I cannot believe that the police still tell people they have to wait a certain amount of time before reporting somebody is missing. The first 48 hours are absolutely the most important.
@@YourPalKindred Time and time again when we watch videos about people being abducted or kidnapped the first 24 or 48 hours are literally the most important, the victim may still be alive or they are deceased noone knows until they are found. If someone reports a missing person it should be taken seriously and have people looking for them immediately. There's videos and documentaries of people who had been abducted and within the first hour of them being reported missing they had been found and the abductor arrested and sentenced, of course not all situations are this successful I do understand that.
It’s actually fake , all 50 states you can report a second after it happened and the police will put out a whole search party. Most people don’t even call because they believe that myth to which that explains why people say “the police said wait 24 hrs”
It's because 98% of persons reported as missing turn up unharmed within the first 24-48 hrs. All you narc's think that the Fed's should just drop everything and go running after every reported "missing" person. PYFHO
One of the things that really stood out to me in this case was that Lori’s family removed “Hacking” from her headstone because they “just felt that Mark obviously didn’t want her anymore.” While they replaced it with _filhinha_ (Portuguese for “little daughter”), that quote literally broke my heart. This could’ve all been prevented with a divorce. He is a selfish, evil creature.
Doesn't seem like it could've been prevented. Sounded like she wanted to leave him, so He instantly killed her. Sounds like it was going to happen no matter what.
To cult members in that belief system, murder is less unholy than divorce it seems. There are many murders that happen for the same reason in that system, sadly. Honestly, I believe that "religion" make everyone under it a victim. God knows
@drivingbritt9617 OK but that's the thing -- he wasn't even a loser! He had a perfectly respectable job at a hospital. He didn't play video games all day unemployed like Halderson. Makes it so much more of a waste that he decided to construct all these lies to cover up a perfectly fine reality just because he wasn't a ✨️doctor✨️
Every-time a murder takes place and the victim has a spouse, I just pray that perhaps THIS case the spouse doesn’t kill them, but every time I’m proven wrong. Great video!
I almost fell off my chair upon hearing a minimum of 6 years. Even with the new Lori law of 15 years it's still too lenient. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
He could had just leave..But I guess he was too much of a whip. In prison he with have all his needs taken care of. He won't have to work.Or cook his own food. And because his family love him ,he will have money in his book. And be able to buy goodies. Its a fact. Sad fact.
you and me both. I did a really loud 'WHAT THE FUCK" after hearing that. I can't believe Utah had a law that ridiculous. I'm glad it's changed now but 2035 is still too soon for him to come up for parole.
I went to school with Mark and his sister. His dad was also my pediatrician for 15 years. Idk what happened to Mark, because he had the best parents, always there for there kids, and very involved. One guy I talked to said he was assigned to guard Mark and he felt pure evil emanating from him. Mark was a chronic liar and his lies came crashing down on top of him. Rather than ask for help, he thought he’d cover it up with more lies and death. I was pregnant with my 2nd child when this happened and it sickened me that someone would kill their wife and unborn child and throw them away like trash. Just absolutely devastating for so many people.
@@Kelly-pp1etit’s not always the parents fault either tho. Good or bad, some kids are influenced by life experiences that are out of the parents/child’s control. Sometimes it’s the friends they choose, or social media these days. It goes both ways, you can’t assume it’s the parents fault or that it’s not. Some ppl are raised by good parents in general and turn out to be s h i t ppl…or ppl raised by s h i t parents in general that turn out great. Ppl that assume every bad person was raised to be bad or every good person was raised to be good are unrealistic. We don’t always do what we’re taught, sometimes we choose to do the opposite.

EWU needs a Netflix deal. The time and effort they put in to come up with amazing content is something I really admire. The narrator just has a voice that’s perfect for this type of content, he could explain the process of paint drying and he would make it sound interesting 😂 thanks EWU love what you guys do 😃👍🏻
Not Netflix but like a True crime network that you can pay for every month, there's one I use the best I've ever had and they would fit absolutely PERFECTLY there. I forgot what it's called but it's from the UK I believe if I'm right, Starts with a G I think lol I haven't watched it in a month or 2 so forgive me for being forgetful but EWU crew and Murder with my Husband and a couple of others would be perfect as heckin heck for that true crime subscription 🤤😍🥰🥀⚰️💀✨💙💙💙🗡️🤗
As a teen, I dated a deeply twisted and deceptive guy back in the 80’s. Drove him to and from work. During a bad snow storm I called to see if they would close early so I could make arrangements to pick him up, and they had NO idea who he was! Turns out he had a girlfriend on the side who would pick him up after I dropped him off, and who is now his wife. I paid for everything in the relationship (as apparently I was the only one working), which was fine, yet he told his mother that I was taking all of HIS money so he couldn’t pay rent. She hated me and I never knew why. I found all this out after the fact. Now it all makes sense. Psychopathic liar. Take care everyone!
@@ericlarousse1149 Remember that these are mental disorders that people have no choice having - it's usually a result of trauma or some other life event. This certainly NEVER excuses people who commit acts like murder or abuse but it's worth remembering not to paint all people with those conditions with the same brush as they did not ask to have the condition and many of them want to live normal lives.
How foolish could YOU be to date someone like that? You must have really been desperate, or he was really hot and your were sprung, considering that not only were you blind to everything he was doing, YOU PAID FOR EVERYTHING IN THE RELATIONSHIP?
This was one of the scariest true crime documentaries I've ever seen. Simply because that guy and my ex-husband are so scarily similar. They did so many of the same things. Like leaving to go to school every day, except they were never going to school. That is so freaking specific. And there were so many other things like that. Made the hair on my arms raise and gave me that prickly chills feeling up and down my spine. I am really lucky to be alive. God bless her family, friends and supporters.
Even if I have heard a particular story a few times, I will still come to EWU to hear it again. The quality, insight on interrogations, and amount of information is unmatched.❤
I remember this so well. It effected everyone. Many things happen at memory grove.Prayers to the family. Now we need to find Susan Powell. Prayers to her family also.
This case reminds me of Chandler Halderson. He killed his parents after his dad started to question his supposed schooling and job at NASA. It's so horrific to see monsters go to these lengths to cover up their dirty lies.
Marks dad was my doctor. It was sad when this happened. In his office they jad a big family photo. After this they put a piece of paper over mark in the photo but left Lori in the photo.
I was highly educated in "Clinical Detachment." My work ethic required it as I was an ER, RN trauma nurse. I totally Love your Voice, twisted stories, and all the work and time put into them. I still "Remove" my heart, but it aches just the same. Thanks and blessings to all. Praying 🙏
Wow, just wow. The time and energy these people put into their lies, they could actually do what they lie they do. It's terrifying that you truly don't know someone fully. And its terrifying what human beings are capable of. Poor innocent Lori loved him and trusted him. Gave up the job she loved just to support him in his dreams and look how he done her. Very, very sad and tragic. Bless the families involved, including his family. I couldn't imagine.
Yez! Thank you for saying this. I've often wondered the same about folks who spin these elaborate lies. Like if scammers used all that skill and brain power legitimately they'd be wealthier and no jail time hanging over their head! God bless Lori's broken hearted family and friends.😥
Exactly. Why did this guy decide to construct elaborate lies just to waste his opportunities in life? Seems like it would be easier to just go to med school
My brother has spun so many lies, that he gets them confused. He has 6 different stories about his accident that cost him his arm and 3 stories about his OD. These people that lie like this, they literally don't know how to tell the truth. Nor can they keep track of their lies forever
@@ismae-rienne4991 I feel my husband after 15 years the same only worse at 61 years old. I know my family wonders if I’m so miserable. Why am I still in this marriage? It’s a scary one because I became disabled in it physically feeling worse every argument of the day that he says it’s my fault holy shit.
@@brenne8030 I am so sorry. I will pray for u. I hope u get the strength to get out and with someone that cares about u that will help u when u need it.
Just the thought that he’s still finding ways to profit of her murder is baffling. Hopefully his parole is denied again and again because I can’t fathom the idea that her family has to share this planet with him.
Many states have “Son of Sam” laws now…formally known as a notoriety for profit law…the makes it a crime for a convicted criminal to make any form of profit based on their conviction. It’s bad enough they get paid to make nickels making license plates, do laundry, etc, during their sentences…they certainly don’t need to make millions in disgusting monetary gain that simultaneously causes more pain to the victims and their families. I believe CO has these statutes in place but he keeps trying.
I'm just glad his brother and father came out with the truth as soon as he confessed. Too often people protect their family members when they need to be brought to justice.
She was far too good for him. It's awful that he took such a bright light away from this world. But I'm glad we get to learn her name and a little bit about who she was. She deserves more, but we can at least remember her.
That is crazy that he made up all those elaborate lies when he could have just invested that same energy into *actually* building a career. It's sad Lori has to lose her life because of this...
This story gives me chills! I was married to someone just like that! Planned a graduation party but he was never attending school. Plus lots more! Lots of lies. Like he just couldn't help it.
I haven't heard from this channel in a minute. I love this channel. And I agree, best narrator bar none. I watched the one about that college kid in the interrogation room that was frozen the whole. Totally creepy and tragic for the family. I love justice and the fact we get to see these evil people get what they deserve.
Narcissists are truly something despicable. My step-father is one. Being raised by him was miserable and I hated myself for twenty-five years because of him. Thought I was worthless. I know better now. But I fear for my mom's safety because he confided in the past that, after their breakup, he had thoughts of killing her because he couldn't have her. Narcissists are terrifying.
Sounds like my step dad. He would always put negative things into my mom's mind about her kid's. It took me so long to realize they were no good for me and I needed to get away from them if I wanted to work on myself.
@@nickyblue4866 or maybe she’s not lying. Tbh I find it absolutely disgusting when the step parent knowingly gets into a relationship with a person who has children and then doesn’t even like the kids. 🤷🏻♀️
You guys should do a case about Terry Weaver. He was a teenage boy who I went to school with in Blaine Washington. One day he came to school and told us all this crazy story that he had murdered a woman and even showed his blood stains on his clothes to prove it none of us believed, him at least at first... But then about a half an hour later detectives came and pulled him out of class the next thing I knew we were all being questioned individually about what he told us turns out he had actually killed a woman the night before he snuck into her house and stabbed her to death and raped her. I'll never forget it that day shattered my innocence
I couldn't find if he had been resentenced yet but as of 2018 they were going to resentence him due to some law that has been applied retroactively that made automatic life without parole not a thing for minors anymore even if tried as an adult. He could still get life without parole it just wouldn't have been the result of a mandatory sentence at that point.
I’m so glad you covered this case. And so in depth. I feel like Lori has been forgotten and her precious child too. It was a case that rocked Utah, one I will never forget.
Holy crap, that desk seargent should have been fired. You DO NOT need to wait 24 hours to report a missing person. If you have reasonable suspicion that someone you know is in danger, EVERY SECOND COUNTS. Making someone wait 24 hours would be a death sentence in some cases
It's stories like these that make me lose even more faith in humanity, question everything, second guess the "motives" of others in my life & truly contemplate just how well I _KNOW_ my spouse. *This is the ultimate betrayal.* And learning what actually happened to Lori & WHY makes this whole thing even worse! Simply confronting your spouse for their own deviant, pathological behavior & calling them out for getting caught in their own web of lies??!! I would have been beyond angry & irate had I been Lori! So tragic! Why did SHE have to pay such an enormous price...why did SHE have to pay any price at all?? So glad to hear that her family decided to remove that monsters last name from her grave stone. My thoughts, prayers & deepest condolences to her family, friends & loved ones.
Lol I never had any faith in humanity, why do people say they lost faith in humanity, we humans always prove and show that we are bunch of crazy apes , we've been insane apes since apes evolved
Her death was so senseless....he killed her to try and keep his facade from collapsing. What a POS. He spent so long pretending to be in school, if he just would have put his efforts into actually doing it. SMH
EWU continues to be an inspiration to many people. May they continue to receive more blessings on their behalf. Their storytimes on this channel have always been one of the best.
To all runners, never continuously run the same route at the same time everyday. Someone is always watching. Always try to change up your daily outside routine
I went into this hoping against all odds that he didn’t do this and that he just looked a little suspicious but about 2 seconds into the interrogation I knew…so heartbreaking. 😢
And he only got 6 YEARS....then after the public outcry was so much they only changed it to 15 years!?! Like he LITERALLY murdered his PREGNANT WIFE in cold blood knowing she was carrying his OWN CHILD and then dumped her in the TRASH but he ONLY gets 15 years?!? Initially 6 years?!?! I genuinely can NOT comprehend how a non violent marijuana "offender" can being doing LIFE in prison right now while a Narcissist Psychopath how murdered his wife carrying his own child and dumped them in the garbage can be released in 15 years 2035...... I don't feel safe knowing my future kids could possibly come across this man. I still feel like the public needs to do something to have REAL JUSTICE!
The way he breaks down the cases , especially the interrogations is absolutely fascinating and totally addicting to watch to anyone whose a true crime fan. I can’t get enough of these. Especially the long interrogations throughout murder investigations. Please give me more !!!
You could have your own netflix show the way you break down the crime, take us through the story, analyze the different people involved . Best RU-vid True Crime narrator!
EWU is, hands down, one of THE BEST true crime channels I've ever watched. Your narration is right up there (in my humble opinion anyway 😁) with Peter Thomas, the narrator of "Forensic Files " and Bill Curtis of "Cold Case Files " and "American Justice ". I'm never disappointed when I see a new upload from EWU, love everything you do!!
I remember this. I feel like this was after Lacey Peterson. Makes me so sick what this monster did. Life just isnt fair. She didnt deserve this. Neither did her loved ones. How dare this "husband". The very thing he was supposed to protect her from.. smh.. 💔💔💔💔
I just wanted to say that this is one of my favorite channels on RU-vid. Also there’s something in his voice that helps me fall asleep?? Kinda weird but it’s his voice and toning.
the fact that he was so curious and concerned with the fact that he might look guilty for not taking the test made him look even more guilty than if he had taken the test and failed.
@@arunrajlparanjothi4355 tbh it's starting to like that way 🤣 its not admissible in court, but it almost always makes guilty suspect look even guiltier
You do not have to wait 24 hours to report someone missing. Maybe once upon a time you did, but not anymore. We know how important the first 48 hours are now.
Everytime EWU Crew posts, I get this sense of excitement that is indescribable compared to other crime documentary channels I've watched. You guys are amazing, and have had my support over the last year. 💚
Best narrator on RU-vid, hands down! As for that first interview with Mark, I'm in no way an expert but he seemed to be trying to remember his earlier story. If you tell the truth there's no need to even think about what to answer, to me it just comes automatically.
Wow the police continued searching the landfill for 3 months until they found her body. And who knows how long they would have continued searching if they didn't find her. I know that law enforcement will do the most meticulous, time consuming tasks to be able to solve something or find someone in relation to murder, but I didn't think they would go on for 3 months.
Omg EWU IS BACK TO ITS GLORYYYYYY! I this case, the narrator, THIS is what makes your channel top 3 best true crime channels on here. Great job keep doing vids like that! 👏🏾
When you discover a gross lie or lies about your significant other, never confront them alone, surprise them at a family gathering, with your things already cleared out of the home and your new location undisclosed.
I remember this, and watching news about the investigation when it was ongoing. My parents were really worried about my older sisters because they liked to run in Memory Grove, too. We unfortunately have a large homeless population in Salt Lake City, and it looks like Mark was trying to blame them for what happened to Lori. Crazy that it's been almost 20 years since then.
As soon as I heard he got a new mattress the same day she went missing.. I knew. You get a mattress for your new place, not get a new one right before you move. Also, as the detective id be like “ok new mattress, we’ll let me see the old one, where is it?”
This is one of the best voices I've ever heard. I'm assuming it's not AI (not trying to be rude it really is hard to tell), but the punctuation is so good every time.
Every desk jocky cop that says "you need to wait at least a day to report someone missing" when it is clearly out of the ordinary, should be charged with neglect, and negligence. That is ridiculous.
How the hell does anything less than life in prison make any sense for murdering someone? Especially a planned, calculated, then an attempt at covering it up. Nothing less than life in prison should be the law.
Honestly when someone denies taking a lie detector test or the one mentioned in the video it doesn't make me more suspicious of them and I don't think it should all that much. I don't handle big emotions well and even SPEAKING sometimes makes me nervous so if my partner disappeared I wouldn't take one even if I was innocent. I would have been the least believable person in the world: I'd be drenched in sweat and shaking and I'd fail every lie detector test I'd take, which would make me even more nervous, cause me to act all erratic and put the police's attention on me acting like a psycho instead of looking for my missing SO. You don't have to do or say anything that makes you seem suspicious and it shouldn't be seen as deceptive when someone doesn't want to cooperate 100% with everything the police tell them to do
Yeyyyy u have uploaded it makes my day when u do…… law-enforcement really need to change the 24 hours missing person to 1 minute seriously because anything can happen within 24 hours and it will be down to them that the person had been murdered killed deceased or what not in that time frame, when they can actually save them, save more people
