So sad that during the biggest loser heyday so many people thought they were the coaches you needed (me included) I spent so many years thinking I was doing things wrong. Bob was the nice guy, jillion Michael’s was the hard in your face coach. I wish I found Mark Wildmans channel which lead me to yours and others. I look forward to moving that kettlebell and watching these videos shows me why I failed before. I’m 52 now and hope younger people find great coaches and not the flashy ones that TV builds up.

One comment, that final shot where this guy is "shaking" hands with Bob Harper(who, imo, should be banned from ever making another workout video and his ass sued off to the point he lives in poverty but that is another topic). Let us consider perhaps this guy really thought Bob was "training" him properly and really does not know any better? This is frustrating to watch. Not only is the spine at risk, knees are hyperextended…and the subject is not able to control the bells thru ANY phase of the movement. Not his fault…he has not been taught nor, I suspect, has he developed any sense of his body in relation to itself or the space thru which it is moving. This is probably the result of NO physical training experience of ANY kind coupled with poor coaching. I agred this yahoo making this video should be held accountable.

Fitness suppose to be functional not dysfunctional, teaching good posture before lifting anything is the first foundation to a successful workout. Deadlift, kettlebells swings, clean and jerk, etc. are movement you are going to use in one moment of your life like for example lifting a freaking sofa. I'm not a coach but I'm being doing those movement with one for quite some time and this is painful to watch.

@lebe-stark
@lebe-stark 3 года назад
Great points! The jefferson curl or even rounded back good morning may be placed well in a solid strength training program. This however is different. The coach calls this exercise a deadlift and does not know how to ensure proper form for his client. - Gregory

There is a notion that a military boot camp style attitude is beneficial in helping people get motivated. The thing is that despite rare occurrences, military boot camp is not unsafe. The exercises are planned out, coordinated, and implemented. There is purpose. This video of Bob Harper doesn't accomplish this in any way. Also, most people do not benefit from a trainer forcing them to keep going. The only time I ever saw worse form, was during a visit to a Crossfit box. At that facility, the "trainer" had beginners doing high rep power cleans, and push presses. He was so busy focusing on, and trying to get into the pants of a Crossfit chick, at the gym, that he wasn't watching as complete new comers to lifting were pulling barbells that were too heavy, up to their waists, and then rolling them upward, while leaning back, to get to the rack position. It was insane. Fitness does sometimes involve injury, with the best of form, but starting people out with terrible form, almost guarantees that they will not be in it for the long haul/Fitness for life.

there's a saying in strength training that goes "stimulation, not annihilation". you want to reach a few reps before you are so tired your form breaks down. but try not to actually reach that point. as one guy that was interviewed on this channel said, it only takes one bad swing with a heavy kettlebell to make it so you can never exercise again.
@rinkuhero
@rinkuhero 3 года назад
(you seem to be just doing light weights so far, where bad form won't permanently injure you. but it's just a bad habit to have because what will happen as you get stronger? though you might also not even ever get stronger because if you are reaching true exhaustion you causing damage to the muscles faster than they can repair themselves)
