Well since you asked the question I’ll submit this thought. I NEVER had any desire for loadable dumbbells because of the risks of weight sliding off but the Gungnir ones really may offer the most versatility of anything out there. And it’s safe overhead. So lunges, squats, presses, you can go as low on depth as much as your chest will allow. Better for curls, rows, and quicker to set up. Is there something this bar will do that the Gungnir dumbbells can’t do better or won’t do at all??
@@BrandonSchwartz1 what CANT you do with dumbbells that you can with a trap bar? You can do deadlifts, RDLs, squat (regular or goblet). I think you can hit every muscle with dumbbells. Not to mention suitcase carries, farmers walk, etc. dumbbells are the greatest and most versatile piece of equipment…EVER! :) immediately followed by the barbell.
@@razhua That is a very good answer! And while I guess it is possible to attach a dip belt to them and have a set of dumbbells on each side I don’t think anyone would be that desperate to use dumbbells for that purpose lol. But it’s possible! 😂
Gluck, your support of a small business means a lot. It's easy to do things that benefit yourself, but not doing that is exactly why PhenoX is here in the first place. Giving back to the community you serve is much more rewarding than making a few extra bucks per bar. You're being rewarded right now by your followers trusting you as they should. Great fair and honest review.... however it's your squat not the bar.... 😂.
Another great review! "Basement Brandon was busy." LMAO. I love it when people can make these comments and everybody knows it's all in good fun. Some people take life way too seriously.
The lego of barbells. I do love the versatility. I mostly would use it for varying my grip for rows. That was the biggest bar I have ever seen anyone curl with lol
Damn that's a good line... wish I thought of it. It does very well at varying width, quick and easy to change that. HAHAHA my biggest accomplishment yet, curling with a large bar.
I have never been so conflicted by the appearance of a bar😂 As an idea though, it is so cool. And the fact that he isn’t out here trying to fleece people makes it even more attractive.
9:30 LOL looks goofy, like a giant neck brace or shock collar haha Probably could win the title of Best Versatility (versatile?) bar. And hats off to the creator for thinking outside the box.
The only type of specialty bar I don't have is a trap bar, so this could be pretty cool for the added versatility. I've also been impatiently waiting for Rep Fitness to tell us about their trap bar's special feature. They're being such a tease!
This is possibly my favorite video you've done so far. This is such a unique piece of equipment that was nowhere near my radar. Now when will they add an attachment to the bar that allows you to connect it to your rack or to jammer arms?
I discovered this bar because of this review and ended up buying it. We wanted a trap bar and this was right in that price range and far more versatile so I figured anything else it does is gravy. It is a bit rough around the edges, but what do you expect at this price for a pioneering product? I love it. Most of the things it can do have exceeded my expectations. As I'm getting older I find myself needing to find more alternative movements and this bar is going to help a lot with that. I got the smaller version because I didn't want this bar to limit my rack choices in the future. I'm glad I did because it is kind of awkwardly large. The narrower width makes it easy to avoid hitting the uprights and safeties when in the rack. Configuring it is a bit confusing at first but I'm starting to get the hang of it (deadlift is immediately obvious, other lifts take some thought). I just can't say enough about how much fun this bar is to play with. And thank you Gluck for giving this bar some exposure with a fair and honest review. I agree with with you, it may not be perfect but at this price there's not much to complain about. There's nothing else like it.
are you still happy with it 3mo later? I'm thinking about buying one. As a trap bar replacement it looks great. I'm curious about squats on it though, if it's a decent SSB replacement then the value is totally worth it (trap bar + SSB would cost more anyway)
Great review as always. I am glad I didn’t jump the gun on buying the Maverick Bar. I like the many usage but will need to see this develop a little more maybe V2 in the future.
That is such an innovative piece of equipment especially if you're trying to keep your specialty bar count lower. And I do need to note there is a knurling conversation in this review without the cat tongue baseline so I felt totally lost on how the knurling might feel 😹
People probably already bought BOS and REP power rack stuff to reward you for playing fair. That bar is the kind of thing that I dig... thanks for the review. I hope you helped a lot of buyers !
I did the best I could with it and thought it deserved some more attention. We've been fortunate this far with affiliates but it's a roller coaster with a lot of days of nothing (not complaining) so we're hoping it picks up so we can keep at it.
Interesting concept. I am limited on space in my home gym and this might be a good fit. I am always wary of things that try to do too much but this was a good review.
You were right at the end about how a bar like this pushes the industry to innovate a lot more. IMO for me, this bar is the jack of all trades, master of none. But, for many people, who just want to lift for health, this bar could do almost anything they would ever need after a general lifting bar. The weight limit is where I am leary and would love to see the final version that is quicker and easier to switch around... excellent review and demonstrations of some sample exercises!
I'll be interested to see the final capacity as well. I beat on it some at 500 lbs and think it can clearly hold more but can see why he'd be conservative with the posted limit. Could be a great bar for the right people.
I've had my eye on this for a minute now and was waiting to start seeing more reviews and usage of it. Its definitely got balanced list of pros and cons and I think it will get a bit more refined as time goes on.
It’s a genuinely cool concept and while I’m not sure if I’ll make the leap and buy this one, I’ll definitely keep an eye on their products and purchase something from them eventually since they’re somewhat local to me. Thanks for the review and for making me aware of having such an innovative company in my back yard!
I'll be keeping an eye on them as well. They've got some great ideas and it'll be cool to see what else comes from PhenoX. Thanks for the comment and support!
Really cool bar. I am interested in seeing the continued improvements. Some good and creative innuendos in this vid. And does Winnie know you have such a crush on basement Brandon?
The use of sexual innuendo was masterful in this video. .. Also the bar was very cool and had I not already bought a bunch of speciality bars, I'd seriously consider getting this modular marvel!
Haha.... I have talked to Gordon a few times about prices. He isn't in it for the money just loves doin what he does. He has helped me get the creative ball rolling quite a few times. I think it'd be cool if you picked up that Evo ID rack. Im really glad youre covering him and the small business, hopefully this repeats as a trend.
Yeah he really just wants to help people and not in the, that's what you're supposed to say kinda way. I hope to keep on going with them. We've already got XII XI and Belt Fed ready to go!
Gluck, can you please do an opinion review on the most to least essential specialty bars for a home gym??? Could compare the specialty bar types based on versatility, how much quality it adds to exercises you use it for relative to a standard barbell, and overall value. Trap bars, EZ curl bars, safety squat bars, multiple multi grip bars, cambered bars, bamboo bars, and beyond!
This is actually an invetion with great potential if the execution's a bit better. As a powerliftier, we gotta train on barbells. But for most homegym random fiteness enthusiasts, it could be a great way to add variations to not get bored
Love the bar, Love that you support innovative & American businesses. My concern is this: In its current state it has very fun potential but it looks like a very slick prototype. I'd be worried id buy it and then in a year after he gathered all of our feedback he would release a 2.0 version etc. Props to him, this bar and his whole site are absolutely awesome
While Titan will eventually come out with their version, The Goose Bar (please tell me you get this reference), I'm really most excited for your review of the Yaheetech model.
I was responding to comments on my phone which apparently doesn't show that Super Thanks so I was just responding to what I thought was your algorithm comment but now I see the icon so thank you so much!
@@GlucksGym Well... had to add to your list of puns you had during the video. Good Review... But.... seriously going to keep my eye on this thing. Hopefully by next year they'll have refined things.
Just being able to buy one bar that has the functionality of a trap/hex bar, and cambered bar (+ more) would save so much space in my home gym, and who can say no to more ways of doing curls?
@@GlucksGym lol here's hoping that hoping that you are a space lizard and enjoy some dcum in your ear holes and therefore realize how much of a compliment that is. If not check out Time Suck podcast. Based on your videos seems like the comedy might be right up your alley. 🎳
So many functions, but I'm too lazy / impatient to adjust them. Plus, the easy storage option rubs salt in the wound because my garage gym has zero accessible wall space, due to lack of hindsight and a plethora of future antiques. What to do?
It’s a really cool idea but the website lists it as having a 500lb weight capacity which is a shame. I would seriously consider getting one to replace my Eleiko Oppen bar if not for that limitation.
I beat on it some at 500lbs and thinks it's probably a conservative number but can see why he'd do that. I was told the mods will probably add another 100lbs.
This bar looks a lot more useful than I thought. Not sure I could live with the sloppy fit though. I guess it's not like you are doing Olympic lifts with it, but still, seems like it would be distracting.
Very versatile piece of equipment but I’m a firm believer when you try to do too many things, it just doesn’t work the best. Price is great but I’d never buy it due to the feeling of everything feeling loose with those hitch pins.
I know everyone is different but I would rather spend more money on specialty bars and have something that saves me time from having to set up a lot. Besides if I had one bar that did it all think about how much stuff I would have to stop buying! No sir!!! No thank you lol
You're right, everyone is different. I have the space for a lot of stuff so it doesn't make as much space to me but I can see this really working for a lot of people. More importantly, I also need to keep buying 😂
Master of None? Master of One? Move a tonne? Does it also help you run? Do you prefer bread or a bun? Tell me, son. Well, off to bed, my work here is done.
It's not the most efficient if you're using it for several different exercises. It's not difficult to swap around but slower than using something that was built for those specific things but also the only bar that can even attempt it all.
Really cool concept but just too unrefined for me. Feels like the gen 1 and 2 transformer bars. Honestly, this has potential but I think he needs someone like kabuki to help engineer it to the point where it’s ready for mass consumption
@@GlucksGym SO .... You'd rather keep working your fill time job ? . DAMM after 37 years with Stop & Shop i cant wait . STAY COOL whereever you are, i'm in CT.
Shame that they don't ship to europe. I'd buy this in a second but I don't want to get destroyed by going throug ha reseller and paying per lb of weight. Someday if they sell to Europe I'll get this,
