some H backs for the Hasselblad can go as high as 400MP!!)- this is what the software is designed to protect, these Ultra high MP images, even if you only shoot with a 47MP camera, this is what the software was designed for, and to keep up with this technology, if anyone would exceed this, the software can support it (no planned obsolescence here 🙂 ).

As always great images. When it comes to the Hasselblad X2D, I really want to love the camera, and in some ways it is a great camera. The ergonomics are really nice, and the build quality feels second to none. Hasselblads colour science is the best, and as a studio photographer I love that the camera has an extremely fast flash sync speed due to the leaf shutter lenses. But there are a couple of things which just drive the camera off a cliff for me. The autofocus I found to be very average, to below average depending on the lens being used, and the EVF, which, when it works, gives a great image, but so often I would put my eye up to the viewfinder and nothing would happen, or be incredibly laggy. It is a real shame because in so many ways the X2D blows the GFX100II out of the water but in important areas, even my GFX100s, just works so much better.
@IreneRudnyk

Because of the leaf shutter the camera needs to close the shutter before an exposure and also lacks af-c both contribute to af performance problems resulting in a lower keeper rate when shooting wide open. Hasselblad files are also unneseccary large and in the long run a build in ssd has far more disadvantages, just think of drive failures…. Cf express is already faster too

Use Hasselblad Phocus software to transfer and save your images for best result, then use Capture One for edit ;o) Always best to use original software first. Myself enough just Phocus software for light editing as I like original look of portrait, and Hasselblad is the best camera for natural colours.
@willgavillan
@willgavillan 14 дней назад
Try an ssd for external drive. You might also want to try hasselblad’s software for raw conversion. Phase one, capture one’s parent company, was direct competitor with hasselblad. Now that hasselblad no longer makes cameras that directly compete with phase one’s offerings, there may be a chance of support in capture one, but wouldn’t hold my breath. For capture one to get best out of cam sensors, they need cooperation from cam manufacturers.

I wonder why it’s not a thing anymore?

@@IreneRudnyk Manufacturers could decide not to include internal storage for several reasons. Even though the price of storage has dropped significantly, it's still an added cost that some people might not be willing to pay for. It would also need to physically fit somewhere in the camera. 😊

A detail, the X2D autofocus is far better than the X1D or X1D ii and the same goes for the new V lenses (Like the 90mm Irene is using) vs beauties like the 80mm 1.9 that will struggle more often. The camera does not track so for something artistic like most of Rudnyk's work it will work if neither she nor the model moves. We can see in the video that she is moving back and forth as she is pressing the shutter, the camera does not track and it stays on the initial position. That is unexpected for any camera sold in the last 20 years, so we can't blame Irene for that.

Yes! I was moving when pressing the shutter, I only realized that when watching the video back, I will definitely try to be more still next time

Don't drop it, don't drop it, don't drop it, lol It's the same model camera I prompt in designing my AI models. Good choice.

love the video! CaptureOne doesn't support Hasselblad because they see each other as MF competition, but don't see FUJI as competition 🤣

Yeah I learned that phase one is blocking the Hasselblad raw files on C1, it’s a shame really.

Amusing seeing someone using x2d as if it's a 35mm SONY or Canon. Not saying the photos are bad.
