It's startling- hat's why they recommend a water bottle pop on the hand or shake one filled with dry beans to train a dog, instead of hitting them. Of course mine will sit there blissfully chewing & crinkling the empty bottle for an hour, without a care in the world.

I heard them 15 years ago and NO ONE knew what I was talking about. It sounded like the train screeching on its brakes but when I’d run to look at the tracks THERE WAS NEVER A TRAIN 😭

An unclassified document released in 2006 revealed that they developed a wireless technology that allows them to remotely manipulate and distorrt electronics in home, urban settings and rural setting to cause electromagnetically induced auditove distortions. hella late but i have had severe panic attacks following a more mundane health symptom (specifically migraines) that led to doctors of all stripes struggling to diagnose my issue, the ER in particular writing me off as hysterical. it took years for me to understand that those incidents were simply me having my first migraines, not understanding what they were, and then panicking and spiraling afterward. my panic was understandable, i think, because the incidents occurred while driving at night. imagine having your vision turn into fractals while behind the wheel!

In all fairness, people judging past events are also likely missing information. If scientists a hundred years from now saw this case, they might easily be able to say “oh yeah it was seismic activity” despite not knowing anything about the seismic activity in this time period. It’s easy to draw easy conclusions when scenarios are “dumbed down” with missing information.

There are some rather believable modern cases of mass hysteria, but I've always been really off-put when people jump to that conclusion. it often seems like a total cop-out instead of doing any actual research or just admitting we don't know yet; It's not a bad thing to admit.

In the case of Coca Cola, it could have been a bad batch, or any error from the company. To simply tag it as a mass delusion seems lazy at best.

'It’s kinda crazy how doctors and scientists can look back on history and say, “Oh, this was most definitely mass hysteria in the middle ages!”' No they can't. They don't have any information. They're just dismissing something because they can't explain it. It's a copout. The proper approach is simply to say we know so little so why make declarations about what something is.

it's not about technology not being good enough to say what Havana Syndrome is, it's about the details surrounding the cases are probably obfuscated, by design. any kind of hypothetical covert operation like this is going to try its best to leave behind no evidence, and obfuscate investigation attempts. the idea of a microwave weapon used in this way lends itself out to leaving behind limited evidence. so even great scientists using "modern technology" can be mislead or otherwise left with very limited evidence to analyze. a scientist investigating a natural phenomenon does not have to contend with the type of obfuscation and misdirection found in covert operations. the other thing to know is - there is probably a very active investigation going on that will remain classified for some time. we don't know everything that is or isn't known about these cases. we are just going off of publicly available information, and some of it will no doubt be propaganda by various international actors to obfuscate and misdirect the public's perception of the cases. the obvious hypothesis that comes to mind, that i'm sure investigators are aware of, is a vehicle pulling up near the attack locations, and directing the microwave antenna towards their target. microwaves penetrate glass pretty easily, so they wouldn't even have to take the weapon out of the vehicle. just direct it through a car window.

Dude I had the same issue since I was a child! The only person who finally took me seriously was an audiologist who also specialized in neurologic issues. There might be something going on with your vestibular system or the nerves that connect your ears to your brain.

Literally just had the exact same experience!!! For the past few years I've been having pretty much the exact same symptoms, but not as severe. Happens every night for up to a week, then goes away completely for a few months, then comes back suddenly. So spooked, haven't gone to a doctor for it yet...

@@SophieHanleyx might be cluster headaches. I guess maybe not if they aren't severe, but clusters come usually the same time every year, for a period of time, and then without warning leave again. Usually happens at exactly the same times every day. The pain is usually behind an eye, on one side of the face. Look it up and see if it fits what's happening to you

I'll elaborate on my symptoms a bit: If I wake up during the night (during the few days I'm getting these "attacks") I'll feel an immense pressure in my head, like it's being pushed into my pillow, or into the base of my neck. I'll also hear this whistling that gets quieter and louder in a clear, non-erratic pattern. It's not in time with my breathing or heart beat, I'm not sure what causes the steady wave-like volume change. I'll also have vertigo, feel like the whole room is spinning. All of these symptoms go away very quickly, usually within 15 seconds if I was to sit up, or switch to my opposite side. And I'll feel fine, if a bit shaken up. I'll usually have vivid dreams where I feel these symptoms ten-fold (and the dream incorporated these feelings) right before walking up. So they could be what's actually waking me up in the first place... Idk.

Do you have hearing loss? If yes, ask about Meniere's Disease. If not, you can actually experience symptoms like this with Anxiety. DO NOT TAKE THIS AS A MENTAL HEALTH ATTACK. I have Anxiety, PTSD, Disassociation, Depression, and ADD. Meniere's and a Brain Injury on top of physical disabilities. Whenever my Meniere's is not acting up, I know for a fact it's my mental illness. You have to learn to understand what to look for in terms of symptoms. Tinnitus happens to lots of people. Going to a concert, being around loud music or machinery or a gun... anything like that can make it act up and stay on. You can get migraines (the pressure in the head feeling) and vertigo easily, too. Mental health can trigger these symptoms in a person and worsen everything. So I am not saying it is mental health but just know that you can actually cause them too especially if you have high anxiety. My husband can make himself cold sweat, vomit, turn white, etc. just due to his anxiety.

I'd like to know who else was around that reported whatever it was that happened. A dog seeing the human in some kind of stress or fugue would probably stress the dog too, which could be interpreted any which way and TBH I wouldn't trust a first-person account on this.

Well, to me, it sounds like they're experiencing Meniere's Disease. Which is what I have on top of genetic hearing loss. Hearing aids can't replace the sound I lost at birth. Tinnitus comes and it can cause pain and throbbing, so I can use fans or music or sound machines and ear plugs and ear drops to help but technically it's all in my head quite literally since the sound is due to the hearing loss and my brain being confused. The vertigo is annoying, but I've been to physical therapy specialists to learn how to deal with it. I have coping techniques and grounding techniques plus motion sickness pills I take and I sleep at a 45 degree angle which lessens how much it happens and got myself prism in my glasses and am taking meds for my mental health (due to ADD, Disassociation, and PTSD also contributing to the dizziness). The feeling of fullness and pressure in the head can be attributed to my migraines and brain injury from a previous fall, so I ensure I lay down and rest and use ice packs and weighted neck braces and my topirimate and sumatriptan. Usually their issues with walking is because of the vertigo. If the meds and coping techniques don't help, there's a medical procedure called canalith repositioning procedures that I learned from the ER and my physical therapist for emergencies when everything else fails. My worst attack lasted 2 weeks and I had to go to the ER to have that done several time to get my brain to stop being dizzy. The brain fog and confusion usually is because of the symptoms being new for a person. For me, vertigo comes on due to my many mental health and physical health disabilities, so the fog and confusion is especially bad. Ensuring I am keeping my brain active with games, writing, reading, and giving my brain something to do can really help me erase the fog. I also use a calendar and write down everything and set tons of alarms due to the brain fog. This is basically what you have to learn as you live with these issues. It's been 33 years since I was born and this has just been a normal part of my life.

And, also, Ocelot was a good guy pretending to be a bad guy, pretending to be a good guy who thought he was a bad guy. Confusing? Yep. An awesome way to reevaluate all of Ocelot's appearances throughout MGS history? Definitely. Plus, the last fist fight that both Liquid Ocelot and Old Snake have on top of the Metal Gear Rex, is amazing. And so is the revelation that Big Boss and Major Zero were both still alive the whole time, and that this entire series started because of the 2 of them being unable to come to terms of how The Boss really wanted the world to treat it's soldiers. But Big Boss tells Snake this, all while finally apologizing for everything that's happened, and realizing that both him and Zero were both wrong, and unplugs Zero's life support machine, and injects himself with the Foxdie virus, killing himself and Zero in front of The Boss's grave, and telling Snake to live out the remaining time he has left, not as a soldier, or snake, but as a man, before dying in front of him, and telling Snake that the Foxalive is overwriting the Foxdie in his system, so he won't become a walking biological weapon after all. So that's how the MGS series ends. It's confusing, long, but it's great, and it's fun.

Multiple convenient coincidences usually point a pattern. In this case, it seems highly likely there is some sort of intelligent targeting of these people. If this were mental illness or hysteria, it'd be some of the largest coincidences I've ever heard of.

I believe it could be, since you need to have a high level of stress and mental anxiety, plus believe that you yourself are part of the group of people targeted/relate in some capacity to the situation/conditions other sufferers were in, when they were affected, like the one that happened in Belgium in 1999 only affected specifically coca-cola drinkers, and the one in tanganyika that only affected children.

That all sounds kinda plausible and but also a bit obvious TBH. I can't imagine how they put it into practice inside a building without lots of big equipment. I'm not an audio technician but I've worked with them, I know how difficult it can be to get interference patterns right in an auditorium. I'm guessing it's a combination of sleep deprivation and stress-induced brain hum (not uncommon, I used to have that along with a sleep disorder called ASP - that's the 'alien abductions' - and I know others who have it and it feels extremely real), Baader-Meinhof phenomenon plus underlying background sub-clinical medical conditions in individual cases and you have a big story. I don't think they're making it up, but I also don't believe in some high-wattage sonic or microwave wizardry surreptitiously installed in hotel rooms or following CIA agents around in the open.

@@dittikke Very true, it's probably rather impractical. However, where the theory diverges from common-use case is that if you're using a specific wavelength, the measurements are much easier. It's very easy to do with the double-slit experiment and light. But then you have issues of intervening walls and such which throws off the calculations. The reason I'm thinking sonic and not some other medical condition is because of the physical damage reported in some cases. According to the vid, it seemed to resemble explosive damage. If it was somehow medical, maybe some sort of really nasty spasming?

The medical conditions: The signs of concussion could easily be preexisting, especially in someone who's served in the military. IDK I have a problem with some kind of sound waves causing brain damage as suggested here. Assuming this is possible, the margins between not having any effect at all and pervasive brain trauma leaving the victim with the same kind of damage as a massive stroke would be too narrow, and yet they seem to be able to hit the sweet spot on a moving and unpredictable target in an unpredictable environment. If the frequency worked on the bone (the skull) instead of the brain, then yes I could imagine it causing discomfort and distress but then there wouldn't be actual brain damage, and the wattage required would still have to be high with all the skin, fat, air and possibly also masonry that would have to carry the sound to the bone tissue. Not saying it's impossible but it all sounds too far-fetched to be a realistic explanation.

@@dittikke There does exist sonic-weapon tech, but it currently serves as a less-lethal crowd control capacity. I think the damage that would do would just be limited to causing deafness at close range. And the arrays required to handle it are truck mounted which would make doing something like in this video very hard to do stealthily assuming the equipment was mounted similarly. So, yeah, given what we know of tech, rather unlikely, but theoretically possible.
