This ride is by many regarded as the most beautiful climb in the world. Despite its beauty, it was Italy’s best-kept secret until Giro d’Italia rode it for the first time in 2019. Colle del Nivolet’s altitude of 2612 meters / 8570 feet makes it one of the highest mountain passes in Europe. It is a climb that is difficult to get to, and with no other climbs around, it is really only the really dedicated cycling enthusiasts that get here. But those that make it is in for a treat. This ride takes the longer approach from Locana. From here you ride through the beautiful valley ‘Valle dell'Orco’ to Ceresole Reale. You ride through four tunnels, where the last is the longest. The last tunnel is bypassing an old road in terrible condition (Update: In 2019 they have reconditioned the old road for the Giro d’Italia). As you leave the last tunnel, you reach Ceresole Reale and enter a magical fairy-tale land with glaciers, marmots, and mountain lakes. The ride from here to the top is probably the most beautiful climb in the world. Ceresole Reale itself is a beautiful town mostly made of stones. The road from here takes you up through jaw-dropping and eye-popping scenery to two dams and up to the top. On your way, you will see glaciers and mountain lakes. If you look carefully, you will even see marmots playing along the road. This is a true bucket list climb. One of the best there is. In our ride-along video, you ride at the speed of a pro rider. If you want to ride at your own speed, please look below for more information on our indoor cycling app Open Road.
You can learn more about the ride on the following sites:

Just add music:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is outstanding. But with music, opinions are very mixed. So we have added no music. Instead, we recommend adding your favorite music to the ride. It is quite simple. Mute RU-vid and open a browser window. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, RU-vid, etc…) and pick the music you like, and enjoy the ride... We have left the original sound of the ride out. This is because the noise from passing cars, vibrations from the road, wind, and the rider's breathing drowns the natural sound of the surroundings.
Terms of use:

We completed it last year but stayed at Noasca after cycling over from Turin airport the day before. I'd suggest staying at Noasca if you didn't want to tackle the full 40k ride in one go.

So far so good. 4 years later, is it still the most beautiful climb in the world?

Thanks Rick :-) Without a doubt, it is a top contender for the most beautiful climb in the world.

Love it! A great complement to my trainerday workouts. One suggestion - could you create playlists by country to organize your growing collection of great videos? Great job!

Yes, certainly one of the most scenic climbs. Even better in June or July (this looks like October).

Yes, it is amazing isn't it :-) Filmed earlier than October, but that year there was a drought, so not as green and lush as normally...

Quick peek: was this shot from a bicycle? Love you guys!

No. The shaking and the way how cars overtake and this vehicle overtakes cyclists are typical for a car. And they use the long tunnel, which is a must for cars and not recommended for cyclists. Cyclist would use the old scenic road bypassing the tunnel.
@BiketheWorld
@BiketheWorld Год назад
Yeah unfortunately we were misinformed and thought the road bypassing the tunnel would be in very bad state. Only later we learned that the old road had been renovated for the Giro d'Italia. Next time we will film the road bypassing the tunnel.

@@BiketheWorld The old road ist closed for cars. You need to do it by bike and can circumvent the barriers.
