The Most Underrated Event In Track & Field!

No other movement in sport subjects a human limb to more force than the step in the triple jump. How much force? Research at the University of Iowa showed that the force exerted by a triple jumper can be up to to 22 times the athletes body weight. According to Dr Sam Allen, a lecturer in biomechanics at Loughborough University, that’s the equivalent of an athlete briefly weighing 1.7 tonnes / 3600 pounds (or the weight of a fully grown rhino) and briefly standing on one leg. Published papers have proven triple jumpers develop unusually thick thigh and shin bones to enable them to withstand the force of the event.
And that is just one of the reasons the triple jump might be the most underrated event in track and field. This video highlights an incredible track and field event at 1000 frames per second from the hop to the step to the jump.

Then I have to add the word meter behind each player's name after I google their name based on their picture only. Assuming that everyone watches the NBA is false, but even 10 year olds around the world know what a 1meter is. We don't measure distance using distinct human individuals. I was a jumper and if I go to the referee and wait for him to announce my jump's measuring, and he says "7 and a half jordans" fvvk that! I am slapping the sense into him at whatever cost.

As a jumper, I hated the triple jump with all my heart. (I was mainly a sprinter, but my jumps were decent enough to qualify me for nationals and be like top 5-8). Things that people might not have noticed: On the first stride, you must land on the SAME foot you jumped with. In french, it's called cloche pied (not sure what's that in English). Now, that you landed on the same foot you used to generate the first stride, you have to generate a 2nd stride. Landing on the same foot is the harder part since it puts more pressure on your heels. I personally, had more injuries on triple jump than I did on any other event. The worst one was a heel injury. I spent like a month feeling my heel split into 2 parts whenever I stepped on it. Triple jump is far more exhausting than long jump and running speed isn't that helpful as in long jump. All in all, I hate triple jump. Whenever I see it now, I just know that the jumper is feeling it in his leg after he lands in the sand and goes to check his result.
@gehirndoper
@gehirndoper Год назад
Do you HAVE to land twice on the first leg as per rule or is it just better?
@khalidcloud4342

@@gehirndoper per rules. If you switch legs, you'll get a red flag from the referee as in your jump attempt is void. If anything switching legs would most likely result in more jump distance.

School taught us it wrong for years. They said both feet to hop then when you land then you push off with one leg for a step then you had to land with both. Feet to push off for the jump. I never did it how they wanted me to and when i did it was too slow and they said i under preformed. Ive always hated triple jump for that reason and went off on how useless it was. Honestly seeing this slow motion video breakdown made me realize triple jump isn't as bad as what my school made it out to be. In fact i feel confident i could actually do it now that ive seen how its really done.
