Smartest programmer ever lived. Look at this shit, it will blow your fucking mind. Check this shit out. Fuck... You... Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you. Look, it fucking sprites... Command line... Fucking. Fuck YEA. - Terry Davis. Rip
Just like a lot of schizophrenics, he felt like the medications dulled his ability to think and problem solve, so he went off them. Eventually led to his death. So sad.
Terry was truly talented. It's sad how he changed nearimg the end of his life and how consumed he got. But no matter what you believe, writing a whole OS and also all the other stuff mentioned in the video is so impressive. May he rest in peace
@@hmwhat9583 n word passes arent single use you fool, it's a license anyways, why do you care? He's dead. Isn't there more pressing things in this world than getting upset over a dead schizophrenic guy having said a few racial slurs?
Not that you would have had time. But the backstory. Terry Davis was a Catholic who developed schizophrenia in the mid to late 90. He made temple os sort of as if it was "god's third temple". As time went on he started to become more and more unstable. With him saying that this was how he communicated with God. Unfortunately it didn't all end well as he slipped into homelessness and stopped taking his medication. On the 11th of August 2018 Terry was believed to have killed himself by standing on a train track near Portland, Oregon.
For me, the most insane operating systems is GEOS and GeckOS for MOS 6502 CPUs. GEOS have own graphical interface, paint program, and ability to compile and debug graphical programs. GeckOS is an UNIX-lile OS also for 6502 CPUs, it is not graphical, but it is multitasking and have some UNIX commands.
Also the craziest part of the whole thing, apparently the entire OS was apparently just a text, Terry was an amazing programer and it would be interesting to see what he could have done if he was more mentally stable
The Temple OS lore is insane. A hand-written kernel, compiler for your own programming language, tons of apps, CD support, 20 3D games, and all that fits on a 1.44MB floppy. And Terry Davis was a genius, naturally, probably also had a genius level IQ. A true gift from God. Search more videos about TempleOS and Terry Davis on RU-vid to learn more about him, you will not be disappointed. And beware of those who glow in the dark, who killed him
There’s a really interesting video in the Down The Rabbit Hole series about TempleOS and Terry Davis. What this video left out was that Terry was actually schizophrenic, which caused him to be paranoid about CIA agents following him. His behavior caused him to become a bit of a laughing stock among programmers, and eventually, the general Internet. Unfortunately, he died in 2018. He was a genius programmer who was misunderstood throughout his life. RIP
Yeah, sure. He was an acomplished programmer, his schizophrenia got the best of him at the end of his days, which is pretty sad given his talent. But in his paranoic state where he just went on his ramblings and getting praised by 4chan type characters while saying shit like "glow [nword]" to refer to survailling feds should make anyone normal person raise an eyebrown when they see someone vehemently singing Terry's praises.
Well this is the applied combo of religion ☯️ + computer 🖥️ science 🧪🧫🔬🔭 👨🔬 TempleOS was great in many ways, but the delusions he had plagued it and that's why it was ridiculed. He end up killing himself somehow, is all in Wikipedia, sad story, he could have been a great influence for programming
Jack... listen... it's okay if you can impress your company and coworkers when you write a solid dataclass in Python and utilize a deque somewhere in the code. It's alright that you are inferior... it will all be okay... 😬😪😔
People love to laud Terry Davis, but the man was demonstrably an awful person, and extremely outspokenly racist. Let us not forget his liberal use of the N word with a hard r... Yeah what a stand up bloke
No, this guy was bipolar with psychotic episodes and eventually died living as a homeless. You normally don't become a narcissistic, its pretty much always there from birth.
