@@SimonNissen94 Because it was colonized by Europeans?! Just like US, people came from a lot of different places. Brazil even have the biggest Japanese colony outside Japan and there are more Lebanese decedents in Brazil than Lebanon's population (just a few example to show you how diverse it is).

I'm also Dutch. I posted something describing how Dutch music is terrible for a reason most people won't actually mention. Yes, we have good DJs. Yes, we can sing very well. In ENGLISH. Every single one of our songs in Dutch is terrible, and I know Dutch people don't like it, and neither do foreigners. That being said, our food is alright, but not fantastic like the dishes you'll find in France or Italy.

I'd put Spanish, Portuguese and Greek food all ahead of French food but that's just me. Also I agree, Dutch food being placed as low as British food is a bit too far

@@adr77510 It's probably because French cuisine is so diverse. There is something great to be had all across the spectrum and it's all very refined, cooked and presented with finesse. Dutch dishes may not be up to par and feel incomplete but I would say individual products and light snacks are of top quality. I also don't mind our mash of carrots, endives with bacon strips, gravy etc. Those are hearty. But it's what I grew up with. It's just not refined and we tend to 'underseason' our food, which is quite ironic given our colonial history. I see where you're coming from, listing all the mediterranean countries. But again I just think French cuisine is being seen as the pinnacle of good food for its wide variety. I've lived in Portugal for some time and it seems to be very focused on pastries/fish dishes which makes sense. In Italy for example it seems to be based around dough, tomatoes, etc. That's not to say they don't have great dishes that aren't focused on those ingredients. I just think France's cuisine has more depth to it. Even though I agree that in Europe Italian cuisine is the best. To me anyways. But that's personal preference.

Spaniards are the friendliest people I've been around in Europe. My friend started puking on a train from Madrid to Bilbao and at least eight people in the train car helped clean it and gave him tissues etc. I have never seen that hospitality anywhere else
