It's sad how one of the best shooter games in the early 2010s just fell into its sad current state, it could've still been a game with an active playerbase but Jagex just had to ruin it

in fact, open spades is a ""copy"" of ace of spades. ace of spades was just like open spades ages ago, however, the game was bought by some company and took an entirely different direction. then open spades came in, it was free and just like old ace of spades.

I'm definitely biased, since I played Ace of Spades when it was first released all the way back in 2010 (or was it 2011, idk), but I gave the Roblox a version a couple of games, and it really is not a successor to the original Ace of Spades, it's more of a successor to the Steam release of Ace of Spades, which was largely hated by fans of the original, but did go on to form its own community of dedicated fans. The roblox version is far more kiddified, AoS was originally supposed to be a hardcore shooter, where the time to kill is short and balancing your building, destruction and shooting was important. The dev, Ben Aksoy, even said as much, claiming he made AoS because he was frustrated with modern shooters encouraging a "lone wolf" style of play so he made AoS. The roblox version doesn't feel like it has adopted any of the design principles of the original game, it feels more like they are just trying to steal that audience, while the original game dies slowly. Part of the problem is that the game is quickly dying and the heyday of 2011/2012 is long gone. Now the only populated servers feature the arena gamemode (worst in the game), babel which is probably the best in the game today and lastly servers running hallway or variations of it, which has always been one of the more hated maps in the game and part of the reason why so many people stopped playing (myself included) is because the game started to be dominated by Hallway servers. The biggest issue with hallway is that it always just devolves into one of the teams spawncamping the other to death, which is something that had always scared new players away, or made them think the game was bullshit. Also the prevalence and ease of hacking pushed the game further into obscurity.

I dont think they "copied" it states in the description of the roblox game, a tribute to the game.

Roblox version is a joke to the 0.75 version. It’s more run n gun, which makes building inferior and the block to player ratio is totally off

Did you know the shotgun is almost accurate to the irl version of it? Becuase shotguns irl are accurate and has much more tighter spread. Of course the shotgun in aos is short meaning it has more spread. The rifle is also based on fn 49 rifle which player thought it was m1 garand or m14 rifle.

roblox version is literally the same, you can do everything that you can do in open spades. even in description it says: "this game is a tribute to the original 2011 ace of spades", all the original mechanics from aos are remade. and roblox aos is kinda better, it has diverse guns , bombs, even blocks. maybe the gunplay isn't as intense like in open spades, but everything other is better. and your title is clickbaity, WHOLE ROBLOX COPIED ACE OF SPADES?? NOT A DEVELOPER BUT WHOLE ROBLOX??

I always play these types of games. BattleBit, Ace of Spades, ArmsOfSolitare, a lot of voxel shooter. I just like the graphics and the action.

Is the game gone?

Before I state my opinion, I will say that I have only played 2 small games of OpenSpades, as that was all that was available at the moment. When I tried OpenSpades, the movement just felt very clunky, building and digging felt too slow, and getting headshot by someone I couldn't even see was quite annoying. While building and digging is less prevelant in the roblox version, building, digging, and getting creative is still very rewarding, especially if you are using a hardcore weapon. The movement feels smooth, and there are less build limitations and you can build while running, which in my opinion makes advancing frontlines a whole lot more fast and interesting. While you can still get headshot out of nowhere, the decreased damage and increased selection of weapons makes firefights more slow and skillful, as opposed to OpenSpades where I felt that whoever saw the other first would win. I will say though that the scoreboard and points in the roblox version definitely promote the run and gun playstyle. I still feel that I havent given OpenSpades much of a chance, so if there are ever any events or times when more people are playing, let me know.

"roblox" didn't copy it as roblox is a hub of creators, not their own creator. Openspades is an unofficial remake of "AceOfSpades" which is the original "minecraft with guns." AceOfSpades was created by an indie game but was bought by Jagex. Jagex ruined the game btw. "AceOfSpadez" (with a Z) is the roblox version, yes, but is arguably better given the improved weapon system, with much more to choose from, and quite frankly the combat as a whole.
