This is so inspiring. The sound and light propagation, the rustle of the trees and grass, the 3D surface texture of the cobblestones and reflections in the marble all come together to create an ambiance that just isn’t seen in games... Your world is so passively full and vibrant; it’s a place that I just want to spend time in...
Only problem is that when you look at objects from near, voxels get obvious and it looks 144P. However I think it's something that'll be fixed with way more advanced modelling
John do you understand how good this game looks. While I don’t know you, i expect after working on the same thing for a while u might be a bit burnt out but, this game look absolutely incredible. Really hope you continue to develop it because i will pay too get my hands on an early access of this game.
Just saying what everyone else is: This is LITERALLY THE COOLEST THING I’VE SEEN. I would 100% buy this as a game the second I could get my hands on it. Keep up the great work!
Yes I’ve been waiting for this video! This is so incredible! I’m so excited to see what else you have in store for this! The building mechanics look really fun to mess around with, and it seems you’ve enjoyed yourself working on this too lol. This project is super incredible, keep up the incredible work!
I really love the look of this! It's very gorgeous and technically impressive, which makes me afraid it would fry my poor laptop. It kinda looks like you're making Minecraft 2, which I'm sure you've heard before, but I mean that in the best way possible.
There's so much potential in this game, different bioms, randomly generated structures, underground caves... I expect to see this game to be released/announced around 2023~2025, because it needs (and is receiving) a lot of love and passion. I except it to be a peaceful creative experience, not a survival game, I don't think it would fit it's atmosphere, that would limit it's longevity as a game, but I can see myself playing it from time to time to relax. If it's going to have a survival mode, I'm really curious how the mobs would be handled, seems really difficult to create living things with voxels.
This has such an amazing dreamlike quality to it. The lighting, the colors, and the way all the foliage sways in the wind feels so vibrant and tangible. I've really enjoyed each new video, and this implementation of building mechanics looks very interesting. The HUD design is pleasant as well. Looking forward to seeing more! Edit: The brick, wood, and marble textures look excellent.
I think i found my favourite thing about computers and videogames. We all support you on this absolutely beautiful, worthy and amazing journey and I among all the others, will be one of the first to get the game as soon as it's released. Godspeed and all the very best!
Just discovered this project. I'm totally loving it. The colours, the 8-bit feel, mutatable world, physics. Looking forward to where it goes next. Great work!
I would say stuff about how awesome and beautiful everything is, but you have tons of those comments already. So instead I’ll say how unbelievably impressed I am by all these physics. I can’t believe word hasn’t spread about this. How did I just find out about this today???
This is awesome dude. I hope this can go on to be a game with success on the magnitude of Minecraft, or maybe even the engine licensed for use by other companies to base their games on. Keep at it dude!
Voxel's are just 3D pixels, a pixel is a 2D square, a voxel is a 3D cube the nice thing about this is, what you can do with pixels (shader effects), you can do with voxels but in 3 dimensions, that is why imo voxels are so awesome and powerful. Don't think of the voxel "cubes" has normal rasterized triangle based cubes they are not, think of it as just a pixel that got a third dimension, depth.
This is nothing short of incredible. Everything about this game / engine is absolutely stunning, I will definitely download this the second it is available. I tried to think of ways this could look better, and honestly the only thing I could think of is maybe a cleaner looking UI could be implemented down the road. That's literally it. This is no doubt one of the freshest game concepts I've ever seen, and the execution is beyond amazing. Hopefully it comes out soon, but feel no need to rush. keep up the good work!
A game in which you can build a lot of different structures but without the limitations of minecraft cube style is my dream game! It seems that you’re building the foundations for something like that si this makes soooo excited to see! Keep it up! I’ll gladly pay for it when it comes out
How can something with such harsh, sharp, jagged edges... Look _so soft, gentle and welcoming?_ Legit i can't get over the trees, the "thick" look to the leaves, for lack of a better word, is so nice as they rustle about in the light. Also, this is a very nice color palette too. - u -
You're doing such incredible work with this. It's truly impressive what you've managed to build so far. Can't wait to see your further progress, updates, and additions. Keep it up!
Pretty interesting how youtube tagged the game as minecraft. To be honest though, if you added gameplay elements like a survival mode, incentive to explore the world, and a (possibly more physically grounded) mining and crafting system, the resulting game would be incredibly fun. That being said this already looks great and just building things in your voxel world looks deeply satisfying. I can't wait to see what you do with this.
Exceptional, would love to 'play' in the same sandbox. From my days in 'Second Life' to building in 'Rust', but this is extraordinary. Love it. Keep up the great work sir.
I think my favorite part is the lighting and reflections. 👌 The sound pathing is aa close second. The decided level of granularity is also perfect IMHO. Great job, Lin, it's going to be cool to put some bread in your cupboard and see where you take this.
This looks much more superior in terms of lighting compared to the last video, but... The graphics fidelity and the voxels size in the last one is insane, combining them together would be wow Edit: looked at the description of the last video, path traced lighting is present🤔 Seems that you tuned atmospheric volumetric differently here, so lighting doesn't look that impressive compared to the previous videos. Anyway great job, thrilled to see your future achievements
Looking forward seeing more of your progress. I am completely amazed over your work. And I would believe, that you will have great success, when you decide to shape it into a game. Personally, being a great fan of Minecraft. It began with the most simple of designs and over the span of years it developed. With the mod support, there are so many possibilities and new innovations. I don't know about you, if you have a team or not. But comparing to Minecraft, Notch started on his own and later got a team which helped him. I think what you have shown goes beyond what Minecraft is. Hence why I am excited to see where you will be taking what you have created. If I was to say something, the concept of a sandbox game, with building and some kind of progression, with exploring and procedural generation, would interest me the most. It is simple, yet complex. And I have the feeling you have played Minecraft. But what you are creating is something else, it is your vision and creativity that shines. Pablo Picasso is widely quoted as having said that “good artists borrow, great artists steal.” Whether or not Picasso was truly the first person to voice this idea is in some dispute. Regardless, as an graphic designer, I always look for inspiration from others and even steal ideas, but create through that something unique from my own source of inspiration and creativity. The best of luck and creativity to you! Take your time to create, I am rooting for you!
Absolutely mindblowing. I can't wait to try this myself! One nitpick tho - can physics affected voxels also snap to world grid positions? Right now falling chuncks breaks immersion for me. Otherwise - no complaints. You creating something really special
Breaking apart in chunks, and generating a collision mesh is a lot more performant than iterating through every block. It would be cool if the blocks settled back into the voxel grid when they land though.
The amazing thing is how fun it looks to just wander around messing with the environment. I think it really is an ultimate canvas. I just wish there were more animals and bugs and stuff that dog looked great id like to see surreal druid villages and island villiages and desert villages and indiun villiages filled with blurred surreal pixelated primitive people. But im also interested in things like simulation of weather and erosion. Biome linkage and etc more features for the environment it all looks alive already
This game looks so beautiful, I love the environment, the colors, the animations :-) I just hope the gameplay will not be a copy of minecraft but something at least partially different with some added originality.
With the way this has turned out so far, there is no doubt in my mind that it will be filled with unique and creative gameplay mechanics to back it up.
I mean to be honest, This I don't think will have any survival elements, Its just gonna be like minecraft creative but if minecraft was a more realstic game, Kinda like these small minecraft animations the make about water....
But everything IS made of small cubes that is no lie, I think what you meant to say, is that visually, voxel tech has reach a stage that we can use so much voxels that more organic, less cube like shapes, can be created.
Absolutely beautiful, idk why but I like more this sort of amazing artwork of graphics instead of that "realistic" type that some modern companies invest soo much that they actually forget about the gameplay, anyways I still think this is better it gives me a relaxing vibe, and I think it's more realistic that those modern "realistic" games
very nice! have you considered making bricks shatter and form piles? it would be more realistic. masonry doesn't usually brake into massive chunks IRL.
I believe this is the future of making immersive sim worlds. Liked and subscribed. I mostly code software focused on data bases. But after watching this video I want to start coding with computer graphics. 😎
Looks amazing. Footsteps volume breaks the immersion a bit (its worse when your on brick/stone). Beautiful landscape sounds in the background, sharp footstep sounds ice-picking your eardrum in the foreground lol
