To be fair, we tried keeping it semi realistic and if we reset we wait a little while before doing so. Dive bombing isn't all that fun sometimes so it's not done often, and if it is done it's accidental, like what happened to Neil twice. Old cars lock up when going too fast which is what happened to Gav who destroyed Neils bolide instantly lol.

they kinda are? some of them anyways: they're basically either a fiberglass bubble or an absolute brick with almost no examples in between and in both cases the actual structure of the vehicle is absurdly strong compared to something like a car simply because it needs to be (what varies a ton is the integrity of the parts that are not directly involved in flying and whether or not the shell of the vehicle is a structural component or just a wind barrier). if nothing else works for a frame of reference remember that a large helicopter is built to survive using every bit of an engine with as much horsepower as every car in a decent sized race combined, mechanically speaking they're a flying engine block with a seat and the beefiest rollcage ever attached. all that said yeah it _really_ doesn't look like it crashes right.

@@evernewb2073 I tried looking up some videos of real helicopter crashes; not easy to find anything with fast crashes; but for low-speed crashes looks like in general the main body is tough but does get a little banged up; and the prop blades, skids/landing gear, and the tail, are really fragile.

@@TiagoTiagoT as I said, they're built a heck of a lot tougher than you'd think but those crashes don't look remotely right. I'd believe a 'copter flying just fine after landing on the roof of a car (even an old steel-shell boat of a car like that one) with some dents and paint transfer that aren't getting modeled here but I would NOT believe it surviving dipping down below that tree line and inevitably clipping a branch let alone hitting a car with it's blades, less because of the damage to the blades and more because of the rapidly progressing cascade of problems that follow. ps: the blades are actually _extremely_ durable compared to something from a normal frame of reference (like, say, the roof of a car) they're just hitting things at nearly supersonic speeds with the weight and power of the helicopter leveraged against them after that initial impact so compared to _that_ they look fragile...weird that the tails would look fragile though, they _really_ shouldn't be so I'm wondering what's up with that, probably a cherry picked sample set?

@@evernewb2073 I would imagine the tails are reinforced mostly just in the directions torque is applied, and just enough to hold it's own weight (maybe a little more to account for g-forces in turns, changes of speed , climbs and stuff), and not to hold the weight of the aircraft on it's own, handle hitting hard surfaces at speed etc; economizing on weight is a big deal on aircrafts, specially hovering ones. Make sense the tougher part would be what holds humans inside.

@@TiagoTiagoT went and tried looking some up myself, it looks like there really is one style of helicopter where the tail just straight up falling off is an actual thing...and of course its russian. ^giant heavy rigid-shell body that dumps shock to all the much smaller parts attached to it whenever they land, y'know, stuff like the rotor assembly and a comically tiny and for some godforsaken reason not internally reinforced tail, very first result on youtube was an example of this. weirdly enough out of the first 40 results I only saw a grand total of 2 examples of what the quick check I did on statistics said are normal helicopter crashes, presumably because the normal ones are almost never terribly cinematic (one was a first person from the pilot and the other was one where the pilot managed to make their crash look like something out of an acrobatic routine instead of a crash and come out of it with nothing but missing paint on the skids). the ONLY way you get a helicopter to crash like in a movie is if something takes out the tail or if the pilot screws up horribly, panics, and then proceeds to compound their errors all the way into the ground...or if something messes with the controls creating similar results to compounding pilot error. that's why I found you saying that a lot of tails were falling off in the videos you found to be so suspicious: they're (normally) built to sustain several times their expected stress because it is weight-cheap safety margin in an absolutely critical part and if nothing else they serve as a good vibration sink which is great for both comfort and reducing maintenance of a whole lot of small fiddly bits by way more than you'd expect. you have an ABSURD degree of control over how a helicopter flies even with a dead engine and half your controls disabled the problem is that a lot of that control is pretty counterintuitive and some of what you would intuitively do is the exact wrong thing.

I feel like the tire model is a bigger concern though, it's really simplistic and needs an update. There's no form of degradation at all and popped tires look really janky sometimes.

@@alt666 Yeah, popped tires at lower speeds tend to look ok but the faster you go the more glitchy and warped it gets, it's really bad lol. I hope they update it soon, I'd love to see a tire model to rival other sims like AC in BeamNG someday. Stuff like blistering, graining, and flat spots would be really cool to see.

@@1mariomaniac Man I made a 400+ mph car in automation without editing the files back before the big update with new turbos... I hit 420-430 mph and my entire screen went black. I really thought I killed my GPU going too fast the first time I did it lol. Really do hope they fix that and the carbon fiber looking like plastic that was sanded with dollar store sandpaper. Oh and the automation race tires being so sticky that turning at any speed will flip your car.
