Man i wish this game came out a few years later actually, with the spike in popularity that souls-likes got after elden ring and the recent trend towards the low-poly aesthetic, I think if this was released today it'd get a substantial larger following behind it

I agree! Hopefully they've considered doing a sequel because I'd love to see this style with all the quality-of-life improvements that other soulslike games have implemented.

It still has it's challenges here and there, but I agree that overall it's a lot more forgiving!

Ah thank god someone else supporting this game! I've just released a video myself on Ashen and why I consider it the first true souls-like. You're dead right about the game as a successor to DS, it feels like a true successor rather than just a retread of the original concept like so many souls-likes end up being.

Trying to get multiplayer to work is harder than the game Very small storage space Enemies will spawn on top of you sometimes immediately after killing them Bosses are easier than the mobs Game looks nice World building is done well The way the town developed as I progressed through the character quest was cool Mermaid is hot

I think this game falls apart quite a ways in, but very worth playing up to that point, even at full price.

I do agree, around the halfway-point the story becomes a bit disjointed, almost like it was rushed in a way? Still fun and aesthetic for the most part, especially for an indie title. However the flaws do show, specifically in the Children of Sissna difficulty mode (I believe that's the right name?).
