The most iconic gap ever done! Remember watching this when I bought my play station and it came with the tony hawk demo it blew my mind! I have always wondered why Jeremy was not a character in the game!
So a lot of people don't believe Jeremy's comments in this interview since he was under the influence at the time. But this is what he had to say about the game and why he ended up demanding they remove his character ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dQw4w9WgXcQ.htmlsi=zQhlyCO-jp3UvBQx
i would kill to see the whole 30+ minutes of raw footage from start to finish of the whole thing. but this might be the closest we’ll ever get to that. this was incredible to watch. So happy i have a copy of the Thrasher cover hanging in my office. Jeremy’s a legend.
@@JohnDoe-ns8ho yeah of course. Thats skateboarding and not a hollywood stunt scene. Plus they were there illegally...in and out...thats the ideal scenario with this
Tony's 900. Danny way over the great wall of china... bob burnquist loop gap, jaws lyon 25, Jeremy water tower gap. Makes my hair stand up on my arms and neck... incredible... love it
It's so cool how influential this dude and his brother were for me back in the day.. I went to elementary school in LA Harbra, and we would skate the H.S. every day.. Jeremy and Jonas were always cruising around and hanging out with us.. showing support and encouragement.. can't tell you how legendary those interactions were and what a big impact that had on me.. Jeremy and Jonas will always be a piece of my past ..
Cool retrospective on the biggest badass gap ever done. Having the best front 360s ever became an underappreciated part of Mr. Wray’s career. He is the absolute king of front 360s…
When you smash your tail and slam it back into place, that extra bulge helps with a bigger Ollie initially, right after the board gets fkd up. You ever notice that?
Watching this ollie in slow motion, you can see just how late the tail hits on the ollie, it's actually crazy. I've always thought this is the coolest skate trick I've ever seen.
How he manages to tell different stories of this trick years later is insane. Met Jeremy in OC and he filmded me on his GoPro without me even asking him to. Truly an honor
to see that never seen footage before is very special to me. thats the greatest and most death defying skateboard STUNT ever. Thank you so much Storied!! I really wouldnt mind to see the raw footage and every last shot of that Ollie ;) If there would be a 60 minute documentary on it, i would watch it too lol the fact, that no one even dared to try it says a lot about that Ollie. Jeremy wray is a f ckin legend.
Graduated in 97 and grew up in Rowland Heights. Jeremy Wray put his name on this spot. I had a friend that reminded us, "Hey guys, Jeremy Wray ollied that gap." Every time we drove Pathfinder to Fullerton Road. Probably heard that line over 100x.
I remember watching this trick on VHS as a kid when it was released and thinking, how do you even get the courage to try this? Over 20 years later and I still ask the same question.
I'm same generation. Started in 87. If anyone was going to do it, then it was Mr Wray, and although it was utterly insane, and a seminal moment, i thought he could have kick flpped it too. Or heelflip. King of pop.
Thank you guys. I have many many decks hanging on my walls: but this one is my top three favorite ever produced pieces of skateboard history.. super stoked and super proud to have it..
you can tell they prepped for these pro interviews by writing questions for every possible documentary idea they could think of. some of these talking heads are years old-that’s smart filmmaking and i’m inspired.
i remember having his instructional skate trick vid way back when totally forgot about it until seeing this. was so helpful for learning all the basics and beyond. and what a trick here damn, what a legend.
Jeremy Wray is a legend and I am stoked I got to skate in the era he pulled this off. I still remember seeing the cover of Thrasher at the news stand and was in awe. Still got my copy!
Gaps are still my favorite tricks to do on a skateboard, but I would never even think about doing that gap. And that's why I never became a pro. Legendary.
Same reason I didn't become pro. Well, that, and skill. If I would ever think of doing that gap, and I had the skill, then I would have been pro. Well, that and if I would have been from a bigger town. Never mind, I never had any hope of being a pro. I was the best guy at the park a bunch of times, though.
@@Dee-nonamnamrson8718 It was my dream from 3rd grade until 7th grade, when I finally wasn't the best skateboarder my age in my town anymore. I skated A LOT too, but was missing the level of fearlessness others seemed to have. Most of the stuff I was doing involved moderate risk. I was still one one the best flip tricks skaters with the people I grew up with, but when it came to big stair sets, rails, etc., many others were much better than I. I'm not sure how many people know him these days, but when I was in 7th grade I was helping Jon Dickson learn tre flips. A year later he was better than me, and he eventually became pro. I still love to skate, and I'm actually glad I didn't become pro as I love the life I have now that involves less risk than skateboarding. I still love skating, and I'm glad there are so many parks across the US these days! Always a fun time making friends for an hour or two at any park. Shred on!
Jeremy Wray, Cardiel, and Penny are my Legends. Jeremy such a humble shredder in person with Pat Chanita when I meet them at park. 😊👍🙏🏻. Plan B aka H Street, and Flip, sick 90 Teams.
Penny a litte overrated. My step-cousin used to shred with the lords of dogtown. If it werent for Stacy, there'd be no Penny. I think we can both agree on that
@@michaeljames4630 if it weren't forever invented urethane three would be no Lords of Dogtown lol. Every generation stands in the shoulders of giants, you can be a fan of one skater and still recognize what came before
Even watching this now, knowing he lands it, I'm all tense and nervous. Without a doubt the most dangerous gap ever ollied. I hope I never have to watch someone one-up this.
Thrilling experience watching this. Very enjoyable. Especially enjoyed his comment on the absurdity of just jumping it lol😂 It's like his board broke and mystically the tail became a tail feather. It looked like it didn't even touch the edge when he ollied - like it straight up smacked against the air . Crazy hercules type craziness
Watched the Wray Bro's growing up skating. "In the white room, with black curtains near the station." Had an Indiana Jonas board. One of my favorite graphics for sure. Permanent memories. This kind of trick gives me the heebie jeebies.
The thrill he must have felt doing this will never be truly explained. Borderline insanity but legendary. ✊ also the gap Bam did on a moving train, freight to freight was cool
I remember watching the Color video and then 411 feature and all the while I felt like he was the sickest on a skateboard. Honestly when he did this I wasn’t surprised because he had the skills. It’s the level of crazy I was trying to understand. To this day still one of the sickest things to go down. Much respect
Just had to buy that board to hang on my wall! Wray is a monster and would pay any amount of money to get a fresh pair of his old signature shoe in a size 11 ahaha
Crazy balls dude! Blast from the past. My back, knees and ankles hurt from watching this again. And that’s not from falling it’s from popping to landing. My whole body would blow out now. I agree with watching you just jumping back made me cringe more.
Jeremy showed up with the plan b guys to the Santa Rosa skate park ages ago. There are plenty of pros ive seen skate that park. Ive never seen anyone so big and so consistent. Got to watch that huge huge kick flip out of the bowl by the fence in second hand smoke. So many good skaters ive seen but never seen anyone back then that was so huge and consistent.
@@storied_skateboarding hell yeah I am totally going to get one . This image was iconic to me it reminds me of when I was younger Skateboarding all over San Diego. Thanks 🔥🔥💯💯🛹😎👍
If you freeze the frame, you can see the rear wheels are slightly passed the edge when the tail hits the ground at the start of the ollie. Insane, awesome and ducking scary.
