I wouldn’t say he’s 100% the second strongest stand, but he’s definitely the strongest _base_ stand. By which I mean, WoU is the strongest stand without any external factors that modify his power and abilities. No requiems, no love trains, no over heavens, just a ludicrously strong stand.

The concept of Wonder Of U is actually quite interesting because it embodies a quality that a number of villains seem to possess: That fate favors them and opposes the heroes. Consider how Yoshikage Kira seemed to have incredibly good fortune, or Dio Brando for that matter. Just when it seemed like they might lose before the final act, fate hands them the advantage. Meanwhile the heroes have to regularly fight against bad luck throwing obstacles in their way. Wonder Of U is that concept made manifest, an agent of fate and destiny conspiring against anyone or anything seeking to hinder the villain and unleashing all the obstacles that fate can assemble in the path of the hero. Wonder of U takes a seeming passive ability that villains in Jojo seemed to possess, kicks it up to 11, and turns it into a freakin' superpower. It's like if all of the luck that Diavolo didn't have was instead stored away for later use by this stand. And let's be honest, Diavolo was the absolute unluckiest villain to ever exist in all of Jojo.

The thing about power scaling of Wonder of U, and how people compares it with other stands, is that people ALWAYS assumes the situation is perfect for the other stand. Every time, when people say "what about XXX they can beat Wonder of U". And the answer is, NO. Every time people say things about Sheer Heart Attack or Weather report or Ma Yo Yo can beat it, everyone assumes that the user just suddenly knew everything about Wonder of U and how it works, instantly wanting to fight and kill it, and then teleported right in front of it and killed it with one blow. No, it most likely wouldn't. It's simple for a lot of stands to beat Wonder of U in a assumed situation with no context, where everything is perfect for the stand, but it's not. To beat Wonder of U You need to: know the existence of this stand + be curious about it+ find imformations about it and research about its mystery + knowing its true form and ability + wanting to kill it + finding its location + go to that location + fight it. With deadly calamity following you every step of the way, wanting to kill you unrelentingly. That's why Wonder of U is so stupidly strong and overpowered, any other stand, no matter how strong they are, need to be confronted directly in a battle or at least have the user activate it to show its power, but Wonder of U doesn't, it starts to attack you no matter where you are, the moment you start knowing about ITS EXISTENCE. You most likely won't able to know that calamity falls onto you upon presuiting, without being struck by calamity. Which could kill you in the first place. You don't have a perfect situation where you suddenly know everything about the stand, instantly teleported in front of it and start a face to face battle. No, you need to gradually investigate and know its ability to even start thinking about fighting it, and it can already kill you during this process. Maybe even Valentine will step out of the light barrier in this process and got beaten by calamity. That's why Wonder of U is second.

I think what makes WoU so terrifying is that you NEED to have multiple people in order to stand a chance against it. It feels impossible to win against something like this in 1v1.

Maybe with timestopping stands, the calamities would build up and hit you all at once after time begins to move again?

I feel like everyone underestimates Vanilla ice. He’s definitely up there for strongest in the verse. Dude and his stand literally can’t be hurt 90% of the time, can’t be seen 90% of the time, and completely destroy anything it comes in contact with it, plus he himself is also a vampire like Dio, giving him a physical edge on top of everything else. His only weakness is that he can’t see without making himself vulnerable, so he just has to guess where the enemy is.

What's scarier than WoU itself is the implications behind it. Stands are a reflection of the soul, so its user must have fucking graveyards in his closet to have a stand this broken....

One thing about automatic stands is that, while damage doesn't transfer to the user, effects do. For example, Echoes Act 3 increasing the weight of Sheer Heart Attack did affect Kira's hand that SHA was launched from despite not taking any physical damage from Star Platinum & Echoes punches. By this logic I would assume Tusk Act 4 and the Infinite Rotation would affect Wonder of U and pull the user to where their stand was hit.

7:11 Quick Correction: Pucci and MIH aren't traveling at light speed. It's actually a lot more complicated than that. It's as if all living things are put in a stasis for how they age, and that stasis becomes more and more extreme, leading to them becoming slower and their perspectives on the speed of other objects being changed, which leads to all nonliving objects moving/progressing faster and faster. Pucci also seems to not age, or starve at all, so the power is also obviously affecting him.

In favor of Pucci and Made in Heaven: I would say that infinite speed should also allow for infinitely fast reaction time, and as we were shown that it is possible to avoid the calamities (like Josuke using bubbles to protect himself from the car), MIH should be able to dodge anything coming its way at least long enough to reach the head doctor and hit him

Now we know that there are two more weaknesses: when what you’re attacking wonder of U with is so infinitely small it doesn’t ‘exist’ and when you’re with the user you damage them without the intent of harming/pursuing them.

Umm... so, personally... this is the first time this has happened, so I'm a bit surprised. Only a centimeter away... I mean, I don't think there's ever been someone who's gotten that close to me... without a, you know... calamity occurring. I'm not really... not really sure what happens at one centimeter away... 'cause it's my first time. I don't really understand it either. Seriously. But in the flow of calamity... there's nobody who can attack me. Not a single person. That, I know for sure. Wonder of U.

I'd say that a stand that could take Wonder of U would be Notorious B.I.G., as it's inherent immortality would make it able to withstand any calamity sent it's way.

I get the feeling that wonder of u's power is at least partially based on the roko's basilisk thought experiment. Since both of them center around the idea of the target being aware of them, and the only way to truly be safe is to just not know of their existence

The "U" in Wonder of U comes from Prince's songs like "Nothing Compares to U", "U Got the Look" and most importantly "I Wonder U".

About that last part, if multiple people are thinking of Wonder of U around the world, it would probably focus on the person “most recent or active in pursuing Wonder of U,” meaning as long as someone just recently pursued WoU or is actively attempting to pursue then you are considered safe until the person ahead of you gets axed. I don’t believe thinking itself would also cause a problem since that would lead to anyone involved with the running of TG University, the Head Doctor, and/or the university hospital to be a target, which probably would cause problems for Toru. I theorize you have to have a particular intent regarding “Pursuit” if you are someone after him with some ill intent, you get targeted. Still, if you are a hospital employee passing on paperwork or informing them of an appointment, you don’t get targeted. Additionally, if you can figure out their schedule, you can subvert the pursuit and wait for them at a certain point, effectively getting rid of a trigger. The idea is that WoU is both an automatic stand and a stand the user can transfer their consciousness. If the latter is true, if the stand is damaged, then the user would also theoretically be damaged as a recoil. Still, I could be completely wrong about the whole thing.

Imagine Made in Heaven and Pucci are fighting Wonder of U, they trip on a tiny pebble, and all of a sudden their whole body is immediately ripped to shreds and ceases to exist.

Hey Ya vs Wonder of U Hey Ya just tells the user to not proceed the stand. The user does so, and thne it just works out. Done. Hey Ya wins.

The time manipulating stands get destroyed because they have a certain range to their ability and to get in wonder of u's range you need to pursue it. The only battle wonder of u has trouble with is d4c love train. Ger also gets destroyed since calamity has no soul so there is no action to revert to zero.

Wonder of U doesn't just cause accidents, it rewrites causality to make SURE you get maimed. Coupled with its own proclivity to vanish and appear wherever the hell it wants, the fact that it has its own agenda that runs with Tooru's own plans, it's easily one of the most terrifying stands in the series, edging out Heaven's Door by just a smidgen.

You know how Johnny from Steel Ball Run had his head randomly crushed by a falling rock at the start of Jojolion? And how no other Jojo main protag had gone out like that before, so suddenly? And how Wonder of U's MO *completely matches how Johnny went out* ? And how Tooru *is a rock human and is way older then he seems* ? Plus for comedy Johnny literally died because of a rock. Like just a rock. And for the record, you don't even have to be close to Tooru or his stand to die. You simply have to pursue him in some way. So if you're halfway around the world, decide to pursue him and take a single step? Dead.

Actually the lyrics of wonder of you as a song really fit with tooru and the stand, Elvis sings about someone always being there for him, and that perfectly fits both characters

It’s actually also been confirmed now that Tooru is affected by any damage Wonder of U takes. So Tooru would probably get bodied by Tusk Act 4

Personally what I find more terrifying is that this Stand can just, seemingly at will, morph into a physical human being that everyone can see and interact with. And possibly stay active for YEARS at a time. Like, even if you do somehow beat the "pursuit" rule, all it has to do is turn into its 89 year old form and call for help. And people will just see you randomly trying to kill an innocent old man. It could potentially just slink into somebody else's life without them EVER knowing if the doctor they are entrusting is a Stand or not. And if you just ask it the wrong question, fate just kills you.

So the only things to take Tooru out would be either a complete accident, extradimensional energy, or a ton of suicidal heroes...

Looking back at this, it's kind of crazy that to take out WoU, it took an attack *from outside of reality*, it was literally unstoppable and only sheer luck saved the good guys in the end. In that way, Part 8 mirrors Part 4. Both main villains had fate on their side for a long time, and the only thing that could stop them was their luck running out.

And then Jotaro pulls out his "So it's the same type of stand as Star Platinum" card

There are multiple weaknesses though: Bohemian Rhapsody, Heavy Weather, Cheap Trick, Super Fly, Killer Queen's pursuing bomb, Death 13 and Ebony Devil all can overpower the stand by not pursuing the target, being indestructible without repercussions or able to activate when Wonder of U doesn't work. Most of them are trap stands requiring the stand user to make a mistake but some of these stands (Cheap Trick and Ebony Devil for instance) can deliberately be triggered even when pursuing. So yes, it is a very powerful stand able to win against most stands but all stands have exploitable weaknesses - it just depends on the context and whom they are facing.

is it just me, or is this kind of a theme with some rock human stands? i am a rock: random objects hitting you suddenly doobie wah: automatic, infinite range, not automatically activated on pursuit but activated in story because of pursuit blue hawaii: automatic, infinite range, "attraction", same relation to pursuit as above brain storm: seems automatic at first, anyway. makes holes. ozon baby: automatic, long range, kills can look like "accidents" doctor wu: small objects hard to find a link with vitamin c, but i guess theyre generally more passive on the user's part so that the rock human can, well, be a rock.

This stand is the most terrifying stand in JoJo because the FBI cannot pursue him.

The only ability that might beat it would be a stand that could either reflects, influences (somehow), or cancels out the activation of Wonder of U or the events happening to whoever has said stand. Or for the theme of fate to alter the truth before you in some manner ( If we're making this, I'd make it not tooo overpowered by giving it a range, but overtime that range can increase.)

What happens if you use ger and set time back to zero does it cancel or does wonder of u just forget about you

I have feeling the way it’d countered is tied to Josukes plundering ability. He is been seen to be able to plunder things that are atmospheric or not actually tangible. As such he might be able to plunder the flow of calamity, he just doesn’t know it yet. This would explain the “good luck” rai was talking about after he get close to wonder of u. Because he shouldn’t have been able to get that close without the ability activating, thus something clearly happened. I think the bubbles floating around in the room caught the flow of calamity and plundered it causing it not to go off. Then going into the spin discussion, I think Josuke will use the spin to respin the flow of calamity, to potentially benefit him or the stand, perhaps making a bubble imbued with the infinite rotation, allowing him to never actually be affected by calamity. Just my thoughts on CH.100

GER vs WoU. When an Immovable Object meets an Unstoppable force. GER could Return to Zero all the damage, but would nullifying damage count as a pursuit?

Gold experience requiem is the only stand that beats it other than the McQueen suicide stand or some type of remote control voodoo type stand or summoning (is it still pursuit if you summon the user?) perhaps Hey Ya has a chance too. Also remember that any distance you get to it can be extended by it's user simply running away from you.
