It is strange to seek while guthix sleep, but the story revolves around the stone of jas(jas is a god) , and the strangest thing is that the stone seems to be in the temple of the eye but it is found on the lunar island! Lol

Extremely excited for this quest. As a kid Guthix was my favorite god because I was broke and his god armor was the cheapest. God of balance also sounds super cool, keeping order on our planet. Became kind of attached to Guthix. When he dies in The World Wakes, I literally cried.

The Stone of Jas is by far the most interesting relic in the games lore. It is so powerful that nations would go to war for it, and so dangerous even the most reckless must take heed when using it. The ultimate double edged sword. I was actually thinking of using it as a plot device in a D&D campaign I want to run in the future where the party are needing to travel from one realm to another trying to solve a mystery of sorts. Eventually stumbling into Gielinor, right into a massive crater they will find out was formed when the World Guardian destroyed it. Killing themself and blasting the fragments of the stone across space time.

Armadyl has the SOA wayyyy before Zamorak’s banishment. It was how he became a God in the first place. The dude who found it in the curse of Zaros miniquest confirms this as well as RS3 lore

excited to see where they take the lore and timeline this time around. i kinda like the idea of keeping the player a normal dude who just happens to find himself in situations. in rs3 they made the player some gifted prodigy who is the "chosen one". it was cool for the time but would be nice to see a different approach. looking forward to this quest :)

This is the exact thing I never understood people latching onto. The PC isn't just a normal dude, they are a champion, a hero, a legend. Being in the guilds makes you fairly prominent in the world of adventurers and as a result getting into situations with increasingly higher stakes is just a given. It's not like there was some chosen one prophecy, you just happened to be in the right place at the right time with qualities that were sufficient for guthix to grant you the title. But the reason you were there is because you distinguished yourself within the world.

@@D_3_ Before becoming the world guardian we as the player did all of that on our own merit. Post tww it felt like "because world guardian" was used to handwave a lot of thing just because it made for easier storytelling. Also being the chosen one in a mmo is a trope that never really works since there are thousands of other chosen ones running around and usually it means our actual power varies wildly between cutscenes/plot events and normal gameplay while the player loses what personal agency they had to take part in events since they no longer can say no due to the story world now in part revolving around them. The phrase might be massively overused but it's ludonarrative dissonance. Really excited to see when they go with this iteration though. Given the modifications and implementation of story elements found in the Morytania/Elves and most presently Mahjarrat storylines in the "inspired by rs3" quests I have great hopes for this one.

Bruh, our character in osrs literally has prophetic visions in the past of the Stone Of Jas, and inherently knows the name of the artifact due to visions of the past, we def do not just play some "normal dude" lol. Maybe we aren't the center of the entire rs universe, but this comment just requires you to blatantly ignore the lore that happens in so many quests to believe this.

Tbf the derpyness was mostly headcanon by the community rather than actual lore. The Edicts stuff is almost 20 years old lore (it was first mentioned in Darkness of Hallowwale in 2006), so he was considered this super powerful being that could destroy the world even back then

I mean he was most influental god in original lore and in osrs lore there just wasn't enough quests to show it yet. Osrs lore in this video technically changed only one part which is that he banished all the gods which is probably true for the main four (i think Armadyl technically left by himself) but lesser gods like Menaphite pantheon wasn't banished (except for elidinis) and other lesser gods like V in fremenik just left because Guthix asked them and they were like "seems legit" and left.

This is actually a beautiful explanation. I never knew that Seren was banished by Guthix and that makes a ton of sense why the Fragment felt like it had been abandoned and that it wasn't enough. The last part of Seren couldn't understand why her best friend banished and betrayed her.

Guthix was my favorite until i found out what he did with Seren, i mean, all Seren did was follow him, she went to the world because of him, brought the elfs to the land because of him, didn't even participate in the war and even so she was forced to "shatter herself" (which we know what it means) all because Guthix wouldn't allow her to stay even if she was quite literally a neutral party, so yeah, Guthix was a bit of a douche there.

That was basically his whole angle. He didn't want people to worship him, Saradomin and Zamorak did. The end result is that Saradomin and Zamorak are in most of Gielinor considered the two strongest gods, while Guthix is more of a footnote reserved for weird druids.

Guthix personally banished the other gods from Gielinor. Some of them left willingly, others did not. It's said that his fight against Bandos lasted over a year. Seren could have fought against Guthix, but due to her nature and their friendship she decided to shatter herself instead. Zaros was in the shadow realm and simply waiting for the opportunity to come back.
