I don't know where I heard this story but when Ozzie Guillen was constructing the post-season roster for the 2005 White Sox, someone suggested taking a younger pitcher who was statistically better than Hernandez. Ozzie's response was "Fuck you, this is El Duque"

I'd like a video on Jason Kendall since he's likely the most underrated catcher in history and a video about Brian Giles' brother Marcus who put up the 3rd most WAR in the NL in 2003 and was a great second baseman for the Braves in the early 2000s but injuries and decline ended his career at only 29.

As a Cuban lifelong El Duque fan, I must say his first team isn't called Capitals. Is Industriales. One of the two best teams in the world, according to El Duque. The other one is NYY. Really enjoyed the video. Glad to see Cuban players are not forgotten and get some recognition.

One of my favorite Yankees from the dynasty. El Duque has one of those stories that could be made into a movie or a mini series. I don't know much about his Cuban stats but I heard he was a workhorse and was the best player on a dominate Cuban national team. We are fortunate that we got to see him shine on the biggest of stages.

Me and a buddy were at yankees old timers day last yr. We were in a elevator near suite area and who walks in elevator with his translator. El duque himself. As we all left elevator I said a couple words to him as he was walking away. He exited elevator and was walking into a door and he heard me and he turned around and motioned for us to come and he took a couple pics with us. Very humble guy and he could of easily let the door close behind him and didnt.

Some may wonder why El Duque didn't pitch at all in the 2005 ALCS after such a dominating performance in the ALDS and his impressive postseason resume. Shouldn't he have been one of the first guys to turn to when the Sox were in a jam? Nope, he simply wasn't needed. After dropping game 1 the four aces mentioned in the video pitched FOUR STRAIGHT COMPLETE GAME WINS to win the series 4-1. As a Sox fan that fact does not get talked about nearly enough, we will never see anything like that happen ever again

Holy shit, I threw a literal fist pump at the 8:00 mark with the El Duque TV ad. It remains the thing I remember most about him. Oh, and yes, I do remember Ben Grieve for one simple reason: it was the second time in all the years I played fantasy baseball that I drafted the eventual Rookies of the Year. It was him and Kerry Wood that year. The first time was the Mike Piazza/Tim Salmon year. But as much as I still brag about it 20+ years later, it's worth noting that I had a lot of absolutely wasted picks in other seasons in which I tried to pick that year's ROY winners. Scott Leius and Bret Barberie in 1991, for example. And why wouldn't I use my 18th and 20th round picks on Sidney Ponson and Carl Pavano?

For another option of obscure, lesser known good player to do a video next - you should consider doing Hiroki Kuroda. No all star appearances, but he was about as solid of a starter and reliable as you can depend on. Played full seasons for most part except for the one year which he managed 20 starts still despite injury, ERA never above 4, ERA+ stayed above 100 throughout, and also had a few good postseason games. Honestly underappreciated though I did like him when he played for the Dodgers. Again reliable and steady, also had a pretty darn good NPB career prior to coming to MLB in 2008 and then upon returning to Japan after his MLB stint.

Kind of how the Coyotes road tested bringing the kachina back with the NHL’s reverse retros.
