I agree. I had to make an alt account to test my stalling strats because I was tired of my rating falling into the dumpster. It is much more difficult, in my experience, than using hyper-offense.

True ppl think stalling is easy but when I tried it for the first time I got rekt while stalling u need to know what type of move ur opponent is gonna use whereas sweeping is a lot easier coz u literally need to predict just 1 switch/non-att move

Stall is really interesting to play. It's about resource management more than anything else. There's some element of prediction and mindgames involved, but a lot of it comes down to "do I rest now and lose a turn of stall, or am I healthy enough to do it next turn?" There's also the element of knowing when to cut your losses and put your staller in your back pocket; if you bring out a Machamp I'm putting Blissey away immediately. I understand why people hate playing against it, but Pokemon like Curse Quagsire and Stored Power Sigilyph have always been my favorite to play because they can be so unexpectedly good at stalling out turns.

i agree. i personally love the defensive playstyle & i understand that a lot of people don´t like it as it is a slower strategy. the funny thing in my view is that contrary to how salty it makes people it is a weaker strategy compared to things like sweepers (or thats at least the impression that i have seeing peolpe that are way better than me in pokemon). i mean just look what simple moves like taunt & trick can do to a tanky mon. but even with all of this the sight of a mon that just won´t ever go down especially against extremly strong mons like legendaries fills my heart with joy.

3 months late but, in addition to your suggestions, a phaser would be handy too. Dont like the mon setting up on you, phase it out and render the buffs reset. But, i find many players play showdown like its the main games, ie, dmg moves only.

Force switching moves like Whirlwind work as well

I use a chandelier named Elliot His moves are will-o-wisp, flamethrower, clear smog, and hex, and his ability infiltrator bypasses substitute, light screen, and reflect so he’s really good at stoping build ups

Yes, stall and balanced teams with 2 or more modes require more set up and skill to play, and will typically have something to mess with opposing strats unlike legendary spammers and braindead sweepers.

I just started a day ago and I've just been using monotype teams and some confusing team comps in national dex ag. Pretty fun tbh, especially when people don't understand why their psychic move won't work on croagunk. Granted I do lose a lot of matches
