This was the first gta I ever owned as a kid. Fuck that forklift mission. I was 8 years old and got stuck on that mission for weeks. Now I’m 24 and I’m actually forklift certified. God damnit.
LMFAO FR. Boomshine Blow Out. I tried to get passed that mission since I started playing at 8 years old, and only finished it at like 10 or 11. The quadbike race mission with Luis was the other mission I couldnt get past, so it was just those two and the ones after to get to the next city
One of the top 3 GTA's IMO. The vice city vibes but more polished with more features, so good. The fact that it was portable on PSP?? Even better. Huge shame this game will likely never be remastered.
It won't be remastered, but with AI increasing the ease of decompilation workloads we might get a native port. Similar to Mario64 being ported to the psp and pc and majoras mask being released as a native pc port. Only a matter of time before you are playing it native on your future desktop
I think LCS sold as many if not more copies on the PSP than VCS so I wouldn't say it was ignored, perhaps less talked about. For me LCS had its own charm but VCS just turned the dial to eleven. It packed so much content into the VC map and introduced some much needed quality of life features over LCS.
You have 0 knowledge on what is underrated, GTA LCS sold 8 million copies on PSP alone and is the highest selling PSP game ever and has modern mobile release, VCS came at the end of PSP life cycle and had half the sales figure and doesn't have modern mobile release, go look up underrated in a dictionary!!
People tend to appreciate the 80's aesthetics of VC and VCS more and just ignore the dark and gritty vibe of LC on both GTA 3 and LCS. o I love the 80's and everything sure, but Liberty City has an equal place for me, especially Portland in GTA 3, that place just reeks of crime and the mob.
I dug my PSP and my game collection out of our closet a few weeks back, I had left the battery in and it ruined the PSP. I bought one off eBay, a 3000, in great shape and have been playing and just finally beat MGS Peace Walker. I had 36 games, one case was empty and that was GTA Vice City Stories. I was checking the Game Sale subreddit and someone was selling the game loose for $18. It arrived a couple of days ago. I've also bought The Warriors, Driver 76, Scarface, Tiger Woods 10, and Burnout Legends. They are supposed to all arrive in the coming days. Sorry for the novel but I have been having such a blast playing my PSP, been playing it more than my PS5! Trying to decide which game to start, Vice City Stories or Manhunt 2. Love this channel Kevin, it has helped feed my love of the PSP, and I hooked up my PS3 thanks to your videos. Started playing the Telltale Back to the Future game. Keep up the good work!
Everyone says CJ is the badass with a heart of gold nothing gets more badass than enlisting in the marines he was nearly the most straight forward protagonist in a GTA game I honestly think if his brother wasn't there he wouldn't have died in Vice City
It turns out that Sgt was corrupt towards the end. Thats sad because you got people like that in the military. Alot of people dont join for the right reasons.
This man’s videos give me life. They also remove it from my wallets since I’ve been rebuying old Sony consoles and games but I can’t wait to play all of them again
Altough I think this GTA game is one of the hardest ones, especially on handheld/PSP, because some missions in Vice City Stories feel very unbalanced & unfair. But I still have fun playing Vice City Stories on my PS Vita.
They werent that hard back in the day because everyone used cheats lol. Either way, that run Rockstar went on in the 2000s was just insane. I hope you've played The Warriors.
Great game. Awesome protagonist, cool 80s vibe, killer soundtrack and a bunch of added extras from the original Vice City. The Vice City atmosphere is my favorite of the 3d gta era.
Only thing i hate though is the damn Papi Don't Screech mission. 🤦♂️ God don't get me started on that mission as i used to scream so much at this mission as a kid and boy do i still have nightmares about it even to this very day.
been playing an emulated version on PC and oh boy i wasn't ready for the difficulty. this game beats every hard mission from any other GTA by a wide margin. even casual seeming missions where you simply have to drive around will make life hell for you.
first gta game i owned was vice city on ps2 in 2010. the copy i bought glitched out on me and i returned it. bought san andreas and the same thing happened. returned it and the only gta game available at my gamestop for ps2 was vice city stories. it was literally the best game i ever played at the time. fast forward 14 years and i have all five 3d universe gta games and vcs is still my favorite.
I totally agree. This game is highly underrated. Great OST, the main character is interesting, and we can swim ! Swimming in Vice City, which has a lot of water, is a real benefit
In college me and a high school buddy was the only people who had psps. Gta stories was such a huge launches for us because we could wirelessly link up and have 1 on 1 death matches. I had more time in liberty city stories than I did gta 3. Vice city though, will forever be the goat. The radio, the big name actors. I had the t shirt, I put my time in lol.
Totally hear you when you say how underrated this game is as it really is awesome, also toally hear you when you said about the soundtrack, as there's no way I would be into 80s music as much if it wasn't for this game and Vice City 🥰
I remember getting vcs and lcs for the psp they came in one package, vcs is very underrated even though the story, soundtrack and the business empire were fantastic, the difficulty was all over the place i remember getting stuck during unfriendly competition and light my pyre those missions were hard on psp.
This game made me rage a couple times when you had to use the forklift to move the crate of guns when the warehouse is on fire and health goes down fast
I'm replaying this game on PPSSPP on my Windows 10 Laptop / Mini PC and Android Phone and Tablet. It works like a charm. I think one should play GTA Vice City which will complement this game. This GTA edition has more nuanced game mechanics such as Vic being able to swim, unlike Tommy who drowns in water.
Dang i need to give this game another go. 😮 I bought it on PSP when it was first released and never did more than probably 20-25 missions as I was too heavy into just causing random chaos and especially using CheatDevice by Edison Carter on it. I loved flying cars/tanks/motorcycles at warp speed so fast that the refresh rate of the PSP screen would ghost heavily 😂 but yeah there was so much you could do with it that I had too much fun with it. You could flood or drought the entire map with raising/lowering water levels, lower/raise or even reverse gravity, and i think there is no sky boundary as you can fly upward until the screen glitches and even goes pitch black, plus hundreds more options. I also got LCS afterwards but found myself enjoying VCS a lot more. It was so mind blowing having these games on a handheld. I recently got a PSP again (blue PSP-2001) but the thumbstick was hard to go back to after years of having better thumbsticks on every other handheld I have. I now prefer emulating it for the most part. There is a newer CheatDevice Remastered plugin that works on both PSP hardware and PPSSPP on PC (maybe Android too?) & that was fun to experience again. I will also definitely try beating the entire game now after this video (without cheats). Thank you for bringing more eyes to this masterpiece. 🙏
Tested this out on the PCSX2 emulator as well with Liberty city stories and they look pretty awesome when upscaled! Highly recommend doing a video on the PCSX2 emulation sometime
People nowadays literally don't know the meaning of underrated and just stick it in a title, it wasn't underrated when it first came out on PSP and wasn't on PS2
Such a good game and I’ve been wanting them to do something with this title. I can’t even get my ps3 download since they lost licensing many years ago.
I miss when gta games used to be inspired by movies. This one, particularly, oozes atmosphere, and playing on a psp felt so novel. Gta V was a big letdown, storywise, and i have no hopes for modern Rockstar and gta VI.
I know everyone almost always picks San Andreas but Vice City is easily my favourite. All the 80s movie references just make it that much more enjoyable. Vice City Stories was a great treat as well.
OKAY!! So far Peeps are talking about VCS lately this Year... *AS* *THEY* *SHOULD!* And Yes, *Criminally* Underrated Game... BEST Stories Prequel... and BEST 3D Game along with SA💯❤ Vice City Stories not only need more Love, but need to be treated like SA's Level of Memes & Popularity and stop Sleeping on this Gem, *IT* *HAS* *PHIL* *FREAKIN* *COLLINS* come on now😩
Funny you say that, I'm actually playing San Andreas at the moment and I just did the flying school! I HATE flying a plane on that game, it's ridiculous! The little RC plane mission is a bitch aswell. I never want to fly a plane ever again in a GTA game.
2:26 I was disgusted the first time I played GTA V on PS3, and after failing a mission for the first time (maybe once or twice), a prompt came up to skip the entire mission (or part of, don't remember). That is the worst mechanic added to modern games. GTA should not have checkpoints.
