I use to teach high school in Pulaski, TN, and it was one of the best experiences of my teaching career, The students, whom were majority white, were some of the most respectable kids I have ever encountered. I'm from Milwaukee Wisconsin as well. My mother moved us to Belleville Illinois back in 1985. Milwaukee has an extremely high crime rate! When we moved to Belleville Illinois was a time in my life I experienced a high level of racism. If we walked out of our home to go to the store ( to play the arcades) the police would drive slowly behind us to try to scare us. They would park in the cemetery across from our house and watch our house and stop blacks who were driving through Belleville. Here is my thought: White Americans, why sell your homes to Afro Americans if you don't want us in your neighborhood? We were not ghetto. My mother had a good job and was buying our home not renting! She chose that city because of the better education for us. In Milwaukee I went to Hampton Elementary school and Green Bay Elementary. In a while class myself and maybe two others were the only blacks. Same thing when we moved to Belleville. Only time I was accepted was when they needed my 6 foot 3 butt to help in sports.

Working in a public school system in southern Virginia I hear the N _ _ _ er word used quite often. And probably 95% or more of the time it comes from the black students. Speaking as a Bostonian of course not a black man this comes up all the time 😊 but according to friends of mine both black. They think often times it's never mentioned it because it seems to go by neighborhood. In Boston is very neighborhood territorial. And they also seem to include not in on Boston but near Boston communities like Cambridge Somerville. So I think it just gets chopped up by neighborhood more. If unfamiliar, I'm referring to a number of verses, but specifically Acts 10:35-36 spells it out very clearly: Act 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: Act 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. Vidor (long I) has a long legacy of racism. I remember playing a high school football game in Vidor and how a bunch of guys in pick-up trucks driving next to our bus screaming all kind of racial slurs. Our coaches thought it would be cool to have our post game meal there too, which resulted in these same losers circling the restaurant's parking lot until the State patrol arrived. That was 30+ years ago and I have no intention of ever driving though or stopping there.

Santee California nicknamed “Clantee” is working on not being so racist. When I went to HS here from 1997-2000 we had 2 black kids, 4 Asian kids and a handful of Mexican kids (I was one of them) even in 1998 people were so upset that the ONE black girl was dating a white guy. She was always so sweet. But the school didn’t care. The news even said that my high school, Santana (yes, the one the that got shot up in 2001) had 95% white kids and less than 5% other…. OTHER! Not even a full 5%. I got cans thrown at me by kids and adults riding on the back of lifted trucks yelling at me to, “go home!” I had just moved there from a very diverse San Diego town and was confused because “I was going home.” I didn’t know what they meant until a year later. I also got hit by a car that “didn’t see me.” Then he told me to go back to “Whateverstan.” Again… I’m Mexican. Then after 9/11 happened, our poor Arab neighbors had their house vandalized daily. They had to move. Imagine being bullied out of your own home that your kid hard to get because of a place you were from. Nothing else. Let’s not talk about the neighboring town… Lakeside California ugh… Santee is a tiny bit better now, but the Racists are bolder now, and don’t care to get in your face.

I had the misfortune of living for two years in Jacksonville, Florida, when my company closed down the former main office in New Jersey and paid for me to relocate there. There were only 4 people in my department, and I was the only Jewish person. The black maintenance person had to paint over the racist and antisemitic graffiti, including swastikas, on a weekly basis in the bathroom that my department used. Furthermore, I had to drive past billboards going to work that were tagged with huge swastikas. I hated living there. Right after I moved, the mayor (who was actually quite a reasonable person) decided that black college students didn't have anywhere to go for Spring Break, so he thought it would be a great idea to turn Jacksonville into a 'destination' vacation spot for black universities. Cool idea, except that the students discovered when they got there, that the police and residents were not quite as welcoming as the mayor, and they spoke up about how terribly they were treated. BTW, there is racism EVERYWHERE. When I was a high school student, I attended a summer science symposium at Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland Ohio. I expected (and mostly met) some really smart students there from all over the country. Unfortunately, I also met this one white kid who bragged that when he got home, he would prove to his father that he wasn't afraid to shoot 'n*****s'. I CERTAINLY did not want him to ever find out I was Jewish. Obviously, I kept my distance. Also, while growing up in suburban New York, I witnessed a race riot IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. I had no idea just how racist my neighbors were, until one family decided to move out and rumor had it that he was selling his house to a black family (note that most people probably never realized that we already had a black family living there -- I only knew because I was part of the literary magazine at my high school, and they guy was a talented dancer and poet and actually was the editor of the literary magazine. Anyway, one of my good old neighbors threw a brick through a window of the family's house, and either the same or different person vandalized their car by slashing the tires. My family has always been very liberal, and my dad (who actually had been honored by a church in Harlem for representing them in a case) decided to go out and confront the people who were rioting and tried to calm them down. I was watching the whole thing through my bedroom window, afraid for what might happen. Soon, they did quiet down and everyone went home. But I never saw our neighbors again in the same way.

There is 'racism' everywhere in the US. I just can't understand why a person's beliefs, skin color, religion or background matters. This has always been difficult to understand.
@hannable70
@hannable70 Год назад
I agree that the color of a person's skin is an idiotic thing to obsess over. I used to work at an amusement park during the summers while I was in college. Unfortunately, much to my chagrin, I was assigned to run the "kiddie" rides. Talk about boring. However, what I used to see multiple times a day was several children getting into physical fights over who got to ride in the blue airplane - or who got to ride in the red car. Only children obsess over color like that - and apparently there are some people who simply haven't grown up. However, I CAN understand why someone's religion can matter - because the concept of God and this obsession to "please" him can cause a lot of strife. Especially if these crazy religious beliefs manage to get a foothold in America's halls of power. That's when you start hearing outright lies about how Christianity is enshrined in the Constitution - or that our laws and government are based on Judeo-Christian principles (they are not - Judeo-Christian principles are inherently fascist - show me any Bible verse that talks about the virtue of democracy and I'll eat that Bible - every single page. In fact, our country is based on Greco-Roman principles). There are plenty of Dominionists who have tried to get themselves elected - people who actually believe that the Bible, not the Constitution, should be the law of the land. If you have actually read the Bible, you do NOT want that nasty book being the basis of our morality, our legal system, or anything else. As for someone else's "beliefs" - depends on what they are. That is far too generic and broad of a word to really comment on. Same with background. Things like what country they're from or what high school they went to shouldn't matter. But uh ... it might matter if their background includes a criminal record. I don't want to hire a convicted thief to count my business's money. Ya know? Just common sense, not prejudice.

I’m from Columbia Tennessee, which is about 10 minutes from Pulaski actually. I’ve never even known it to be racist. I’ve lived here all my life and I’m 58 years old. . I do have a story though and it’s not about Pulaski. Well I guess it kinda is. In 2007 I went to Sturgis in South Dakota to the bike rally. While I was up there, a friend of mine‘s father owned a motel/hotel, and we had rooms there. There was a bar about I guess 200 yards from where I was staying and I’m not a drinker and I was shooting a game of pool there and I was the only one there the friend of mine that went with me did not have a motorcycle and he was with his girlfriend, so it was just me riding my motorcycle everywhere by myself. Anyway, at this small bar, there was probably 40 people there maybe and I was talking to one of the waitresses there because I was staying just up the road and I had gotten to know her a little bit.. if you’ve ever been to Sturges in South Dakota, there’s not that many people of color there at least I didn’t see but 2 the whole time I was there, that’s why I say that. Anyway, there was one in the bar. He had two other guys with him that were white and they come over and started talking to the waitress as I was talking to her and they got smart with me said that they were police officers from Chicago Illinois they were threatening to whoop my ass, and all kinds of stuff just bullying and the black guy ran his mouth and he was pretty much the worst one there out of the three and I said look I ain’t here to cause any trouble, but apparently you didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to my motorcycle, parked next to the door as you walk in And they said so what we’re on motorcycles too I said yeah but the tag on my motorcycle is “Pulaski Tennessee” The black guy looked at me and I was staring at him when I said it and the white guy said who gives a shit? I said again apparently you didn’t hear what I said! and the black guy took his hands and placed on the white guy that said who gives a shit. He said let’s go let’s go let’s get out of here. He said let’s go now. Lol it was actually kind of funny. Needless to say I didn’t see or hear from any of them anymore The whole time I was there and I hated to do that but they were the ones being the bullies.. I know some of you are gonna say that’s bullshit and it didn’t happen but it’s the truth no bullshit. The thing is my tag only had Tennessee written on it. Maury County was at the bottom, but you could not see it for the frame around my tag, you can only see the state. The white guy was asking him as they were walking out. What’s the big deal about Pulaski Tennessee and you kept saying just shut up let’s go.

Many of those criminals come up to Milwaukee from Chicago's crime ridden South Side. Milwaukee is a town willing to "pay a fair day's wage for a fair day's labor". That includes ANYONE, Black or White. The problem is: The "Black Community" fosters criminals and murderers...not skilled labor or professionals. Milwaukee Blacks live in their cess pool ghetto because they don't earn enough to move up in the world. Milwaukee's "Black Community" is the source of their problem...NOT "White Racism".

Growing up and living in the south, I experienced the time of desegregation. There were few issues I experienced during this time. Mr. Jones was our new principle who was black. Mr. Jones was a very competent principle. He treated us all equally harsh when we got out of hand. I developed a great deal of respect for him and contribute his leadership in making my high school years one of the best periods of my life. I am in my 60s now and am well educated and traveled. I can say with a good deal of certainty that in the south today the extreme racist are few, and on the fringe of society. Unfortunately, I think this makes them more dangerous. On the other hand, much of the north is still segregated. Some may disagree, but it is the reality.

I was active in the community, social and had great friends of all walks of life. The facts of crime in Anchorage are not racist. Any location can be labeled racist if your looking for racism while ignoring facts of crime stats. I strongly disagree with labeling Anchorage racist. In fact, I genuinely can say, it was the best city I’ve ever lived in and if not for the cold and isolation, I’d likely still be there.
