First off, I am LOVING the aesthetic, and your headband and outfit are so adorable. The Chitoge figure is so adorable! I love the pose and the pastel colors. Even though I usually put my boxes away for figures, I’m really digging the Steins;Gate one and would probably find some way to display it lol. Completely understand the feels about Ryuko. I also prefer her navy outfit which is why I couldn’t buy the red one. 😭
I was in the Exact same predicament with the Ryuko Bunny Figure. I was bouncing back in forth with the Red and Dark Blue and talked myself in to believing that I like the Red one just as much, but...obviously you know....im settling lol. The worst part is that I remember when the original was up for preorder, but I had so many figures already for preorder that she just didn't make the cut at the time. It happens...it is what it is. Don't feel bad, you didn't make a bad decision. Sometimes you got to spend the money to get what you really want.
The red on Ryuko IS SOOOO GOOOD THO 😭 I think she looks better in red 👀 Her haircolor is popping more :) But if you like the black/navy more, then its def worth all the penny^^ Great haul!
Don't worry, I agree with your decision for Ryuko. My take on it is if you're going to spend hundreds on figures, it should be ones that you REALLY like. Don't settle for less since every time you look at them, you are just going to be reminded of the figure you actually wanted.
i relate to the ryuko bunny situation. for a while i was trying to force myself to settle for the erina bare leg bunny, but i just prefer tights and i pulled the trigger and found her original release on zen market for an absurd price 😂 no regrets though, i know i would’ve felt underwhelmed if i ended up purchasing the bareleg
I just pulled the trigger on the Erina bunny with tights for like $600 from AmiAmi because I couldn't bring myself to spend any money on the bare leg version. First bunny ever but I've been wanting her for lkteral years and I missed the first preorder.
love the chitoge figure! just wanted to say that I think you inserted the metal rod wrong (should be angled towards her body and not towards her jacket) and that's why she's slanted
I only watched a couple of episodes of kill la kill so I'm not really attached to the character, but after looking at the rerelease vs the original I kinda like the red better. I feel like both colors work for her I'm just biased.
With regards to the question of color variants. I have all too many times "settled" on buying variant B, to only go and find variant A and then buy it too. You end up spending WAAYYYY more money than you would if you just bought the original one you wanted. Both Ryuko look great next to each other though.
I actually was so happy seeing the red vers. of Ryuko. I had missed the preorder for it by a few days however. Almost 2 months ago I was able to snag her (red vers.) for $380 on Mercari after shipping, which was only like 25-30$ because she was coming from someone only a few states away. I have her now and just finished paying her off a couple days ago. I do not regret. Her original color is also beautiful, however, and 550$ is EXPENSIVE but definitely a better price than what most go for now. I'm glad you were able to get her
Hey Hayley just wanted to point out that the metal rod on the Chitoge figure goes at a different angle, the figure should look at the same level just like it came in the blister package. Just try to experiment by rotating the rod on different angles. Hope this helps!
I also prefer the navy Ryuko bunny over the red Ryuko bunny. I feel that her red hair streak stands out more with the navy bunny suit, whereas it doesn’t stand out as much with the red bunny suit. With that being said, however, I did end up settling for the red bunny suit after seeing that it actually had these really pretty goldish/orangish highlights in it which makes the red bunny suit resemble her “Senketsu Kisaragi” version (and the navy bunny suit resembles regular Senketsu aka her uniform like you said). I actually saw someone selling her navy bunny suit for like $300 in a state close to me and that was the cheapest I ever saw her at, however, I just couldn’t justify it since their’s had a broken ear and the red bunny suit was readily in stock, brand new, and cheaper! I doubt the navy bunny suit will go down in price tbh. If anything, it’ll go up in price due to the fact being that the navy bunny suit is never coming back out for a rerelease. I LOVE your outfit and hair in this video btw!!

I persoanlly prefer the red suit one so it all worked out for me but like for a figure that's SO expensive you wanna make sure you're totally happy with it. Nice haul. Congrats on getting the bunny you wanted, I'm new to the hobby and with all the re-releases I keep thinking I should just settle for the cheaper option.... but I want the OG that costs an arm, a leg and probably a few first-borns. Managed to hold out and finally got my grail. The OG beetlejuice with the stiped suit. Very happy with her and glad I didn't cave and get the red tux one.
Congrats on the Holy Grails! Very good video. Just a heads up, I think you can keep adjusting Chitoge on her pole so she’s not angled upward, but forwards. I ran into the problem with her figure a while back, but after careful adjustment was able to get her on straight. Is this the case for other people?
Yup! Because the pole is a "square" if you look at it end on - so it's just unpegging and reinsert it by another 90 deg. When I first unboxed her I inserted the pole and she was exactly as how Hayley had it.
It is always good to get one grail for my birthday. I bought a figure that has been a grail for a long time. This isn't an anime figure and is not that expensive. It was $50, but ever since I saw it online, I have wanted to get the Mclafanre 12in black and red Robbert Patterson batman. When I got form mail and opened it up, I was so in love with all the figures in my small collocate that mixture of anime, superhero movies, and tv. This one is my favorite.
I'm usually a robot mecha figure collector, but I occassionally get bishoujo figures from the mecha shows. In 2019 on a whim bought this Ryuko 1/4 scale bunny because I loved the Gurren Lagann Yoko 1/4 bunny I got in 2018. No idea the prices for these fishnet stocking versions have gotten so insane. Wow. Glad you finaaly got one too.
I have the ryuko bunny as well. Kill la kill is my favorite anime ever. So I got the red version too. Great figure. Love her. She was my first (1/4) figure I ever bought.

I think that you should never compromise on the color/version you like the best because you're always going to look back and regret if you buy the alternate you don't like as much.
Red owner here (bases are the same), lucky for it me it was my preference, but I did pay double retail for my with tights Millim knowing a bare leg was likely to appear at some point. So fully understand the choice made. :)
My most expensive figure I paid for was the Meiko Shiraki catsuit figure. Got it fairly cheap compared to average prices but was still alot for what you get, but I just love the figure. My most expensive aftermarket pricing figure is probably this Meiko figure or even my Rikka Takarada figure by Kotobukiya.
I absolutely understand being picky about a color. I so badly wanted the OG Zero Two bunny, but her price kept going up and up and up. Then her bare leg version was announced. I ordered it. I paid for it. I got it. And I love it! Mostly. I get it. It's NOT the one you had been wanting, and hoping for. I prefer the red, but I'm also in the minority that prefer the bare leg versions. So even tho I don't have the red one, I still at least get her in all her long, bare legged glory.
I'm waiting for that new Kurisu fig. The pile of electronics behind her makes me really want a good Lain figure. I don't know how to explain it, but from certain angles and especially from far away, the Ryuko figure's face looks really chubby. I have the red one, though.

Yeah finding your holy garil figure feels goo, recently i got the Rindou Kobayashi bunny which i found on the "cheap" at just 900 USD, and man she look gorgeous on my room.
I personally prefer the red Ryuko bunny over the navy but for me a similar conundrum would be the 02 bunny. I want the red one so bad. I could have gotten the white one easily but I just so so badly wanted/want the red 02 bunny but I don’t think I’ll ever get it at this point. And what’s most important is you and what you like and want in your collection!
When I first got into bunnies Kallen from Code Geass was the one I really wanted but she is so much and than I saw she was getting a bare legged edition and I pre-ordered her knowing I wanted the one in tights more and than for Christmas this year my husband shocked me with the 2 bunnies I had on my wish list Kallen with the tights and Tessa Testarossa... I love them both so much.
I don't think it's dumb that you got the OG bunny of her at all, It's the one you like better and even with the red you probably would have regretted it. I always say follow your heart and you heart lead you to buy a figure you know you'd love. All in all I think you made the right choice :D
I prefer the black bunny. About after market, I wound not buy any figure if the price is above 20% the original. If i did not pre order it, i just forget it like it does not exist. Plus, there will always be a more beautiful figure in the future anyway.
I love that I’m not the only one who made a bad financial decision on a bunny haha😂💀Mine was chiaki nanami’s, don’t think she would get a rerelease anytime soon but even if she did in my opinion she needs the tights or she’s not worth it. Though in all seriousness though it’s only a bad decision if you spent the money on the red one then later on got the navy because you couldn’t stop thinking about it-or never got the navy at all and regretted it. So long as you’re paying your bills, have some savings here and there then the odd bad financial decision won’t make or break you.
I've always wanted the bunny Ryuko but I also wasn't going to spend my entire paycheck on her. But thankfully I preferred the red to the black so I was more then happy to get her! Just glad it wasn't a bear leg version because I love them with the tights.
I was super lucky with the OG Ryuko bunny figure. When the red one was released for preorder, I saw someone commenting on MFC that they were interrested in selling their og one since they prefered the red one, I messaged them and they just wanted what the new red one would cost. I was gobsmacked and so happy. I could not believe my luck, such a nice person.

No judgement! it is very subjective decision to make. I lucked out because i loved the red re released. But! sometimes when there is a figure i love i am willing to pay over price after market. If i can afford it (or even if it means to skip some meals later lol) It is an expensive hobbies and specially due to that better make it worth it and get what you love for that money. I'm glad you were able to get it for a not so so crazy amount like 75 k. Cheers!
The same exact thing happened with me… but with the Chika bunny. I found her for the same price around 55,000 yen when she’s been going for 75,000 in the aftermarket. I knew I needed Her with tights and not the bare legged. Sometimes we have to trust our instinct in this hobby. Haha I think You made the right call!
Hi just came across your channel after seeing your collaboration with Danielle Feiwah as i was watching her Fruit Basket ainme items which i love the ainme series. I am thinking of starting a figure collection as I usually just buy the ainme shows and i can rewatch them and the pushees. I am a big fan of Ghibli collection have all the dvd series. I think you should buy items that you love instead of settling for second best. As they aren’t cheap the figurines. And you end up thinking about the one you wanted which happens to me too. Or it gets sold after thinking about it too much and can miss out.
The Kurisu is excellent. Love her so much. I got her in a £2000 used figure unboxing haul video. She is one of my favourites and I am playing the complete edition on the Switch right now, maybe about 50% complete. Btw your hair band is very pretty. ^_^
Yeah, I don't know why standing bunnies have such plain bases. It's not like FREEing can't do better.. The saber I have, for example, have quite a nice base--still a flat base but quite nice. Consequently, my favorite bunny is NOT a standing bunny. It'd be my Jibril. The lack of base is a small part of it, but it does contribute. She is not my favorite character for which I have a bunny, but she is my favorite bunny. If I had bought something for 700 bucks, I think it would be 3rd place in term of expense. 4th to 6th are pretty close, one of which is also a second hand bunny. 1st place goes to Nier, 4k on figure and... another 2k on the case I'm commissioning for it, it's taking forever but will be glorious.
If it was easy to get at a good price it wouldnt really be a grail would it? :p I remember picking my grail up a while back for 43k yen and the feeling of instant regret for how much money you spent immediately followed by adrenaline when it actually arrives is definitely an experiance. Besides it worked out because the solaris price for it is over 110k at this point, aftermarkets do be crazy yo

Yay! Congrats on getting them grails. My first ever grail that I successfully bought was Ryuuko too - found her via MyFigureCollection mint in a sealed box for 59K JPY - and that was like in May of last year, so I agree what you paid was a lot, but she IS a beauty (and this is not the copium talking). You did the right thing by cancelling the red - look at it this way, someone else now gets a chance to preorder her (I did the same with the white Zero Two when I found the OG red on Amazon JP), win-win! I have the Alter Chitoge too (and this was thanks to an earlier video of yours IIIRC) and found her this past April on YJA (via Buyee using the alert option - love that they have this) for 25K JPY. I haven't checked the comments below but the way you set the angle she is jumping at is wrong - sorry! I actually did the SAME thing too when I unboxed her. The solution is somewhat easy - the hole and the rod is not rounded, right? It is a square of sort. So, you have to unpeg and rotate the figure by 90 deg either way and you'll find her leaping straight as it is on the box. Good luck! -kudo_maharizu
Color is a big thing, sometimes color or even a small detail can ruin what could’ve been a nice figure for me, I’ve yet to buy a variant of a figure that was my 2nd preference, if I can’t get my number one choice, I just don’t get it, unless my first choice is selling for a completely ridiculous price that I know I will never ever pay.
Yeah ik what u mean but I really wanted that ryuko bunny so I just had to get and I literally got a job because I wanted the figure but I was to late to get here off of Solaris japan so now I’m getting her off of rightstuf hopefully she comes soon but I’ve also did some bad financial investment probably I’m still new to collecting but I bought the ryuko onsen set so u can only imagine how much that cost😅
I dont think it was really a dumb decision, I get it but I also think it's a painful decision to make. When I like a figure so much that I start trying to find ways to justify it, I know it's something that I'll be really happy with in the long run so I think it's worth it. I think you would have regret it more if you bought the red one instead. Especially if you were already going to buy the re-release, I'd just subtract that from what I spent to make myself feel better haha. 😂 Happy for you!
I'll say it was a bad choice to buy the navy blue one for 50+. Because as long as I can say that, I can avoid spending 60k on the Azure Lane bunny. If I were to say it was a good choice, I'd have to go buy my expensive bunny.
I'm buying a car right now, I can get a SUPER cheap one that will work for my commute....or I can pay nearly double for a cute car I really like. I'm going overseas for a year next year, I should get the cheap one but I probably wont.
I've been meaning to play Steins gate someday, but it still has not happened. I think it is partially because I didn't like Chaos;Gate, since it was 7 chapters of whining protagonist and then 1 exciting action chapter that was worth reading.
I thought you looked like kizuna ai :) Otherwise I feel okay to buy a grail of yours at such a high price if it really means something to you, even if it’s just a specific color version.
