Porche made an exclusivity deal with EA with this game and it ended in 2016, thats why there weren't Porches in any other game of those eras

Watching this video with a smile on my face :) many versions of NFS might come out with high end graphics and fancy bells and whistles, but there is something special about this game that no other game can replace. Such a great tribute video! Glad you had the soundtracks playing throughout to add to the nostalgia! Travelled back in time! ❤

Speaking on the console and PC version being different. Nfs high stakes PS1 is a lot different than the PC version, but each have their own quirks that make them fun

Yeah, I haven't played high stakes on ps1 also. So im assuming its the same things as unleashed :)

I always liked Porsches but I wouldn't say I was ever a fan. This game changed my outlook on them hugely. In particular, the 968. I used to think it looked dull, but after upgrading and winning many races with it in this game, I now have a level of fondness to this mid-engined sports car and what they were trying to achieve.

Same as you I learned a lot about Porsche from this game
@joshklaver47

Do you mean the 986 Boxster? The 968 is a front engine car, like the 924 and 944.

Thanks for the video! Funny, I was thinking about this game recently and how much I loved it. I'll be putting that Windows 10 patch to use.

Huh never thought about it like that, like those games were like car RPG's where you build up your character, the car you like best and turn it into a beast, no wonder the other forza's after 2 felt so hollow, I used to always have favorites I chose in every game for racing with high oversteer and good power, because you could always use that drift as a weapon and then they just made everything feel so pointless when they cheapened out the driving physics and made everything feel the same, while dumping piles and piles of cars onto everything, and making it so the only way to make it feel fast was to make everything 4 wheel drive anything else was slower, and the sense of speed was worse, and you just couldnt drift or drive better to win anymore, it was always about who had the 4 wheel drive, not what worked best for them as they all worked the same, let alone how much skill they showed with it as they turned it from a driving simulation game, into a car collecting one with really cheap AI and Racing, hell maybe that's the problem for both games, both forza and NFS need to go back to the egg and start small again, and build from a new framework based on the old as you figure in that time period, what was big, RPGS, and with time and the way cars were made and improved, it kinda followed the same flow hence why the framework works so well, actual cars were like that, the earlier ones were bad, and the latter ones were better, so why not build it up as time went on to keep up with the gradual shifts being the era where you bump up the difficulty of the game also underground 2 seems to been heavily based on that design philisophy with its cars, like if you wanted to mark off the last real time NFS felt like NFS, it was that most wanted kinda traded that in on boss battles, and building up to them, and eventually it just lost its way with how much spectacle they threw at the screen, rather than focusing on what made it good and then you had EA turning it into shoveware given how good its reputation was back then, while they left the smaller groups alone to make things like Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and the Dead Space Series which all eventually got ruined by the same thing, rushed development by management who dont even play their own games as I remember with NFS 2, that game was a bust and failed, had tons and tons of issues, and people complained, their used to be like billions of form posts about it, and then they took all the notes, listened and made the game great resulting in its really first big reboot with need for speed 3 hot pursuit, with easy modding, great police chases, and excelent music which kinda just goes to show, in this industry, you have to keep it grass roots and say to hell with the wokeness, DEI and the money grubbing nature of it all, and just keep the games fun and if someone complains well, just throw them out, as they werent going to buy it anyways

Wow man, your going to my "wall of longest comment" :). But yeah, I could not say better. The games that come out right now, ar ruined by big companies (Not all of them, but majority). Blizzard, EA, UBISOFT, there was a time when these logo meant Quality.

I played before I got into realistic-ish racing games with a higher skill ceiling like Colin McRae Rally, DiRt 2 and Art of Rally but I have to say that, as a kid just happy to run the latest NFS title on my PC, I was stoked. It was the best on PC and I like to think that I passed the infamous opening skill test on Driver (PS1) because of how good I became as a factory driver. I also think that the Driver franchise crashed and burned awfully. It could have and maybe should have become it's own online sister franchise to GTA where it would merge with GTA online and become half driving game and half vehicular shooting with up to 24 players and 8 simultaneous robberies.
