Razor is loved by all the trendy POST 2000 Thrash Metal Revivalists , and hated by 1980s Thrash Metal purists. It's Thrash Metal specifically embraced by Extreme Metal fans that hate 1980s Metal but love Guns n Rose's. Its equivalent to Pre Steve Grimmet Onslaught, and could be considered a Canadian Destruction. One of those bacca bacca fast polka beat Thrash Metal bands with 0 Melody and very few Hard Driving mid tempo moments. It's not as Evil as fellow countrymen Sacrifice, nor as memorable and listener friendly as Fellow countrymen Exciter . Razor is fast and like Destruction, it's hard to distinguish 1 song from another
Some underrated albums in my opinion: - Mr. Bungle by Mr. Bungle (despite its wierdness, is one of the best albums of all time) - Wolf's Lair Abyss by Mayhem (my favorite EP of all time and one of the best black metal recordings ever) - Necroticism by Carcass (by far the best Carcass album and of the best tech death albums ever, it gets overshadowed by Heartwork) - The Fragile Art Of Existence by Control Denied (one of the best prog metal albums of all time)
A few of (in my Opinion) underrated Gems: Motörhead-The Wörld is Yöurs Billy Talent-Dead Silence Nightingale-Retribution (fucking Masterpiece) High Spirits-Another Night The Devil's Blood-The Thousandfold Epicenter Within Temptation-The Unforgiving Blind Guardian-At the Edge of Time Lunar Aurora-Hoagascht Sonata Arctica-The Days of Greys
Vinterland-Welcome My Last Chapter.(Melodic Black Metal) Gorement-The Ending Quest.(Swedish Death Metal with gothic hints) Lord Belial-Enter the Moonlight Gate.(Melodic Black Metal) Ahab- Call of the Wretched Sea.(Funeral Doom) Judas Iscariot-To Embrace the Corpses Bleeding.(Raw Black Metal) These are someof the most wonderful pieces of music that came out of the underground (that I'm aware of) deffinitely worth checking out!!
Some albums that I'd consider pretty underrated or overlooked: Agatus - The Eternalist Deceased - Surreal Overdose Tyrant - Too Late To Pray Tales of Medusa - The Fatal Wounding Gaze Apotheosis - Farthest From The Sun Forgotten Spell - Epiphaneia Phosphorus (Angel, God or Insanity) Shub Niggurath - The Kinglike Celebration Brutality - Screams of Anguish Adramelch - Irae Melanox
My underrated metal albums list: Icon - Icon Fifth Angel - Time Will Tell Riot - Born in America Pantera - Power Metal Darkthrone - Plaguewielder Candlemass - Chapter VI Toxik - Think This Katharsis - 666 Eisbrecher - Antikörper God Macabre - The Wintersong Cloven Hoof - A Sultan's Ransom Leatherwolf - Street Ready Black Sabbath - TYR Ragnarok - Arising Realm
I always found Cloven Hoof fascinating, because despite being one of those bands included in the NWOBHM movement once you get to A Sultan's Ransom they sound much more like an American band akin to Liege Lord or Omen than their compatriots. To this day I have no idea if that was intentional or if they just had similar ideas Americans heavy metal bands had, just taking the framework of the NWOBHM and adding more of an "oomph" with powerful vocals and meaner riffs.
Interesting list. Here is a list of metal albums I think are uderrated... Death - Spiritual Healing Anthrax - Sound of White Noise Fates Warning - Inside Out Dream Theater - Falling Into Infinity Demon Hunter - Extremist In Flames - Sounds of a Playground Fading
Motley Crue album kicking ass actually check out FFDP - The Way of The Fist (Groove metal) Sonata Arctica - Pariah's Child (Power metal/progressive) Sylosis - Monolith (Melodeath) Unleash The Archers - Defy The Skies EP (POWER METAL)
Caladan Brood and Gallowbraid are the same guy (Jake Rogers). I know he is focused on Visigoth right now, but I really wish he would get back to his Black metal stuff. It's incredible.
Mouthful of Buildings by Transilience. This band has a little over 20 listeners on Spotify. Fucking outrageous. This album is INCREDIBLE, easily one of the best prog thrash albums ever written. as good as or better than any Voïvod album, which is really saying something since Voïvod is one of my favorite thrash bands
Dawn - Slaughtersun Sacramentum - Far Away from the Sun Katatonia- Dance of December Souls Sentenced - Shadows of the Past Opeth - Morningrise Ihsahn - Das Seelenbrechen
Some of mine are: Motorhead-Hammered Amon Amarth-Jomsviking The Beatles-Please Please Me Unanimated-Ancient God of Evil (Idk if underrated, but most certainly under talked about) Black Sabbath-Forbidden (idc what anyone says, Forbidden is a great album) Kreator-Endorama Metallica-Load and Reload ZZ Top-Tejas Opeth-The first two albums Iron Maiden-The Blaze Era Kiss-Carnival of Souls (Jungle is a classic imo) Judas Priest-Nostradamus Five Finger Death Punch-The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell
Listen to the 1st album by razor, executioners song, 1985, really was a precursor to evil invaders, not as strong but some great tracks. In 1986 after evil invaders they released malicious intent , which whilst being a natural follow up to evil, lacked the production which is a real shame. stace "sheepdog" mclaren's vocals were brutal on those 1st 3 albums. Shame they lost their way over the following albums though.
Great Vid. Cradle of Filth-Thornography Ihsahn-Eremita Opeth-Orchid Devin Townsend-Ghost Voivod-The Outer Limits Septicflesh-Esoptron Swallow the Sun-The Morning Never Came Katatonia-Dead End Kings Alcest-Shelter
Hi quest for metal! Just want to say thankyou for your channel. I really really enjoy your channel. I have a question are you a fan of pink floyd and would you do any videos on pink floyd? I know they aren't metal but they sure did inspire many metal and prog metal bands like dream theater and opeth. You can definitely hear pink floyd in to bid you farewell middle guitar solo. And dream theater mike portnoy said that his favourite album of all time is the wall by pink floyd. Thanks!
Kreator: Outcast- Forget the fact that this isn't thrash, forget that it's a Kreator album, forget all the haters; just listen to this as a heavy metal album. You may be surprised to find that it's pretty badass.
Great video as usual. I agree with Metal Trenches Motley Crüe pick which I loved as a teenager long ago, it’s their best album. As a Black and Death fan now I have chosen a band you spoke about to check out and that’s Anorexia Nervosa. I am listening to it now and they are everything you said. Fantastic band and way better than Dimmu Borgir and their last few albums. So thank you for putting me on to yet another fantastic band. Knowing you’re a black metal fan if you haven’t heard of them already I’d like to recommend you check out Mutilation Rites and Nightbringer. The vocalist in Nightbringer is Ahklys’ vocalist..and he’s just as awesome. Have a great one 🤘
I’ve always thought The Satellite Years by Hopesfall is super underrated. Early 2000’s metalcore with some space rock. They didn’t adhere to the typical metalcore structures considering the heavy prog influence in their sound.
Great Video! Here’s my Underrated albums list: Septicflesh - Sumerian Daemons Bathory - Blood On Ice Opeth - Pale Communion Katatonia - Dead End Kings Ensiferum - Unsung Heroes Darkthrone - Sardonic Wrath Blind Guardian - A Night At The Opera Symphony X - Iconoclast
I wouldnt call some of those albums underrated but I heard most of these albums and they are deffinitely very good, Dead End Kings is one of my favorites alongsidr Brave Murder Day
