The escalator is on the right side in Osaka and neighboring prefectures, but on the left side in Tokyo. It's a strange custom in Japan, but about 80% of Japanese people line up on the left side of the escalator. Some people say that East Japan with Tokyo is on the left and West Japan with Osaka is on the right, but that's not true. However, only in Osaka, the iron rule is that the escalator is always on the right side. If you don't line up on the right side, you'll get scolded lol And in the metropolitan area including Tokyo, the left side is the iron rule. Kyoto Station has a strange phenomenon where the standing positions on the left and right are mixed. Jack is good at using chopsticks. Salt-grilled fish has a salty flavor on the skin side, so eating the skin and white meat together is delicious.
Thank you for the interesting information about the customs and practices surrounding escalator usage in Japan. It's interesting to see how different regions have their own specific rules and customs, even within the same country. I'll have to remember to line up on the left side if I'm in Tokyo, and on the right side if I'm in Osaka. As for the salt-grilled fish, I'll have to try eating the skin and white meat together to get the full flavor. Thanks for the suggestion!
From a professional filmmaker, Jack your skills are amazing for a young youtuber. Great shots, editing and music. It took Paddy Doyle six year to get where he is now. I predict great things for you mate. Great video!

I'm not really into malls anymore, but i do love the color aesthetics of that mall. I really love the reds. And the red ferris wheel looks amazing... And i'm sure that fish was really yummy. 😋
Nice to meet you. Good evening. Arisa and Papa really enjoyed your videos. As a Japanese, Papa was very happy. Thank you very much. See you! Have a good year!

1:45 fun fact: people in Osaka and other Kansai areas they stand on the right side on the escalator but pretty much everywhere else including Tokyo, we stand on the left. It's weird even to us Japanese haha
Thank you for the fun fact, KennyK! It's always interesting to learn about the cultural differences and unique customs in different regions. I'm glad you shared this information with us. Do you have any other fun facts about Japan that you'd like to share?
@@JackTorr Can’t think of anything good but the Otooshi that you ate before the fish is usually to be subsumed with alcohol, that’s why it was the first thing they served at the restaurant. Often times many restaurants give you Otooshi without asking customers cause it’s just so common so don’t get mad if you get charged a few hundred yen for the Otooshi. Hope that helps for your next journey in Japan:)
I’m too lazy I just want to eat it don’t need to catch it. And seems such a waste to have fishes cooked when it’s that fresh. And that veggie is called “hajikami” it’s type of ginger you eat to cleanse your pallet.
12:26 This is called "はじかみ生姜" (hajikami-shoga, one of ginger)". It is usually served with fish, and only the white part is eaten as a final touch (お口直し). I think even Japanese people have different tastes for this (I don't like this...).
Thank you for the information! I wasn't familiar with "はじかみ生姜" before, so it's interesting to learn about a new type of ginger and how it's used in Japanese cuisine. It's great that there is such a variety of flavors and ingredients in different cultures, and it's okay to have different preferences. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me.
