Definitely isn’t. And I watch these videos of people interviewing addicts on the street asking if they’re “messing with the blues” (read: taking fentanyl) while they’re acting out of their heads and wiggly- and I think peope are so uneducated. Even the ones who profess to be educated. Opioids doesn’t flip a person out of their minds. If it isn’t mental Illness causing their issues it’s something like spice or days being awake on meth. Tramadol is a big fat nothing. It isn’t even schedule 2. It’s akin to taking an 800mg ibuprofen or at worst a Tylenol 3 (with codeine). Definitely does NOT make someone want to murder. Also, opioids are drugs that make you sleep so you can’t even blame them for psychosis brought on by sleep deprivation. Her whole excuse is bunk. She just thinks it’ll get her some sympathy and be a mitigating factor. It won’t do either. Murder is WAY off the charts!! It’s was that dirty old money that got Jen. The thoughts of paying all the bills and taking a vacation. Greed. A story as old as time!

For the people wondering about tramadol.....My drug addiction/abuse started in 2012 with Tramadol. I didn't realize right away that Tramadol was the reason I kept getting "sick" . I didn't even know about drug addiction at the time or even understand it at first because I was only 17/18 years old. I was taking upwards of 30 pills a night. It was disgusting. I graduated from Tramadol to percocet. Then heroin. Then meth. I've been completely clean for over 6 years now. But yes tramadol is 100% addictive like that. That's why it is now a controlled substance.

I’ve been addicted to painkillers myself. I remember one time when my prescription wasn’t renewed on time and I had to wait three days to get the medication. During those three days I was extremely sick and wanted to die. As a result I contacted my doctor and said I needed help getting off from the painkillers. They had prescribed them to me for 14 years!? I suffer from chronic sciatica after a work related accident, and in the beginning they helped. But after a while I needed them so I wouldn’t get sick. Now I’m three years sober, it’s easier to live with pain than withdrawal. I had to have medical assisted treatment to get off from the pills. Never again, whenever a doctor asks if I want painkillers because of my injuries I always decline. That was one vicious monkey to get rid off and I don’t ever want to meet that demon again.

I tell people that one of the most insidious things about opioid withdrawl is that you know you can make it all go away in 20 minutes for $40. @drygnfyre

In most instances, depends on what the prosecution thinks will stick. First degree murder requires higher burden of proof, the prosecution might have felt they didn't have enough physical evidence to get that, so settled on a charge they felt was more likely to stay. (I have gone through opiate addiction which started with prescription meds but I struggled with getting judged by my appearance as an addict BEFORE i ever was. But they would not prescribe be meds as they were labeling me as an addict WITHOUT being one at all. But people with the same conditions as me were freely prescribed pain meds like crazy, since they weren't "freaks") Basically mistreatment and judgement by doctors turned me into an addict. Being in chronic pain and just trying to be able to function daily and keep a job perpetuated it all. This lead me down the path ultimately of heroin addiction. When my symptom flairs so bad the Tramadol doesn't work, I wrap my foot in an "ice boot" to help the pain and swelling to go down. Only once I accidently took 2, too close together. I couldn't stop shaking and was sick to my stomach. If for some reason I get distracted and can't remember if I took it, I just wait and extra hour or two to be sure. I didn't figure it out right away, but eventually I realized that if I didn't take it, after a period of time, I would go into withdrawal. I didn't like the idea of being dependent at all. Finally I spoke with my doctor, and we came up with a tapering plan, and I got off it, and I will never take it again. It has since been reclassified as a Schedule 4 opioid. It is definitely addictive for some people. I am not sure that it's an excuse for homicide, but I am sure taking it in those quantities had to have contributed to an unhealthy mental state.

Many comments here saying tramadol is a weak painkiller and not very addictive. Well its a strong opioid, its not given out here in the uk very often as its addictive. Ive also been on it and it spaced me right out and gave me weird dreams. I stopped because i didnt like how it made me feel. Being an addict is not justification for murder, but it can be a motive.

In the other comments we have read it’s stronger in the UK than it is here in America. Here it’s not much stronger than a Tylenol, but it is addictive.

@@rhondadavis1483not true. It’s a schedule 4 in the US and it is a lot stronger than Tylenol. I’m a nurse and it’s used a lot for back injuries.

Toradol is weak, like a muscle relaxer. Tramadol does have opioid in it and is a scheduled narcotic. Is it like Tylenol No. 3.

Tramadol is an opioid! She said it wasn’t! Why won’t people find out about the meds they’re taking. If I’m prescribed anything then I always look it up to see about side effects, addiction possibilities, etc as I don’t trust doctors very much.

Tramadol is just an excuse she's using as an excuse. It's not even close to addictive as real opiods. I never felt any desirable effects.
