It’s absolutely horrible that two men went to prison for something they never did and that even though they finally got out of prison. Their lives were permanently ruined. And it’s even more horrible to know this happens more than people think. I know no justice system is perfect but this story is a reminder of exactly why we must continue and never stop working towards at least improving our justice system.
@feebee5557

Just a side note, I read the story about Richard Danziger, the man in the second story who was proven innocent; he's doing great & has a wife, kids, loves to garden & with his millions from the settlement he was able to travel around the world, including Australia where he's always wanted to go. Anyways, he's never told on who beat him so bad that day in prison, the only thing that's known is that he was severely kicked in the head with STEELTOE boots. Now, it doesn't take a genius to know who wears steeltoe boots around the prisons & it's definitely none of the inmates.
@TheDweeb002
@TheDweeb002 2 года назад
Actually they do sell steal toe boots in some prisons. It all boils down to what the warden will allow on the commissary. American prisons back in the 90's were a lot more lenient with security measures. In the second case, if Joseph hadn't come forward & confessed then the two innocent men would have died in jail labeled as guilty for the crime they didn't even commit. Had Joseph not already had a life sentence he probably would've not said anything at all. Only reason he did is because he wasn't ever getting out anyways. Just imagine how many times this has happened & is still happening? Lots of innocent men & women paying for a crime they didn't commit, usually because the cops want to get a quick closure to a case. I can't imagine nor would I want to imagine what hell it must be to have no freedom & locked up for the rest of life, especially for someone that's completely innocent. Also, for every person that's innocent within the jail, that equals one that's guilty outside the jail free within our society. THAT part scares the crap outta me!!

21:12 The interrogation process itself can provide suspects with such information as can such as polygraph examinations. Add to that how malleable and suggestible memory is (huge issues here as far as testimony consistency is concerned) and you have a recipe for disaster for innocent people. Plus when you isolate someone for hours during the course of the aforementioned interrogation, people often will say just about anything to end it. The many potential errors of homicide investigations should be openly addressed by such a channel. It does a good job of pointing out how there's no nonverbal indicator for deception (of course not because not even brain imaging can do that), and how establishing baseline behaviors, deviations, and other explanatory factors for said nonverbals, are but shys away from how often confirmation bias and the like can compel LEO to pursue some paths over others despite the signs that were accessible at the time.

Gosh, that first story is heart breaking! That dad proves just how far someone will go to protect their family. What a stud! And those evil bastards who committed such horrific and senseless crimes, sitting there on camera, opening the families gifts with such arrogance, they stood no chance against a fathers love for his family.

Honestly, if it was a movie, I'd watch the hell out of it. It's so tragic, what happened, but that father deserves to be recognized for his bravery, cunning, and (literally) undying love for his own.

I had an African Gray parrot for 30 years. They're very very smart, but they don't pick up conversations that fast. They must have fought alot and Glena had to be abusive to her husband. That bird pick up words and phrases they had to have said to each other lots of times. So she was obviously threatening him for some time. Very sad.

It’s not just THEIR DNA 🧬 that can get them caught, but familiar DNA 🧬 as well….one of your relatives could be on file OR have put their DNA 🧬 into one of those genealogy companies and they could trace it back to you cause the DNA is similar 😊

How many years in prison and brain damage did Detective Hector Polanco receive for false arrest, intimidation, unlawful imprisonment against Chris and Richard, and for aggravated bodily harm against Richard? After all, he was, by and large, an accomplice to the attack on Richard, and the justice system also for acting in concert. It is only when the makers, keepers, and enforcers of law are held accountable for actions that impact the lives of others, that there could ever be any real justice.

The Danziger and Ochoa one is so frustrating. Railroaded right into life sentences just because someone thought maybe they drank a toast to someone that died. Ridiculous; cops just wanted an easy win on that one.

Yes for sure. But stupid Ochoa has helped them. If you wanna ruin your own life, go ahead, but he didn't have to drag his friend down with him, offer a bogus confession on his friend's behalf and ruin his life, as well. I've seen several documentaries on this particular case.
