I think I'd like to roll up into the mount at the end.

I like this sweep but I purposely loose the underhook as I'm going back down so that I can go straight into an arm triangle (not always, but if I think it's there I'll risk it)

stephan. this is a "bread and butter" and i understand its usefulness, but would you rather this from doing like a butterfly guard ->open half guard sizzor sweep? thats what i use all the time, moreso than this. the scissor action allows for a higher percentage and greater control IMO. what do you think?

I was talking about the butterfly guard in a WRESTLING match with WRESTLING rules and scoring. In a bjj setting i'm sure you could use seated guard to a great extent but using it in a wrestling match would get you penalized. Plus the objective in wrestling is to pin your opponent, not to submit them, that in itself changes the entire situation.

You dont just get the underhook in. You should have shown more variations and how to get the underhook in.

Yes, but in bjj you don't lose the match if you're on your back, so why would an opponent flatten you out in your guard? next time try to sweep some guy who's lying flat on you. Tell me how it goes.

Complete nonsense. I'm a brown belt, and have repeatedly swept great wrestlers -- including an Olympic alternate and a couple D1 guys -- from butterfly guard. Watch Marcelo Garcia or JJM use butterfly to obliterate great wrestlers, and get back to me on how you can't get butterfly sweep position against them. Typical example, check the youtube vid of Marcelo rolling against Ben Askren, a recent American Olympic wrestler/2x NCAA champ.
