🔥 ARE THESE THE BIGGEST IRONS EVER? 🔥
Liam Harrison has official HANDICAP index 5.6 which gives him 7 shots at Chorlton Cum Hardy Golf Club which has a slope rating of 134. In this video he plays with some of the biggest, forgiving irons ever made. They are Callaway Big Bertha from around 1996. The set was purchased via EBAY & cost £160 for the set.
HOW do you think Liam will do?
WHAT will he score ?
ARE these the biggest set of Irons EVER?
If interested in Buying this set of irons contact David.golfmates@gmail.com
KEEPING CALM - How to make par, accept the bogie & make the odd Birdie but always aiming to keep doubles of the scorecard.
Course conditions were very tough with long fairways with limited roll-out.
The course is playing much longer yardages than normal.
The rough is up & the greens are still recovering from a wet winter, there is no raking of bunkers with LOCAL RULES in place allowing lift & place in the sand.
His strategy is fairways & greens & not taking on dangerous high risk shots using good COURSE MANAGEMENT to get the most out of his game.

I played for about 6 years with the 1 iron from this exact set, same shafts. It was brilliant, never had a wood of any kind in my bag for that time. Back when I could swing a club properly.

I have been using the Big Bertha 1996 with stiff shafts for years and love them. I'm getting older (65) and have had a couple of back surgeries. I certainly don't need these stiff shafts anymore. I was going to re shaft to regular shaft but the process was a PIA due to the bore through design. Found a full set on ebay with regular shafts very reasonable. I think I hit the jackpot! I really enjoyed this video, thank you!

My dad bought a set new, and as we were golfing I misfit my 3 iron (blades) into the water short on a par 5 (hit it thin). My dad said try his 3 iron and everything he says is true about big and ugly but I smoothed his 3 iron over the green straight over the pin. He gave me the set and bought himself another. Only problem is there is ZERO feedback so you can lose your swing. So I went to Mizuno MP-32’s. Still, 25 years later, I put them back in the bag: swinging slower, not as grooved as I once was and I’m loving them again.

I bought my X12's in the mid 90's, my third set of clubs. My first was a set of Wilson's and we're used when I got them. Used them for sixteen years. Then, a brand spanking new set of Top Flites, mistake. Only used them for a few years. Big Bertha were recommended by a good friend, came am still playing them today. Love em'. Go to the range and get used to them, do another video, and then, like Tiger's iron's, pass them around the horn. Let's see what the boys can do with them? And if needed,do am sure YMJ can give you a lesson or two?😂😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍👍👍 Good video as always. And thank you and Joe, for taking the time out to entertain us like you do. Fantabulistic?

Liam, has anyone ever mentioned to you to try aiming the clubhead first, then lining up your feet. You do it backwards by lining up your feet first, then the only time you put the clubhead behind the ball is when you are about to hit. This is where you are going wrong most times. You have to line the square clubhead behind the ball first, then line up with your feet. Hope this helps. Regards.

Great video, Liam and Joe! As for your alignment issue, one thing that’s helped me is dragging a line in the grass with the club, in line with the target, about where your feet line up. It’s visible enough to use, and it it may just be legal to do. Don’t quote me on that...

I inherited a set from my dad - trick with these is slow your swing right down. Power doesn't help. just swing sweet and let the club do the work. I find above a 5 iron a bit tricky and the SW has a tendency to trampoline. But considering the age totally usable clubs for a hak.

I have a buddy who gamed these for years. Not only are they crazy big but very strong lofted for older clubs and probably the most offset I've ever seen this side of Ping. I can remember a LOT of guys played them back in the day, probably second in numbers only to the Ping Eye 2s...

Think you got into your own head with the looks putting you off, but as you said, if you don`t like the look, its hard to trust them and just put your normal swing on the ball. I had 3 through 9 irons and then got myself some wedges I liked, took loads of shots off my game! Glad to see you have found a putter that is working too, at least for this month!

I owned a set of Steelhead Big Bertha’s that I too agree with their size, was massive. I felt intimidated with anything from a German through to the wedges. The 4,5,6,7,8 felt great & I hit them well. But the lack of confidence due to their brutal size around the green put me off. My son’s friend plays with them now and he loves them. The wedges are brilliant, I've holed multiple shots from around 50 yards or further. So accurate and consistent. But for my swing, I do not find the irons as forgiving as advertised, based on the weighting of them. I've used cheap Walmart irons that had better weighting and therefore gave me more confidence.

Interesting to see you think about going chunky, I tried it a few years back but now play P770s and handicap is lower than ever - it's all a mystery....

I remember those irons from nine golf stores. If I remember correctly, they were amoung the most expensive irons on the market.

The Analyser is the Analysed,... it's not the clubs Liam, it's the one using them, paralysis by analysis.... Namaste ✌🏼🙌💚🌞👍

Came across my first set of irons. I bought them in the late 90’ties for two bottles of red wine and they where outdated even then. I will take them out to the course and compare to my present set.

I had a knock off set of these in high school for a brief period before switching to the Tommy Armour 845 Oversize irons. Ah the good ole days!

I remember those. Old guys in Walterboro SC use to clean me out with those in the late 90s. Well a dollar a hole lol

Have you thought about using the Slazenger FAST irons Liam? They have massive backs on them and weights so you can aid a fade or a draw! I remember that Sam Torrance and Kenny Dalgliesh used to promote them on the old golf channel!!
