I think including a portrait of maybe Abbas The Great in a thumbnail instead of the last ruling member of Pahlavi dynasty would have been more fitting for a Safavid Persia video. Nice video though, as always.
I fully agree. The reason I didn't is because I didn't find good quality one (there are high resolutions ones, but with artifacts for some reason). So the was between Ismail (whom I have already used), and modern Iranian ahahs.
I have discover a somewhat mid effort starts, still pain and still have rng but easier and somewhat consistent. Get attacked by QQ and get vassalized by them, if you have 2-3 province QQ will accept vassal surrender. After that just relax and build up your economy and manpower then ask Mamluk to support your independence once the truce is ups. The benefit of this strats is having Mamluk as an ally because usually as Ardabil Shia, you have little to no alliance. Pro tips : If Gilan has no ally at 11 december, tommorow it will ally Timurid. Also i take the burgher loans after not before finishing the first war with Biapas(and maybe Gilan) since 20 ducats is nothing, you could finish the first war without recruiting any unit except free company. Oh and if you do get vassalized by QQ no need to take loans until independence war and also focus on admin rather than mil
Only two safavids had good portraits: Ismail, and Abbas. Ismail was already used by me in previous videos, and Abbas' portrait quality leaves a lot to be desired
Nice video BUT))) This start is REALLY suboptimal for ironman save copiers like myself. Ajam MUST declare on Biapas. Save and restart until it does. And you MUST ally Mushasha day 1. Then you drag GIlan and Mushasha into a defensive war vs Ajam by taking Biapas as a vassal. You can simultaneously conquer Shirvan, who will 99% of the time only be allied to Ajam by 1445 or 1446. You need 2 stacks of mercs and loans are just a number. After that you core Ajami land, 100% Georgia, getting Samtske as a vassal, then dec on Timi with a morale advisor and -100 Mysticism for stackwipes. You can go for QQ before or after that. From there you will be a great power and can do whatever you want. That does require some restarts though, so get ready for some "fun". Also, coalitions are only scary if you don't truce time them.
QQ often attacks when you are busy with Gilan or whatever but because they get that Emirs of Baghdad thing it works out pretty well for you if you can grab Tabriz.
In regards to why the Ottomans didn’t join when you went to war with the Timurids while warned, the warning only applies to the “warners” neighbors. So if they don’t have a border with your target, you are ok.
Ive seen Shirvan only ally Gazikumukh once at the start. That was the start where i steamrolled through early game. Ardabil is a nice game to start but you become insanely strong once you beat up Ajam couple times it becomes very boring. Once forming Ehrehshah you are just god tier army with unlimited manpower and unlimited money (and I only took Offensive and Divine)
I saved every day and restarted until shirvan didn’t ally ajam it took 3 hrs and made an out side save as a restart point that way 90% of the rng is out of the way
Timurid civil war > Aq Qoyunlu conquers Qara Qoyunlu then Persian lands > Aq Qoyunlu civil war > Ardabil conquers Persian lands > Ardabil forms Persia.
