I wonder how many tourists accidentally eat the bait thinking it's an appetizer Edit: For those who missed it and are commenting that there is no bait - 0:38
I never knew such places existed. It has so many different cooking methods and type of fish that you could go 5 times and not have the same thing twice. Really enjoyed the experience. Thanks for that.
I was truly admiring the unique methods used for such a small selection! Everything they chose had me drooling! I couldn't believe the freshness of that food. I never have raw sushi from fear of getting parasites, but something about the way it was prepared looked so delicious. And the way the seafood was grilled, prepared raw, and the bouncy freshness of it... ugh I could go on. I hate myself for having a disability because I can never get to experience dining out and enjoying life like other people do 😒
honestly i think this makes you appreciate your meal and the animal more. In my opinion i believe its more personal and an experience to learn from and be thankful for what youre able to eat/the animals sacrifice
Honestly I don't think I can eat here I personally can't handle killing the animal because I'd relate too much with the animal and feel really sad for it
Just as you people are wondering, the fish she caught at 15:20 is called squirefish, porgy or scup in America, snapper in australasia, and red seabream in Japan
Not exactly correct. The fish shown is tai, or red seabream. The other names are different fish. Scup or porgy is Stenotomus chrysops, the Australasian snapper or silver seabream is Pagrus auratu, and seabream, also called red seabream or by its Japanese name tai, is Pagrus major. They are different fish in different regions but in the same family, Sparidae.
We have a few catch and cook restaurants in Michigan, but we goes out on the great lakes on a boat to catch perch, walleye, trout, whitefish and Salmon.. Fresh fish tastes so yummy.
@@asahjamesperisee Spring Valley Trout Farm in Dexter ... $ 5.00 for admission for fishing gear, bait and picnic grounds . Bring own charcoal, picnic supplies and ice cooler for taking them home. $9.00 per pound for Rainbow Trout and almost $ 8.00 per pound for Channel Catfish that they will clean and deboned for .40 cents, 30 cents for additional fish ... You can cook onsite or take it home .. No need of a fishing license. Fishing boat charters can be expensive.
I'll pay good money to eat out at this restaurant with my crew and family. It may be tad bit expensive; however, the amount of hospitality, the atmosphere it presents to guests no matter where they're from, and the experience to literally pick out your own seafood and prepared in many different ways... it's truly amazing.
It's definitely a lot cheaper now if you're converting from USD to yen. Yen used to be about a penny each but now they're like 70% of a penny so your money would go a lot farther than it would 4 years ago.
youre paying alot for a gimmick and honestly, it isn't actually 'fresh' fish. they're swimming in their own waste in a small artifical pond. you're paying MORE than if you just went to a fish market, for second rate fish. notice how empty the restaurant is? when fish are kept in unnatural conditions it DOES effect the meat and Japanese people know better, this was built for clueless landlocked tourists.
@@ryantuttle7551 yea cause everone drunk having fun in america people would be fighting and throwing stuff in the water. we cant have stuff like this here it wouldnt make it 2 weeks
Thanks for going 2x and showing us different menu items plus prices each time and the way they can be done all in the same video. It is most helpful for us to not only see what is available but educational which all your videos tend to be while showing what may or maynot taste good. Koodos for the places you go to which also allow video recording and explaining the menus too.
Rule placard in English, and someone who can explain things in English. They are definitely prepared for tourists. And I recognized the olive flounder from Animal Crossing.
@@spindude3456 It has nothing to with how poor or rich you are here in the States. It's simply a difference of cultural mannerisms between Japan and the States. People here are just simply not respectful enough to allow these type of creative interactive ideas. Too many assholes who barely have any manners will make a mockery of a place like this.
Yeah, imagine you’re living in an unnatural pool, without any plants or hiding spots, then you’ll being pierced hurtfully with a sharp thing, then someone grabs you out of your living space, kills you and rips you apart just for someone‘s entertainment and food. Great, really.
That shark in the tank is so huge 😮!! That look like lot of fun to try but I feel bad for them fishies. Some how fishing 🎣 in the wild seem to be fair chance of meal vs survival for then in the pond like that 😅
I’m sure the olive flounder hand rolls tasted so good, I love when you can tell Ms Dancing Bacons is enjoying the food when she brings her hand up and nods it makes me so happy ❤
I took my son to this restaurant a few weeks ago. He got a spiny lobster and I went for the flounder that flounde sashimi was the best I've ever had since it was so fresh. I tried his lobster too just to make sure they did a good job cooking it. This place is legit.
ngl I feel bad for the sharks... swimming around in 2 feet of water barely 10m long... at least the prawns/clams/etc wouldn't notice it but for the sharks that would be like torture...
It's crazy to see the price of things as they are shipped across the world. I'm from Maine where lobster are caught, in the summer fishing season was as low as $3.99 a pound, so about $6 a lobster. Off season gets up to $10-12 a pound. Now living in the Midwest at Red Lobster it's about $25-30 a lobster I believe. To see it halfway around the world at $45 is crazy, but it did alot of traveling. Even so, no way in hell is a lobster worth the $45 price tag
I’m surprised, I figured Japan would be the most!! Lobster travels to the opposite side of the world to reach Japan, but Germany is only 1/4 of the world away from the source (6 time zones). You guys are getting ripped off in Germany! I would guess it’d be because of trade routes but crossing the sea from Maine to the UK is 5 time zones and it’s already almost to Germany from that point, that’s quite strange to me!
I stumbled on this channel because of the fun vending machine videos, and now its my favorite channel. The vibe of all the videos is also really calming.
Man, my dad would probably love this restaurant! My dad, and his dad, both love seafood; one time, they and two friends went to an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet here in America, and they literally decided to take advantage of the "all-you-can-eat" slogan, and stayed there so long, the manager had to request them to leave.
Circle of life just out in public for entertainment purpose, interesting. Japan has so many unique places to eat & visit. I truly hope to get to visit Japan someday when my health improves. It's so beautiful & full of history & culture. I've got Manchurian & Mongolian in me from 23andme, wish it was Japanese too 😂🤷♀️🩷😊
I've said it before, but I just love and am so thankful for your videos. I love that you include how much each item cost. It's very insightful for those thinking of traveling. I also really appreciate your honesty.if you like it... You say it. If don't, you admit it.... It's so refreshing to see honesty instead of brand pushing. Lastly, Lady Bacon is so cute! 🫰🏽
Not a fan of that either. I also doubt quite mucho grande they have one of those oxygen wells at one point in the ponds for the shark to enjoy himself and reload.
i already feel bad for the fish, the sharks being in there feels like abuse :( plus, what will they do if someone tries to fish up a shark? espically with the piercing hook
I used to live in Japan and you guys take me back every time I see your videos. I live in Mississippi in the US now I miss y’all! This restaurant looks amazing and I am honestly going to plan a trip next time I go to eat here. One thing about this video… I did not see enough of the beautiful face of the beautiful lady whom I always like looking at beautifully. I missed her in this video sampling the food more. Also, amazing camera work as always! Thank you folks for these videos.
This is such a neat restaurant. I like the overall concept. Wish they had something like this over in the U.S. I'd have to go for flounder too. Great tasting fish.
That's why I like Red Lobster. Point at a lobster, "That one has spoken against The King, Boil Him Alive!" And bring his body to me! Then laugh uncontrollably
Love your videos and this restaurant idea seems like a lot of fun to eat fresh seafood. I'm glad that the tanks look clean, fairly large enough, and not cramped with fish. Also, fyi Lobsters that sit in tanks can eat themselves/waste away from the inside out over time. That is why at shops you should always weigh your lobster to be sure. Don't be fooled by the shell size, you should always weigh them to get the best deal.
Another channel I watch called, "The Crane Couple" came here as well. It's a really neat idea, they enjoyed it as well. She lucked out with her catch. If it was smaller you can't get it cooked 2 ways. So awesome job & thank you for the vid! Be safe & take care! ❤
I love flounders and other flatfishes, my grandfather fished alot and then smoked most of the fish and it's so good😋 if you ever have the chance to try smoked fish (especially flounder)do it ,you won't regret it. Smoked salmon with potatoes and a roe sauce is just😙👌
Here in the United States we have the ability to actually go fishing ourselves in the outdoors there or go buy fish at a store or restaurant there isn't any need for something like this place where the fish are already caught and placed into a tank for customers to torture , the way these people catch those fish is what's known as Snagging or Snag fishing it's illegal to do in the US because Snagging is extremely painful for the fish and for ones that escape the hook are severely wounded and die a slow painful death. That kind of restaurant wouldn't be allowed here.
you weird racist termites always come out of the woodwork on interesting videos about japan, if you want to make america less diverse you should start with yourself, go find some traffic to lay down in.
I’ve been here when I went to Japan! We got several fish cooked different ways and our favorite was SASHIMI! Soooo fresh They served the sashimi with the fish skeleton and it was still moving! Don’t worry it was just the nerves, fish was dead.
Im highly allergic to so many things, I’m not visiting Japan and other lovely places, cause the chances of dying are way too high, but I LOVE to see you guys eating everything! ❤ At the same time it makes me so sad to never be able to try all the food 😔and never knowing how things taste or even being able to imagine it 😢
I'm not allergic but because of radation therapy my taste buds can't do spicy at all any more so when they go to all the places I'd love to eat at prior to cancer I can not have any more so I live vicariously through their videos too. But this place I think I could eat at for sure.
My cousin has severe food allergies but he managed to safely navigate an international trip to Israel and Jordan relying on allergy cards that I prepared for him (i speak fluent Hebrew and have basic Arabic skills but tons of Arab friends who helped me with translating).
In the 1970s when I was a kid, my dad and uncle would go Abalone diving. I never developed a taste for the things- but I still have some of the shells from all those years ago.
Thanks for sharing this! I was a bit surprised whenever I saw they fried the flounder whole. But I guess that’s just a regional difference in the world!
Oh my god, the nostalgia hit me like a TRUCK!!! My uncle took me and my family to this fishing restaurant when I was quite young, and it was sooooo much fun! (A little too much fun that I fished a quite a bit, woops) But the food was absolutely delicious and I would so want to go there again!!
Honestly I just think its cruel having the fish in a prison like that waiting to die, it must be terrifying for them seeing others get hooked and disappear knowing they will be next one day
For being in Japan, I'm pleasantly surprised the server is speaking English fairly well. Makes me want to go even more, without worrying about the language barrier.
This place seems so fun! I don't know if I could do it though, if only because there are some fish in the ponds I have never tried and won't know if I'll like and be able to eat. But the fact they can prepare it in different ways is wonderful.
I imagine this kind of place is geared toward richer tourists than locals. And though I am sure it'd be a fun, unique experience and delicious, it's lethally priced!
@@roombussr5676 Maybe they could take your catch from the ocean and prepare it for you? Of course, greedy corporate owners don’t care about ethics, they are pigs.
@@roombussr5676You’re right. I should think with my head, and know that profits should always be prioritized over whats ethical and morally right. Genius!
I enjoy the idea of catching your own food. However, this is not that. It is basically like catching a fish in a barrel. The water is so clear you can pick them out. The fish have nowhere to hide and no way to fight. It just isn't fair, and makes me sad. Catching fish straight from natural bodies of water is different. A unique experience certainly, but not one that I like.
Wish I had a restaurant like that. Could you catch and eat the sharks too; they looked pretty big. Be interesting if you did catch one. Wonder how it be served. Also the lobster tail flippers and legs has meat in them. You can also eat the gray stuff (tomalley) and if there’s red to the roe. An there’s another chunk of meat up behind the eyes; it’s the muscle they use to control their antennas.
I was sitting here thinking that they could have dropped the legs and shell of the lobster in the hot pot for extra flavor lol. A cooking show taught me how to take a small wooden dowel and roll the meat out of the lobster legs. Its surprising how much is in there. The last time I bought live lobster it was expensive so we used every part and made bisque from the shells lol. 😅
@@Emeraldwitch30 This is true. I come from a place were its famous for its seafood, including lobster. An I have never seen prices this high ever; both on the wharf and market. Hard to believe at one point it was consider a garbage by-catch an usually tossed away or used as fertilizer.
Shark has quite a bit of ammonia in the skin and flesh, iirc. While it CAN be eaten, it doesn't taste very good. There's a Japanese fisherman who catches, prepares and cooks shark on RU-vid and he had to do a lot of prepwork just to make it edible.
Places where you can fish your own food is just so nice. Went to a place like this but it was in a pond xD The food looks so yummy! Also, I adore Shander's bright smile xD
