i improved AT LEAST 20% after a few hours with the EDM bootcamp. This is exactly the kinda courses ive been looking for man! I spent thousands at this other school but it wasnt as easily laid out and structured as your course is. I almost bought a plugin for $199 but figured it would be way better to try this course out. Always skeptical about online learning stuff, but what good is a plug-in if you cant even make a damn song LOL!

thanks so much man!! i appreciate your thoughts on the bootcamp it means alot. i also appreciate you giving me the shot to be your teacher.

@cplmcdeath
@cplmcdeath 4 года назад
@@jayR0191 im applying most of what i already know from past courses ive taken from elsewhere. Im also just on the first week of the course, so far and for me personally i have learned TON about song strucutre and that was HUGE for me in making and completing a song. Im using ableton and Alex still explains everything in logic so well its pretty seamless. I dont want to give away his "secrets" haha so i would recomend tryin git out, he does have a money back trial perioid for a few days

The thing that I found he often liked to do was to change the chord progression from the break to a more uplifting progression in the build up and in the drop. He also used a lot of bluesy passing chords to transition between does two progressions which I think really made his sound because it seperates the different parts and makes it sound a lot more musically advanced which made his songs stand out to a lot of other EDM songs which have the same chord progressions through the track

Most important trick I learned from avicii: BUY. YOUR. VSTS.
@MrClarkio
@MrClarkio 4 года назад
Uh check out the video where he's making "dancing in my head" and opinion seems to be he's using a cracked version of sylenth. I agree with you, buy your VSTs. This is someone's job and living. For you it's probably a hobby or passion. However not sure Avicci was the white knight in regard to this matter. Unless I'm misinterpreting your comment Mr flxwers.

I think its ok to pirate IF you just make music for fun and not making cash from it. Vsts can be expensive for students etc

Dear Alex, this content you're providing is actually one of the best I've seen so far! Not only this will help upcoming producers by a large margin, I wish I knew this when I started out 4 years ago! Nowadays I don't have problems with creating chords or top melodies, but I didn't know about this technique so I'll definitely explore it and try to come out with something new! Anyway, thank you for doing this, means a lot! :)

Pro tip: to write a major chord add notes at 0-4-7 and for minor chords add the notes at 0-3-7. Add a bass note the same as your root note an octave down for more of a full sound

To be honest i was very aware of this trick especially the SOS song from tim... He puts all the risers and white noise on the build up... Then strips everything with the chord and melody... Thats why i miss him so much... Taught me so much just by listening to his arrangements... But there were a few tricks here too that made alot of sense.... Thank you!

You could also sidechain the chords to the melody track and use it as a trigger (using a gate or whatever) instead of laboriously recopying the melody's rhythm, also helpful if you then want to change the melody rhythm while experimenting

Thank you for making this video, It really helps me a lot. I wish i knew this earlier but now with this, i can make even cooler chords. Chords are my least favourite thing to work on because they are so difficult to make, it usually takes me days to finalize a simple chord to be honest. Again thank you! Also Avicii was, and still, my biggest inspiration and one of my favourite artists. He is one of the producers who jump started me to make music.
