I feel like theres a important difference between long term story telling and a story taking a long time to tell. Long term story telling: Sami and The Bloodline in mid 2022 to early 2023 in WWE and the rise of Hangman in AEW from 2019-2021. Story taking a long time to tell: The Jimmy vs Jey match at WM40. The Jimmy turn happened in August and then they where kept apart for 5ish months where they eventually met a the rumble to reignite, at least in my opinion, a dead cold fued. Same thing with the break up of the Judgement Day, they where teasing them breakingup for a year before it actually happened with no real progress made to further to story during that time. It was just the same promo and backstage segment every week with no progress being made.
Yeah this is something i need when it comes to iyo sky I really want to see her Break away from Damage CTRL go back to her NXT version turn Babyface and Go after the Grand slam but im gonna do my best and Just be patient. Just patience. Because just like he told LA Knight good things come to those that wait.... That wait will Be Worth it🤞🖤.
My only issue with Triple H is how he can fall into some lazy tropes sometimes (every match in a 3 way feud ending in DQ, ppl like Piper Niven and Alba Fire constantly losing matches cause "they are already coming to Scotland and are gonna get a pop regardless", how he has treated ppl like Austin Theory, etc)
@@lwazithesyne4675 I get that yeah, but the thing is those tropes have been around forever, and I feel like now that they’re teasing the Austin theory face turn solo run which is new for him, but I do get that triple h falls in the tropes tho for sure
totally fair aew's storytelling isn't as much your thing right now. For me, I prefer AEW's production flavor more than wwe and I also don't have easy access to watch wwe unlike my fite subscription for aew. ANYWAY I will say, Aew has set its stories back A LOT with a lack of patience but I think the one story they have ab-so-lute-ly nailed so far is Toni Storm x Mariah May. Sheeeeeeesh that story is on fire and it's all because of patience. They started setting it up in December 2023 with introducing Mariah slowly and building her relationship over time with Toni. I feel like it just hit the climax of the story and the payoff at All In is going to be beautiful I think it's the best story they have right now. Genuinely I wish it could be the All in main event but I want Swerve to have his moment too.
@@Elizabethcantsing oh yeah the Toni storm and Mariah may story has been great I can’t lie, especially that recent ending to dynamite to set up their match. The hangman heel story too is pretty interesting to me, they could do great storytelling it’s just yeah like you said they set some stories back with the lack of patience. But all in is gonna be a great ppv still im excited for it, and I don’t knowwwww that man danielson may just get his moment instead 👀👀
@@prograpsYT Agreed! I will say I think choosing to have Danielson win the owen hart tournament was a good lesson in patience. Having Hangman steam a little longer while Danielson might finally get his moment. But part of me also feels like Danielson won't win cause he just doesn't seem to care about belts too much. I think he just wants to dance
@@Elizabethcantsing yeah he seems to not care bout the title at all, but idk them making note constantly of this being his last chance and final full time year makes me think they’re gonna give him 1 run before it ends. Just sucks to end swerves run if he does win so idk, but yeah the Hangman buildup is great
Good video. I would say that maybe it’s not good story telling if I constantly feel like I’m waiting for some kind of pay off. The journey should be just as enjoyable as the destination. That being said, I don’t think HHH, is being slow with the stories. People are just not used to storylines and character development in wrestling.
That’s a fair point, I do agree that people are def not used to storylines and character development in wrestling. Especially with heels and how they’ve been giving real and understandable motivations to be heels like Drew
I cannot for the life of me remember who his opponent was but big show was facing someone and shaq was in the audience. The crowd was chanting for shaq and vince got on the mic and said, i dont give a damn what you people want, not in character at all. So seeing people say he wanted to entertain the audience, you're braindead
